I would give zero stars if possible. RUN don't walk from this company. Total experience was FULL of red flags. I went in for general cleaning and x-rays. I was told I had 4 very small cavities (3 would be re-mineralized & 1 would be filled). I was also told I had gum disease, needed a deep cleaning, gum irritation and recommended perio therapy. A lovely "estimated" out of pocket of $2,100 after insurance. 1. I have ZERO signs of gum disease and honestly was alarmed at their "diagnosis". When I further inquired about the medication that would be needed for the perio therapy trays, the hygienist said I could order it from Amazon. I was charged for a pano x-ray that I never saw nor did they ever go over with me. I was also talked into a cancer screening which consisted of the hygienist feeling my mouth with her fingers for less than a min. They did not have time to do any work at that moment so I was scheduled to come back a little over an hour later. When I returned, they filled 3 teeth (this was VERY alarming) and then told I needed to come back in the AM for the deep cleaning (after I was scheduled for this time). After being charged $296 that day before ever running my insurance, I was truly frustrated with this experience. Nothing but red flags! I went back the next morning simply to let them know all of my concerns and red flags. I also made it clear that I wanted a general cleaning and not their recommendations as I did not agree with them. I was told by the hygienist that she would not do a general cleaning as that would be and a I quote "malpractice negligence" and that it was "prescribed to me, not recommended". I IMMEDIATELY told them I would be going for a second opinion. I was lucky to get an appt rather quickly with another dental practice (Atlantic Dentistry) who confirmed that I do NOT have gum disease, do NOT need a deep cleaning and that I in fact have no cavities. This practice reviewed all of the x-rays thoroughly with me and again confirmed that not only do I not have any signs of gum disease, that there is zero sign of inflammation and that I have great oral/dental health and simply needed a regular 6 month general cleaning. They completed my cleaning, ran it through my insurance and I wasn't charged a dime. AD was thorough, honest and so kind. Highly recommend them and SO grateful to find them. On the flip side of that coin, I am honestly beside myself that a dental practice/doctor (Sage Dental) would try to convince someone of a diagnosis to upsell services that were completely fraudulent. This is wildly unprofessional and shameful. So not only do I not have gum disease, need a deep cleaning or perio therapy, I did NOT need fillings as I have NO cavities. I should not have been charged for work that never needed to be done in the first place. I highly recommend staying FAR away from Sage Dental at all cost. read more
