Since I moved from Minnesota, it took me awhile to get use to the lay out, but the staff was always helpful in assisting me. The store is clean, and the products are displayed well. The store brand products are great. I especially like seeing the store manager and assistants working the checkouts. In addition, the pharmacy has a great area to give shots. 3.5/5 stars Pretty basic Safeway. Has all the products that other Safeways have but in a slightly smaller footprint. Beach goers and tourists shop here so they were out of many brands but you pick what they have. There were plenty of registers open to help customers. I would definitely shop here again. read more

Absolutely terrible service during Yamhill County Fair week. Can't shop there or anywhere else in the strip mall in peace because their henchmen in vests follow and harass you. All the entrances are blocked off so you have to drive all the way around through insanely heavy traffic to the one spot they left open. Shopping experience and prices are way better at Winco and Grocery Outlet anyway. I will seriously reconsider my business at this location. read more

At the beginning of the month (December 2025) I bought two Safeway Gift Cards, and was given activation codes for each of them. At home I shred my receipts, and without realizing it I also shredded the activation codes as well. On Monday the 29th I went back to Safeway and the Customer service person, Paula) spent around 30-45 minutes helping figuring out which register I had bought these on. I just moved to McMinnville. I was pretty excited because we did not have a Safeway in the town I used to live in and I used to love Safeway. I'm older now. Have a little heart trouble. I was very disappointed with Safeway's lack of community. There are no none zero handicap parking spots by the two main entrances in front of the store. You can however park in a handicap spot that's around the building where there are no entrances. When I finally made it to the entrance after walking a while come to find out they don't even keep baskets for shopping by that entrance. So us handicap folks end up walking to the main entrance anyway. The folks who need help the most are the ones who walk the furthest. But no worries The staff has it made. All the online ordering spots are right in front of the main entrance in the front of the parking lot The closest spots to the main entrance. By the time I made it to the shopping carts I was completely out of breath and had to rest. Here I was excited for nothing as I cannot shop there anymore. read more

I currently live in Arizona and I am down in McMinnville helping my mother while recovering from back surgery. I went down to Safeway about 30 minutes ago to purchase fruit so that I can make my mom a fruit tart... I ran into some issues with my debit card and I was getting locked out , Zachary, the assistant store manager, just so happened to walk out of what I'm guessing is the break room and see me struggling he offered his assistance. As we kept running into issues, he was kind patient and understanding. In the end, he's so graciously helped me with taking care of my payment. All in all everything was figured out and I walked out very happy and will definitely pay it forward as soon as I get the opportunity. I just wanted to leave a kind review on Zachary, the assistant store manager because too many people only leave bad reviews and we need more people like Zachary in the world! Every day items like fruit, buy two, get one free. Zero available cantaloupe, watermelon, etc. No one working in produce early afternoon. Sodas but two, get two free except zero diet Ginger Ale available. Spring rolls in the deli tasted disgusting. Pharmacy is a whole other nightmare. Drop off Rx, wait at least an hour to get notified it's filled. Then take your place in line of at least ten patients coughing, cranky sick children, old people with compromised immune systems spreading diseases. This wait averages 45 minutes after you have already waited that amount of time to be notified the Rx is ready. Something is Very Wrong when it takes longer to get one prescription filled than it did to see your physician!!! Corporate Safeway is exploiting patients and compromising their health and well-being to maximize their $$$$$. read more

So me and my sister went there, I bought alcohol and Norma the short red haired older lady didn't ID me. Note I am fresh faced, 23, no tattoos showing. And to top that after being rude to my sister she yells out "adios, hasta la vista" and my sister and I are Hispanic, but we weren't raised with Spanish. So on top of the unpleasantness and rudeness of her, she full on talked Spanish to us so rudely.? She threatened to ban us after we pointed out her rudeness... we weren't the ones being mean or trying to be mean.. heck we tried laughing with her before that. She said it wasn't illegal that she didn't ID me. That red head you guys got there safeway isn't very nice. I came to the store on the evening of 4/25/18 and went back to the meat department for the sale on bone in pork loin rib half that has been on sale all week for .97 cents a pound and the chicken split brests bone in. The sale was ending that night. When I arrived at the meat department I first looked for the large packs of pork loin rib halfs and there was none, then I went to look for the family packs of bone in chicken brests and there was none of those either. So I did the rest of my shopping and when I went to the check out regester I will ask for rain checks. When I arrived at checkout I went to check stand #4 and the checker named Jessica. She checked me out and I asked her for a rain check on pork and chicken that was on sale for .97 cents, she then took out her rain check pad and slamed it down on the counter in front of her. She then said what is it you want it for?, and I repeated it again. Another customer got behind me in line and the checker said to the other customers, you don't want to be in this line, go find another line because I will be a while writing rain checks in a crappy attitude. The customer told her that he would wait because the other check stand that was open was long. The checker then took off to the meat department and in a few minuted she returned. She said she talked to the meat department employee and he was putting more out, and if they had it then she wouldn't be writing a rain check for the items. I went back to the meat department again and met with an employee named Josh and he asked was you looking for chicken on sale I said yes, and he pointed at the whole chicken. I told him that wasn't the chicken that I was talking about, I was looking for the family pack of bone in brests for .97 cents a pound, he told me that the sale ended yesterday, and I told him no, that it was right here on the app on my phone showing that today was the last day. After showing Josh the ad on the app he said the app made a mistake and put the wrong date on it but we will honor any ad that was there mistake, just go up front and get a rain check for them both. I will call up to the front and let them know. I arrived at the front again check stand #4 and spoke to Jessica once again, and she was just getting off the phone and I told her I still need those 2 rain checks that they didn't have the chicken brests or pork chops. She wrote the one for pork but not chicken brests. She said they wasn't going to get anymore in that it wasn't a store item and they don't normaly carry it. This was total BS, who dosen't carry bone in chicken brests normaly. Jessica just didn't want to write me another rain check. Looks like I will be contacting the corporate office again to complain. And Jessica has no business being a checker if she don't want to write rain checks or have a bad attitude about things when dealing with customers issues. I'm done with this store, Albertsons here I come, now that Safeway and Albertsons share the same ad I will just go there! read more

