Trudie is one of the best workers in the store. She is always friendly, works hard, smiles and makes the store a better place. When I don't see her around the place it's just not the same experience. Keep up the good work Trudie. read more

Called and ordered a birthday cake over a week in advance and no one made the cake. We've never had this problem the many years we've got a cake for each kid's birthday. Staff didn't care and weren't helpful and didn't offer to make the cake. How does someone lose a cake order when it's their job?! Way to ruin a birthday. Will not be ordering here again. read more

Went in there today to do some shopping, just misc stuff. Went to the bakery to get some bagels, and there were flies inside the case. I brought it up to an employee who basically said, yeah we know and walked off. WTF? read more

Monday the 26th I went into the Toppenish Safeway to get their fresh, fried chicken and the place was overwhelmed. There was only one employee at the counter so another one, who was actually off the clock, pitched in and helped. She was amazing and helped the guy get caught up and had an awesome attitude while doing so. I so appreciate this and just wanted to say so. (Wish I had gotten her name!) read more

This store needs to be under new management! AGAIN. I visit the store and there is only ONE checker, along with a string of customers. Elderly people do not like or want to use the self checkout. Many of them are confused with it, and need a checker. Some of these people are handicapped and just getting to the store is difficult. Get more checkers and start thinking about the customers who pour money into your store!!! read more

This store is a mixed bag. It has it's great qualities, for sure. But it has some bad ones as well. I can't help but think that they kind of take advantage of being the only big grocery store in or around Toppenish. I don't think it's the fault of this store They have some really awesome employees that will bend over backwards to help you, and then they have some that are pretty lazy (ie not cleaning the belts at checkout, not wanting to help customers, not stocking the shelves) and some very rude employees as well (as evidenced by the photo I included of the messages by Anthony C. that works there). Howard is always a pleasure to speak with and is always cheerful and helpful, as is Doug in the meat department. Kaleb is always a great checker. I know I've missed a few, but there are definitely people there that I enjoy seeing and chatting with each time I'm there. Unfortunately there are some pretty bad ones too, though not many. For instance there's a middle aged latina lady at the customer service counter with tats on her neck that is pretty rude and short with people and never seems to smile. The people in the deli are pretty short with you and lately the chinese food has been sub par. The carts are filthy and the wheels routinely stick and don't seem to ever get oiled. The donut case often has flies in it. They have a tendency to not restock their shelves very well, and when they do they will routinely put a high priced item on the shelf in a way so that people think it is cheaper than it actually is. I routinely see things on the shelf with no price tag. The crowds are ridiculous since the only other big store closed in town, and there's usually not more than a few checkout lines open so you'll be waiting in line for a while. The parking lot and walks around the store are dirty. The meat department has 3 or 4 people that are absolutely amazing, but the shelves in the cooler are a little dirty, but not too bad to be honest and definitely cleaner than other places I've been (coughFiestaFoodscough). It's rare to see any decent deals at this store, especially on meat. An example is a 3lb roll of pretty poor 80/20 ground beef is $10, and it seems like you lose half the pack in grease when you cook it at home. Most of the cuts are really good, and the flavor is phenominal, but again the prices are pretty high. If you want country style pork ribs you'll probably have to bust out $18-$25 for an average size pack. But there's not much of a choice because they are the main store in town and it's 20 minutes to Wal Mart and we sadly have no Winco here. A lot of the time the only way I can somewhat afford to eat by shopping there is by checking the clearance bins of old and/or damaged packs of meat. All in all it's a decent store, and Howard and the other management try very hard to make you feel welcome when you come in. It definitely needs some things fixed, and I usually walk out upset and light in the wallet (as I did before my previous review of this store), but it's kind of balanced out by getting to see some of the exceptional staff that works there when I go in. read more

This store is horrible and take advantage of being the only chain grocery store in this community. Its seems as though that even though there are multiple check stands that there is only one or two open at a time, even when the lines are 10 people deep. To put it simply, you will most likely wait at least 10 to 15 minutes in the check out line. I have also observed that they will miss price something in one part of the store only to have the exact same item in another part marked at a higher price that way when you question it at the check out and they send the bagger to check it out, they come back saying its the higher price. I have noticed this a few times and the last time I took the bagger back and showed her where I saw the lower price. She actually told me that this happens a lot and lots of people complain. The good this about the store is that the employees are very nice, the store itself is clean, and the have a good selection of goods. read more

The store is a 4 due to the people being nice and the store being clean (floor is scuffed up not dirty). Renting a movie is such a hassle. There were 3 people standing at the counter but appearently only one was available to do anything. Not sure what the other two were doing. The one who helped me was rude and incredibly unhelpful. Why do we need two numbers in order to rent a movie? So what am I supposed to do? Lie and give out a fake number. They need to replace the sour puss working at the movie rental. If you hate working there get another job. read more
