Stopped to shop at Safeway late last night before coming back to Flagstaff and we enjoyed the experience. Everything was well stocked in the entire store, and the produce was super fresh and well displayed! We weren't in here for long, but I can say that something triggered our allergies bad. For me it's typically mildew/mold that triggers me, so I'm not sure with it being an older store if they've got some of that going on, but it took all night for my allergy medicine to kick in. Again it's just an older building, so I'm not mad over it.I'm hoping one day they can do some slight renovations to update it and maybe clear whatever it is going on allergy wise there our male cashier was super friendly too, it was around 7pm maybe. I would definitely stop here again if I need to. read more

Safeway rides again! A few weeks ago when passing thru town, went to 1 of the dumpsters behind the store to throw away a bit of garbage. Opened up a bin to find unopened bags and bags of different kinds of potato chips!. See pic. Well, not surprising. Anyone who's conscious of Albertsons/Safeway knows that even in the 21st century, their stores throw away all kinds of perfectly good food. I've seen this in Boise, Williams, here and a few other stores. If you patronize them, you support this behavior. read more

Clean store but rudest cashiers I have ever met. They don't make eye contact, don't say thanks and the one today, (10/6/2024) a young guy, was just flat out surly. I had a question about the digital coupons and he acted annoyed. If you don't like your job or working with the public then look for another job!!! read more

I was on a road trip, and I needed a few essentials. Safeway to the rescue! It's an older store, but no issues finding what I needed. I knocked it down a few spots because COVID regulations were not actively enforced. read more

If you forget your Safeway card you will feel shame from the checker, bagger, manager, customer service clerk, and the person standing behind you. If you ask to borrow one you'll get the nastiest look from all the above minus the person behind you who will avoid eye contact and not offer theirs for you to use. If you ask for a new one they won't let you use it until you bring back the completed form. Money orders are 50 cents. Be carful. There are always people in the parking lot just standing there making things feel all uncomfortable with their lack of intent and purpose there in the parking lot. read more

Winslow is closer to Leupp than Flagstaff is. So as it got later into the evening, I opted to go this way. It was about 8:30pm. The parking lot wasn't full. When I got inside it wasn't very busy which I liked. I prefer less crowded supermarkets. It was easy and chill to walk up and down each aisle examining everything that I thought I might buy. Most times, I just read the labels and put the item back. Typical supermarket, typical Safeway. Bakery, fresh meats/butcher, produce, floral. I think there is a coffee shop too but I'm not sure it's a Starbucks. Prices were decent but mostly everything I bought was on a 'club card' special. $1.50 fresh pineapples,...yes, please. Three for $1 kiwi,..okay. It's not a bad place. read more

90% of the time that I get something from the freezer section, I go home to find that the item has been freezer burnt. This happens almost every single time. I have also found meat that has gone bad in their meat section, and vegetables full of mold. There are no standards at this store. They do not take care of their items, or please their customers. Try to focus more on your products coming in and how you place them, rather than all the rules you provide for your staff. read more

Apart from their expensive prices, I enjoy going to Safeway. The customer service is much better than Walmart's, and their deli, bakery, and coffee shop are quite nice. The bathrooms are generally clean, which is good. Their food is usually fresh and pleasant. read more

Hello I came into your store for first time in a long time. I was thinking that I would try Safeway only because its been awhile since I been there and I was expecting nice customer service apart from Walmart, where I should have gone. When I was done shopping with my family we checked out but we had two carts and the employees were trying to separate us but we were all one order. In the middle of the transaction they were putting all our stuff in one cart but we told them that we were all paying for both carts, but that they would go to separate cars. This cashier Cynthia told us,"Oh well" and kept on going. We were so disappointed. Other stores would have said sorry and worked out the problem with us, but not Safeway. This has given me a bad experience with Safeway and I thought they are suppose to care about what their customer say, I guess not. read more
