A full summary of my experience with Safe Life Security Corp, and why you SHOULD NEVER purchase any contract or service from them:
On July 31st, 2013 the Safe Life technician arrived at my apartment to install and activate our home security system. The technician and his assistant arrive around 1pm for their appointment which I was told would only take about 45mins-1hr.
As soon as the technician walked in, he proceeded to give me a sales pitch: "I can sell you the monitoring service for cheaper than what we were offering you initially." Being that I was out of my house for the next month, I figured why not, it's cheaper and I could use the added monitoring.
At that point, the technician quickly took my check for $120, and called in his order. MONEY FIRST.
Over the next 2 hours, the technician and his lackey proceeded to "install" my security system. Attempt after attempt, they tried to activate the system, claiming that I had a "bad keypad", then a "bad motion sensor", and finally "potentially bad wiring."
At this point, I was a bit frustrated, but understand that technical issues arise.
The technician then requested to use my bathroom, sure why not. He went into my bathroom, and came out 10 minutes later, only to have clogged the toilet. I grabbed my plunger and tried to clear the clog. After once flush, surprise surprise, the TOILET OVERFLOWED.
Now, with WATER ALL OVER MY BATHROOM FLOOR AND MY TOILET FLOODING, the technician says to me "OH IM SORRY I"LL CLEAN THAT UP ONCE WE"RE DONE." Are you kidding me?
Pissed off, I told them to hurry up and get the installation done. Another 45 minutes later (It has now been 3 hours), the technician took a paper towel roll and cleaned up the bathroom.
The tech now went on to "testing" my system before leaving. He armed and disarmed the system for a few seconds before walking out shamefully.

THE NEXT DAY
I am leaving for abroad and attempt to arm my new security system. I enter my code, and after the exiting beeps, guess what, THE ALARM GOES OFF IMMEDIATELY. GREAT, IT"S NOT WORKING PROPERLY.
Furious, I now have to spend an extra hour, moving my important valuables to my in-laws house because I didn't want to keep them in my apartment without a working security system. All the while, I have a flight that I need to catch.
I e-mail Avi, Lisa, and Melissa at Safe Life and here is the conversation:
------
Hi,
The guy came to install your security system the other day at my home.
I left my house today and the alarm went off right away once the countdown had ended. I had to reenter my house and turn off my alarm.
Your technician was quick to cash my check for $115, but my security system does not work. I am NOT happy at all,
I want a refund if this is not going to be worked out within the week.
-----
Keep in mind that I am out of town and nobody is around to let them in to fix it.
-----
I email again
-----
I would like to cancel the monitoring portion of my security service. I am unable to sort anyone to meet your installation guy, and did not anticipate that your system would just not work correctly. Since my installation 1.5 weeks ago, the system did not arm when we needed it to, and as a result we had to take most of the valuables out of our apartment before we left for our trip. It is no longer needed and we didn't get anything for our money.
Pease issue a refund immediately, I paid the install guy a personal check for approximately $120, you can mail me a check for the full amount to me.
-----
They finally respond:
I am sorry that you had to make other arrangements. We did try to make a follow up appointment but they were rescheduled once by us and if I remember correctly twice by you. You are in contract with us and we will be more than willing to fix the system.
-----
After some more back and forth, here is their reply:
I do believe we have responded. We have a signed contract and made attempts to make appointments to come fix the issue. We also tried to be accommodating by offering you the 6 month contract term as well, this is not something we offer. The last appointment was canceled by you. Like I said in my last response, I am sorry you had to remove your valuables while you went away, however we did offer to fix this issue in a timely fashion but we had no response from you. We cannot void your contract but we can fix the issue.

So that's it. A total lack of understanding, completely incompetent technicians, and the most inconsiderate service team I have ever encountered.
Be warned, this is a terrible company with terrible people. NOT WORTH the "added security" in your life. read more
