The managers here are horrible with customers and clearly can't find anything to do. Visibly pregnant + sitting completely out of the way in an empty aisle while I pulled up my grocery list because I was super fatigued. Male manager with long dirty blonde hair came up just to tell me I couldn't sit there and spied on me from the end of the aisle till I was able to get up. Afterwards, he wandered the store doing absolute jack instead of actually working. Way to set a great example + encourage good customer service. This is my FAVORITE grocery store. Cathy, the cashier is the friendliest person. I will wait in line for her!! She always remembers me and the gentleman who assists with bagging the groceries is also extremely friendly and sociable. Ernie in the deli/meat department is also very friendly! The food quality is always incredible and they almost ALWAYS have what I need from truffle oil to various cuts of meats. It's clean and always kept organized. Covered parking!! A very appreciated feature in the sunny desert climate. The employees are helpful and friendly, the sale prices have consistently been beating Fry's Grocery over the last year (It's closest competitor for value grocery shopping) The store was really starting to show it's age. However, the store just finished a remodel in January 2024. They could have made it more upscale decor during the remodel considering its location in the heart of Scottsdale. But, the store is always clean and bright. My favorite Safeway Signature brand item is their salted caramel ice cream. Often on sale and always delicious. read more

This store simply sucks. Worst in the valley. I called to speak with a manager to help me out. The phong was ringing for 14 mins and nobody ever picked up the call. The rotation of voice to select a number came up 6 times! And nobody was there? At 3:15 on a Wednesday! I can't wait to transfer my pharmacy prescription to the Safeway on camelback. Do not go to the Scottsdale store. What was the issue you may ask? Not only "could've been better", this store has always been better...what the heck has happened to it? Cashiers like Bobbie, Barb, Monica were such a pleasure to do business with - the new ones not so much. My cashier today felt the need, although probably well intended, to educate me on the workings of digital coupons which I have done for years. I do not need to be talked to like I am a child with such questions as "are you listening?" or suggesting I have not handled the digital coupon app correctly or just plainly asked "do you have the app on your phone? "when I had already talked to the Customer Service desk and they related the in store network can be iffy. When I said that back to the cashier, his response was "What carrier do you have?" Im not quite sure what that has to do with it. Along with that, I do not need to be told not to pick up my bags off the counter after scanned because someone else had broken the coin dispenser doing that with a case of beer - that's not my concern or problem nor did I have a case of beer. All this may have been well meaning but not necessary. My next stop after the cashier was Starbucks. I walked up to the counter the employee was talking to the coworker and third person who had already been served and standing at the end of the counter. Your employee walked up to the register and just looked at me - no Good Morning, no can I help you, not a dang thing but then continued the conversation with the other two. When she turned and looked a me again with NO VERBAL interaction, I asked her "Are you ready?" Somewhat to her credit she did mumble "oh sorry". That whole exchange should never have happened and would not have previously. Some on your staff need retraining - Period. Some don't - produce area and the customer service desk are great across the board, everywhere else seems to depend on who you get. All your cashiers should fall into the category with produce and service desk, I know now I will not go to certain cashiers and will wait in line for others - not the best shopping experience. Fix whatever is wrong with your instore network so the digital coupons work would be a big help or take that option off the app. read more

So I went to grab another lane divider, which she snatched from my hands asking me "you already have one!". I asked to speak to a manager which she then refused additionally cursing at me. I'm not entirely sure how to get this to the gentleman working at the sushi section, hopefully someone at Safeway can address this to him. This sushi is absolutely phenomenal. I'm a sucker for some fresh sushi that taste great and is affordable. This sushi fits perfectly in those categories. I always get the happy platter, it's essentially 5 rolls on one platter with each of them being slightly different than the other. There isn't a place that offers this type of sushi at that price. Really does feel like a small neighborhood grocery store. There are lots of familiar faces amongst the employees, and there are always plenty smiling faces on hand to help find things or answer questions. GREAT deals if you download and use the app to clip coupons. Pay attention to the meat deals and you can stock up on ground beef and chicken breast for super cheap! Once you clip coupons and make purchases, you get points which can be redeemed for free items or money off your purchase. The produce can be a little iffy from time to time. read more

