This may be the funniest interaction and miscommunication I have ever had while in a foreign country. First of all, we went here after a red eye, just looking for any type of food. We got there between lunch and dinner time, a time when many restaurants are closed in Europe. The owner (?) who was cooking and waiting on the 2 other people there was very friendly, but did not speak much English. When we walked in, we asked for a table for 2. Apparently, he thought we had asked for 2 sandwiches. So, we sit down and start to wonder why we are not getting menus and why he is cooking food when the other 2 people there have food. Then he comes over and asks about drinks, but gets us water instead of coke (honestly, not complaining here... It was a comedy of errors).
He brings over these 2 sandwiches and my husband goes, "what is this?" to which he panics a little bit explaining that he thought we ordered them. We didn't really care at that point, plus the food smelled amazing, so we just ate it. This was probably our best meal so far this trip!
So, my advise to you is, if you only speak English, look at the menu ahead of time and try not to accidentally order sandwiches, but if you do, don't worry, because they will be fantastic anyways. read more
