    Really.......we don't want your business.

Don't count on this store to be open 24 hrs - it isn't. Safeway website, app & Google search all say it is - it ain't. You'll be greeted by an unwelcoming black residential door. Even the door sign says 24 hrs. At least a half dozen other unhappy customers walked up to the locked door in the short time I was parked. With a mile long list of earned horrible reviews, you'd think the powers-that-be would actually care about customers and do something about this store. This is my last trip to this store.

Eyeing my last meal in California on the 12th of November 2019.

The Albany Safeway is open a wide range of hours which means if I wanted a snack super early in the morning or late at night, this is the place I would come when I was living in Albany. If I wanted to pick up a few items I would also stop here, though this did not become my main Safeway store in part because of the lines. They were the longest lines of any of the Safeways I frequented in East Bay, and they would form at random times like three in the afternoon. The workers were frequently strained and they handled the lines and us customers well. No flippant behavior that I encountered. When the pharmacy at the North Berkeley Safeway was out of my medicine, this was the location I would get my prescription filled. My interactions at the pharmacy were good and they were tolerant if I came at an off hour when they were about to leave and still helped me get my prescription filled. Kombucha, the occasional meat and produce, frozen novelties, yogurt, almond butter, and chicken from the deli section were some of the items I commonly bought here. Good prices and selection with good 'just for U' in-store deals using the Safeway app on I downloaded for my phone. My last meal in the state of California when I moved home to Washington State consisted of fried Chicken from this Safeway and scones from the Trader Joe's at El Cerrito Plaza. Perfect food for eating on the road as I my dad and I drove my belongings north from Albany, California to Shoreline, Washington. It hit the spot and made the drive more enjoyable.

Several carts in front of the door probably from other people that thought they would be open

We were visiting from out of state and my daughter spiked a fever in the middle of the night. I came to this Safeway at 3:53 AM to get some Tylenol and it was closed but Google, Yelp and the front entrance shows that they're supposed to be 24hrs. After reading previous comments it looks like this has been an ongoing issue with this Safeway.

    Never 24 hours. Never dependable.

Maria, a cashier is so rude to customers and employees, they don't listen to employees requesting time off and it's very hard to plan ahead.

    Ask the Community - Safeway

Are they open 24 hours a day again or was the update a lie?

They are short staffed for overnights so I guess it depends on who shows up to work. I found it better for me to call and confirm before I drive all the way there.

The reason I come to this one more often is because it's closer to me in the East Bay. They don't have a lot of organic produce and the prices for all the produce is a bit high for what it is. There's a lot of different pastry booths and there's a Semi Freddy's Cafe close by. The Frog Hollow farm has great fruit and pretty good simple pastries. They also offer their fruit preserves on a discount that is much cheaper than in stores or online. Their apricot preserves is one of their best ones and has the least amount of sugar. I come here quite often to get lunch on the weekends. There's also a really nice rotisserie chicken truck that makes amazing rotisserie chicken for about $17 and they also have rotisserie duck and rotisserie pork. They have a lot of roasted vegetables that can come with their rotisserie meat but unfortunately, all their potatoes and vegetables are covered with animal grease so it is not for people watching their cholesterol. It's easy to pick up a whole rotisserie chicken for a lovely Sunday meal and have leftovers for work for a few days. It's better than any rotisserie chicken from the supermarket but will cost about twice as much. However, you get to see them roast your chicken so you know it's very fresh and the skin is crisp.

It's on Solano Avenue so it's in an area with a lot of other food spots. They have great friendly service that made us feel welcomed when we entered the store. We got their Spicy Pork Belly Rice Bowl, Beef Tofu Soup, Rose Tteokbokki, and Spicy Cold Noodles. I personally liked the rice bowl and the tofu soup the best! They both had a nice comforting vibe to each dish that I really liked. Their cold noodles and rose tteokbokki were not bad either, but I personally didn't find them to be too memorable. They have a cute patio in the back that we didn't get to sit at, but I heard is very cute. I'd love to come back to try their lunch sets as well! Overall, solid Korean restaurant - definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a Korean spot in Berkeley!

The interior is calm with great use of wood colours, the outdoor patio is brilliantly shaded by trees, providing a little secret treehouse vibe like in Pokemon ruby. Outside was pretty popping though so I sat inside and ordered the bulgogi comfort stew. This thing was stuffed to the brim. From the description it's easy to feel like it's going to be a pretty boring dish, but it was far from. The broth was definitely comforting, I didn't care about anything after the first taste. There were different varieties of mushrooms inside providing adequate texture variation and the beef portion was generous! Usually I find myself hoarding meat in these stews to make sure I get good bites but the dish deceptively had a great amount such that I could eat a solo meat bite and still have enough! The banchan was also very flavourful. I ended up stuffed in this little hideaway, surrounded by the supermarket portion of this establishment and the calming hiphop lofi, if I was heading straight back home I would have grabbed a few things. It was hard to fault this place. Throw back to my stomach rumbling, before I left I used the restroom in the front and unfortunately the cosy hideaway, clean aesthetic seems to end at the little corridor. The bathroom was not dirty but it was not as clean as expected. Service was great and the food tasted amazing, I'd definitely come back to try other dishes

Eg - when I went to get a raincheck on an item (then found out they didn't even carry it) he made it right by giving me the option to buy the same item in different size at a pro rata same price as the raincheck. Otherwise imagine - I would have had to drive maybe 7 miles or more to another Lucky. That might or might not have the item... Lucky chain seems to have taken a hit from the online ordering stores such as Whole Foods Market. So this is not a glamorous store. If rating just the store, I might rate it a 3 (I need to give them credit for being open in the area when other stores are closed etc...I know the Lucky off San Pablo Dam Road totally CLOSED... Hate to see that happen to this one). The 5 rating is for Daniel working to make things right. I observed him helping others, and trying to be patient with an employee who made a mistake. I think it's hard for retail managers to find good long term employees these days. And that likely makes it harder to be a manager. Ie - I would imagine few people at the top of the talent pool enter a Lucky grocery store expecting a long term career anymore....Anyway, Daniel is excellent / top of the talent pool material. If he ever needs a promotion or applies to another employer, I hope he can use this review as an example of his managerial skills.

KitKat was a loved cat in San Francisco. All people who visited the area knew him. I go to the area often ever since a kid as a church my mom liked was just a few doors down from here. I had already dropped off a basket but apparently it was a 'danger' - his whole memorial and all the flowers. Perhaps it blocked the sidewalk or something. My idea was to make something that could get tied to the tree and not be a nuisance to anybody. Trader Joes has my cats favorite cat treats and I love getting him toys. I thought little KitKat would love the toys from here too. TJs didn't disappoint and I found garland for a wreath and some mice with feathers - cats love that sort of thing. I busted out some floral wire - something I've never done before in my life - but for little KitKat - I suppose I can go above and beyond - especially after his treatment from SF public works. TJs is a pleasant shopping experience as always and I enjoy my visits very much. My favorite TJs in near Granite bay/ Roseville where customers and workers have a wall of their pet photos by the pet section.
