There are 2 Safeway stores near us and I can't believe the difference in experiences between them. The store at 1334 E Chandler Blvd in Phoenix, AZ consistently has extremely rude employees. I had stayed away from that one for a while and just went back for a few quick items. The cashier named CJ was aggressively shoving items away from her after after she scanned them. One of the items rang up with the non-sale price (which happens all the time), and she openly mocked me for questioning it. After a lot of unnecessary back and forth she told me she had corrected it, and when I got home the receipt still had the wrong price on it. As I was walking away from her register, she was clearly talking about me to the next customer in line and they laughed and watched as me and my son walked out the door. I've read other reviews where employees say they are treated poorly by the company. Maybe being rude to customers is the way they get back at Safeway....? read more

Great selection and nice employees! My husband and I travel all over the US and Safeway or Randall's are stores we always go to When they are close by. This Safeway was clean and the bakery selection was pretty good! The shelves were well stocked which was surprising as the Walmart in Safford had bare shelves! keep up the great work Safford! I am former employee of this place. They treat us like we are not human. They play favorites and if you aren't a favorite employee they don't treat you good. Especially if you are hard worker. I don't recommend working for the Thatcher Safeway because of the Manger's and Store director read more

I like this Safeway. They almost always have everything I need and it is always clean. I work out of town and have an hour and 20 minute commute one way everyday. So having a grocery store I can depend on is great. If I need 1 or 2 things, I can run by during lunch, or go by after work. That way, I don't have to make a detour when I get back to the town I live in. Every cashier I have ever encountered has been friendly. And usually the lines aren't very long. There is a Starbucks inside. Sometimes the lines are long, but not usually. They have a good selection and you can pay with the app. I also really like their hot soup selection. I recommend the potato soup. Safeway is always a little more expensive than other grocery store chains, but that's just how it is. The app works in store once you connect to the free WiFi, which usually works. Overall, it is a good little grocery store and usually pretty easy to get in and out quickly. read more

Very poor service stand at registers forever and at the pharmacy forever to get waited on forget to give you all the sales prices.

I am not from this area so I was really surprised by the lack of selection store wide and also the exorbitant prices. I don't think the folks from this area realize how badly they are being abused by the pricing structure of this store. People in this area deserve a grocery store that charges fair prices. Neither Safeway nor Bashas' can meet the need apparently. I drive to Tucson to buy meat and vegetables from Costco. Come on Safeway, stop abusing the residents of Safford, Thatcher and Pima. read more

Update to the review: the Central Supply Warehouse delivers grocery product to Safford as late as 10:00 AM. So that is why morning shopping there sucks. The Safford orders are bumped in favor of stores in bigger cities and incomplete orders are delivered to Safford. This is especially true of items on sale. I now see why the Safford Safeway is not up to snuff. We are not as important to the company as the ones in Mesa, Tempe and Phoenix. If you read on you will see what I mean. "I have shopped at Safeway stores in Tempe and Mesa for years. They were run so efficiently you would seldom have a complaint. The Safeway in Safford is probably the worst managed one around. Shelf stocking is done after the store opens, and the shelves are often empty to the morning shopper. Weekly specials emailed or mailed to customers are usually not stocked or displayed. Packaged salads are not made daily and the shelves are often bare or with one or two close to expiration date. The recent quality of the in-house bakery, such as bagels, is inferior. If you like anything but white bread, you probably won't find it on the shelves." The Pharmacy is well run, as good or better than any in town. But the grocery store seriously needs a management shake-up. Deplorable. If you have the time, shop in the Willcox Safeway. You will definitely notice the difference. read more

There's not much to say. It's your standard grocery store, the way it should be. It's so clean, bright, and well-stocked, plus super easy to navigate. Great prices are an added bonus! I really enjoy shopping here, and prefer it over the other stores here and in Safford. read more

This is an AWESOME Safeway! The store is always clean. The employees are very nice & helpful. They always have plenty of stock in every department. I shop here weekly & its always an excellent shopping experience. Its obvious that the employees at this store take alot of pride in their store. The majority of the businesses in this area could take a lesson or two on how to run a business from this Safeway. They are definately doing something right! read more

This store is clean and always has what I need. If that's all you care about, then it's a great store. The customer service at this location is NOT great. Particularly at Starbucks. I have overheard employees in Starbucks gossiping about customers when everybody could hear them. I also had a Starbucks employee roll her eyes at me. The store customer service isn't much better than Starbucks. There are plenty of other places in town that offer far better customer service AND have everything you need. read more

Went to the store to buy groceries. Decided to get Starbucks while shopping. There were two employees in the kiosk but only one doing the work. Stood in line for 15 minutes. Get to the counter only to be ignored and then the employee hollers at me to ask what I want. Finally actually comes to the register to take my order. I order 2 coffees HOT and give her a travel mug for one. She isn't happy about that. Wait another 10 minutes for coffees. The one in the travel mug comes cold. Explain that it was supposed to be hot. She shrugs her shoulders and says oh well. Walks away. Of course can't find a manager. I will find another grocery store and buy my coffee at the convenient store. They don't need my money!! read more

I am giving Safeway 2 stars. When the monopoly game was in affect,..1st of May to be exact. I went to Safeway in Goodyear, AZ. off of Litchfield rd and Indian School rd to buy the last items I was going to buy to play the monopoly game (after all I stopped going to fry's to shop at Safeway or Albertson's because of the monopoly game which ended may 3rd.). As I walked through the store to see what else I can buy to increase my chances of getting more game pieces upon checkout, I also spoke to a few employees before checking out; however, nothing much was said other than hi and how are you?! So when I was just about done checking out ..(food put on the conveyor belt, food bagged and back in the basket and even paid for the food) the cashier was handing me my receipt when I said, " I am playing the monopoly game" the cashier said "we are not participating in the game anymore, because we do not have anymore game pieces." The cashier proceeded to say " the other stores locally that are participating in the monopoly game do not have any game pieces either" I said to her, " It would have been nice to have been informed that there were no more game pieces. A sign, take down the tags or even one of the employees that said Hi to me could have said something. All the cashier said as she was giving my receipt was, "sorry and have a wonderful day!". That pissed me off so bad, I returned everything I bought and took my business elsewhere. I spent almost 100 dollars worth of groceries. Not anymore...lol.. read more