Very bizarre staff in the pharmacy . They are very socially awkward , short rude answers with any questions you might have over medication. They have been like this for awhile now & so glad to get rid of them . They do not answer their phone for doctors to call back . I have waited inline to get a sandwich and than told by Jasmin it's closed and this by the way was at 6pm. I was at your store again a week later on same line and same dilemma by the same uncaring ass Jasmine for your worthless employee that she is. I went back again to see maybe if things have changed how ever they have not this is 5-18-24 waited for over 20 minutes to be told by Jasmin in person that she's short staffed I don't have this I don't have that. Albertson's has purchased all Safeway stores and the changes they are making are going in a backwards direction. 1. They removed all the self checkout stands - why? terrible decision 2. These are the chains that have confusing pricing. It looks like a sale, but wait, you have to buy 15 of this item to get the sale price. 3. Both stores are exactly the same now. Just pick one because everything one store has, the same exact prices etc are in the other store 4. This location hasn't figured out how to stop the parking lot from being flooded for years. I have two reviews lumped into one about this store. The grocery store itself - 5 stars. Everything is clean, usually available. The butcher block staff is always friendly and helpful. Deli is the same as well. Fruits veggies are fresh and the checkout is always great, if the line is too long they will open up more check outs very quickly. Parking is ample, shaded and close to entering the store. I love the deli sushi too, it's not out of this world top rated sushi but it's fresh and tasty. With that being said, I'm only giving one star to the pharmacy. Decided to transfer my script so I can get the $25 gift card for transferring and $75 bonus after 5 refills. When I spoke to the pharmacy I asked the specifically for a certain brand manufacturer, "Yes, no problem. We can order it in." Perfect! I'll transfer. Well a few days later I'm getting text messages for the meds with the wrong manufacturer. Called Safeway pharmacy and advised them that they said they could order it... and yes of course again, no problem would have it in a few days after they order it. Well a few days later, still getting the wrong manufacturer texts and been trying to call them for a couple days now and no one answers. Not worth the trouble. They have a great produce section and a large selection of organic produce too. I love the floral section -lots of pretty arrangements. Let's preface this is a chain grocery store. Why this location stands out is what makes it not only unique but a boutique to me. The stellar customer service is unmatched. I have yet to shop here where there is an unhappy employee. These people love delighting their customers. They wear a smile like it's their name tag! Maybe they are always smiling because of the clientele that shops here. This store is full of beautiful people. You can forget just wearing your sweats because The One might be standing in THAT aisle. Crap, the parking lot itself is a drool session if you love exotic fast cars. When you finally peel yourself out of that side mirror for your IG selfie, inside the store is immaculate. The floral department can outdo 1800Flowers for half the cost and more the wow factor. The deli section is perfect for singletons with the most healthy made-to-order menu items. I suggest the chicken artichoke sandwich with their tomato basil soup. I feel healthy just ordering it especially in my gym clothes. My fave aisle is really the alcohol aisle, not for the obvious, it houses an in-store bar that you can catch a game while you sucker your shopping buddy to do the adult duties of checking off the grocery list. In fact, they offer a service where you can fill your own decanter of their beers on tap. Grab a seat at the bar and let Alex, the wine master, rattle off the top draft beers and wine suggestions to add to your home collection. I have to admit it, grab a seat on the outside patio or inside lounge area (yes folks it is equipped with a flat screen and wi-fi), it is purely entertaining to see a grocery store be the hot spot on weekends. I have lived across the street from this store for 5 years. Was very happy to be within a very short walking distance. Unfortunately, this store continues to disappoint. Its amazing Safeway has not instituted any changes here. Pretty much everyone in our community of 500+ homes has something bad to say about this store. Their bad attitude and general incompetence continues to stand out. Can't tell you how many times I have been met by a bad attitude or general indifference toward me as a customer. I am not even asking for anything. No smiles. No making way for customers when they are doing whatever they are doing. No friendly greetings. When you actually do need something they generally have no clue. This makes the 5th time in a row I have come in for something in their Wednesday ad. Nobody has a clue. I actually was helping other customers in the meat department because their team was useless. Were they able to get me what I wanted that was out in today's ad? Not a chance. Did they know why? Nope. Did they offer a solution? No way. Don't even try address an issue with "customer service". They are nasty and accusatory. If you are looking Safeway Corporate, you are missing a huge opportunity with this store. You spent a lot of money redoing the store but with the staff and management you have here, it won't make any difference. read more

This Safeway is nice and clean like all typical Safeways, but the lines are terrible! There are a lot of elderly people who shop here and still use their checkbooks in both the regular line and the "express" line, and these type of transactions are usually at least five minutes long. I really wish they had a self-checkout line for customers who are only buying a handful of items and know how to use a debit/credit card! If you're in no hurry and have a great deal of patience, this is definitely a nice spot to grab your weekly groceries or a few snacks. The bakery in this Safeway is top notch!!! I ordered three different types of birthday cakes for all of my family's birthdays that fall in January. My baby niece got her mini smash cake with delicious fresh fruit on top, my mom got the strawberry shortcake, and I got the Boston cream cake. Every single one was such a great hit, fresh, fluffy, and tasty!! I received so many compliment from many of our guests on the strawberry shortcake that I already have a few requests to buy this type of cake for future birthdays! Welcome back to Scottsdale! We had moved away for five years and are now back to a different part of Scottsdale and really love living here. We do all of our prescriptions and grocery shopping at Safeway. First I have to highly commend the pharmacy staff. They are absolutely excellent and what they do! The volume of business is huge however the way they manage it is impressive with their positive attitudes and joyful greetings. I don't know how they do it and remain so wonderful to work with but they truly are fantastic! The rest of the staff throughout the store is super as well! Remembering it is Covid season sometimes the shelves are not stocked as fully as we would typically like but it is not a problem. Thanks for taking such great care of us Safeway! read more

This Safeway has a good sandwich and hot deli as well and tasty bakery. If you frequent Safeway, the app with coupons you can load are a must. Great deals and you can often get things up to $2 off. This location is always clean, the staff is friendly and the produce section is usually good. Sometimes the bread and salad selection badly needs to be restocked. read more
