History
Established in 2008.
SAGA Combat started as a once a week martial arts club. This got some attention from a local gym, who asked the head instructor (at the time, the only instructor) to move over to their gym and expand it for their membership. Over time, SAGA out grew the space at the gym (and the room in the parking lot) and it moved to its current home on Aspen St. SAGA now has four instructors teaching different martial arts and many more classes through out the week.
Meet the Business Owner: Scott W.
Hey, I'm Scott White, and I'm the owner and head instructor at SAGA Combat. My brother and I had done martial arts since we were young, and always wanted to teach together. At the time I was a karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor, and was training in Judo. After a while, I convinced my Judo instructor to come and teach at my little martial arts start up, and SAGA's judo program was born. After some knee injuries competing, I convinced my brother to take over our karate/kick boxing program, temporarily at first, but then permanently. And finally to help round out our training, I hired one of the best boxing coaches I've met to cover our boxing program. At that's where we are today, one martial arts training facility training with four accomplished instructors teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Boxing and MMA training. We've produced many local, state, and national champions, and helped many more learn self defense, get fit, and provide a fun positive community.
