So I have shopped here for the last 6 years. Today I stopped in to get some empty boxes(where more than 90 empty boxes were stacked in the front next to the door). I helped myself. I thought I only needed 10 or 12 boxes. I was confronted by a staff member I have never seen before, who wasn't wearing the Safeway Uniform or any Safeway identification, who suggest that I was not a 'real customer' and should only have taken 2 boxes because 'real customers' were more entitled to the boxes than I was.
I have worked in retail, and everytime I have needed boxes the liquor store employees were thrilled that I would take their empty boxes, no questions asked.
I resent the suggestion that I am not a good enough customer. There was no signage stating that only people making purchase at the same time as getting boxes, could take boxes. There was no sign saying you have to spend amount of money a year at that liquor store to take their empty boxes. The entire tone and attitude of this alleged employee offended me. There is a nice way to do things like inquiring how many boxes I was interested in or if I was considering a purchase, and she was not nice about it at all.
I left plenty for others, and was literally taking their garbage away for them(yes, I know boxes are recyclables, but since I doubt Safeway is paying anyone to break the boxes down, they would have to go thru a compactor to be efficient to pick up and haul away , which also costs the company money).
No problem, I will never darken the Safeway Garrison Woods Liquor store's Doorway again. read more