Pharmacy is a joke! Use to be the best in town but now the elderly Pharmacist and staff should retire! Having to call many time's to get a prescription is a joke. Call 10 time's and no answer along with my refill was changed by the Pharmacist to a more expensive drug, without asking or being directed to do so. Unsafe! Reported 2 times to the Oregon Pharmacist board. Not recommended by me.... read more

This Safeway store is.... disappointing. I'll start with the fact that according to their web site, I'm too far from them to have my groceries delivered. But..... it's not too far for ME to drive to buy my groceries in person. Fancy that. I went shopping there 4 days ago, and the only brand of butter I am willing to eat was out of stock. I asked the clerk as was checking out to please leave a note about the out-of-stock situation and getting some stock in the dairy case. So today, instead of wasting gas driving into town to buy my butter I called the store to see if by chance they had it on the shelf. First call, and they left me on hold for 12 minutes while 'someone' would check to see if they had any on the shelf. After being left for dead, and being stuck listening to the most annoying excuse for 'music on hold' I've ever heard, I finally gave up and hung up and called back. The second time it only took me 8 minutes on hold before a person on the other end actually walked back to where it should be, and then told me they don't have my butter.... and that I need to call back earlier in the mornings to speak with the people to stock the dairy case. Really??? They can't bother to call me when they get some? They can't check the back of the store for stock?? Efficient.... NOT. I get it, in smaller towns, there's not much to choose from when it comes to grocery stores. Still, there are nice people here being inexplicably rude to customers because they've no idea what customer service is... and they forget that without that customer, they would not have a job in the first place. Methinks my shopping trips may be taking me to another store instead of wasting my time trying to buy what I need from this one. read more

Horrible store with horrible customer service. The cashiers are rude and disrespectful. They don't help put the groceries in your cart.

The lines are always long. There are yellow tags everywhere supposedly to indicate that things are on sale, even though they aren't. They have a yellow tag on practically every item in the store. Even if this store has the prices you want, please consider the percentage of your life you will waste waiting in line at this store. You may prefer to take a walk in the park or spend time with your children. This is the worst grocery store experience in town. It's also the worst Safeway I have been to in my life. The staff is fine. So this review is not about the staff. Except a few times they haven't prompted me for my safeway card. They are totally willing to have you pay full price. Wake up. At no other grocery store in town do I have to wait this long. read more

A classic Safeway. It's clean, organized, and the clerks are very friendly. However, the people at the customer service desk tend to be grumpy and unhelpful. There are often long lines and they do not call in enough checkers when the store is very busy. Luckily, the shelves are always fully stocked and the produce is managed so that your veggies are fresh and tasty. It's still the best chain grocery store in McMinnville so as long as you can avoid the customer service grumps, you'll be set. read more

The floral department at this location is absolutely amazing! The girls there were super helpful this morning when we came in needing as many bloomed lillies as possible for my wedding today. The flowers we had ordered from another vendor still haven't opened after days and they helped us pull the best flowers from bundles and re bundle and also gave great recommendations on different fillers to make the arrangements look bigger. Let me start by saying we are frequent customers at this Safeway. We're there are least once per week. I had my 10-year old daughter and twin 11-month old girls with me. We had two carts, one for each baby to sit in. We were in the dairy aisle, when an employee (a young gentleman maybe 16-20 years old) was pulling a pallet of ice back towards the storage area. Just by using common sense and vision you could see there wasn't room for him to get through. I walked in the opposite direction, leaving my 10 year daughter by one cart and the other one directly in front of her. All the sudden I turn and see the employee hitting the cart my daughter was by (that had my 11-month old baby in it). It was a solid collision. The guy gave a half-hearted apology. Since he just hit this cart, he's smart enough to stop and not try to get by the other cart, right? Or at very least has the common sense to ask me to move the cart. Nope he proceeds to hit the cart that my other baby was in, that had no one there to brace the cart. He hits it and proceeds to the back without an apology. I'm beyond irate right now. This employee should be immediately. He could have really hurt someone with his stupidity and lack of thinking. read more

While going into the McMinnville store to get my Starbucks drink and some other small items, I over heard some checkers and courtesy clerks making rude comments about me and complaining about me staying so long with my drink. I was then approached by a very rude manager who was giving me the impression that she wanted me to leave without actually saying so. After being humiliated by the staff I then left without buying items I had planned on getting. After this I don't see myself ever shopping at a safeway again. read more
