Great caring staff, good communication. My dog was very anxious the first time but they have worked well with her.

If you traveling with a pet and plan to go see Mount Rushmore, consider dropping him/her off at Safe Haven for the day. That is what we did and we were all happy. We saw the entire park and our dog sniffed butts and played with many other dogs. [NOTE: Unless you have a Service Dog, Mt Rushmore no longer allows dogs into the park. They have to stay in the area of the parking garage.] Safe Haven is a nice day care facility (they board and groom too). It is clean, air conditioned, has indoor/outdoor play areas and even beds for them to lounge on. I have posted a picture of my dog along with his new friends in the indoor play area so you can get an idea of what the yard looks like. The staff are super friendly here and they took great care of our old boy. The only down side is that they were a bit pricey. Should I need pet services the next time I am in Rapid City, I would consider using Safe Haven again. read more

Safe Haven Pet Resort came to our rescue when visiting Mt Rushmore. Our pit bull Lady got an over night stay after kindly being asked to leave our campground. She did nothing wrong except for being born the wrong breed. SHPR took our sweet girl in and she had a blast! We got a good report that she had a great time and was asked to come again. Sadly we are only passing through town crossing the country. The staff was super kind and helpful. I would def recommend this facility for your pet's home away from home. I took my cocker spaniel, Charlie, here his entire life. He was six months old on his first visit and twelve years old on his last visit. I called to make a appointment for get grooming for my dog and I was told that the groomer was leaving for the day because she was done. (At 2pm on a Monday.) I understand but this is not the first time I called. The groomer seems to never be there or I can't get a appointment! I was told she is there mornings if I can try and catch her, Really?! I work a full time job from 8 to 5pm like many of us. The only thing I will say was the young lady that answered the phone was nice. I took my "grooming" business to T and Bonnie's where they have normal hours and someone is always there and they are cheaper as well! read more

This daycare was awesome! We were from out of town, and wanted to do some sightseeing. After meeting and speaking with the owner, and seeing her interaction with our dog, we felt completely comfortable leaving her there all day. I highly recommend this place! read more

I would give this groomer no stars or negative stars if i could. They burnt and caused for $100 in damage to our dog. There groomer is rude and has no customer service ability at all. I would highly recommend finding another groomer for your dog, Rapid City has many other choices. Do not take your dog to this groomer!! read more

I know there will be some days this summer where I won't have the time to give my dog the care and attention she deserves. She is kennel trained and doesn't mind napping all day, but I wanted something more for her. Thank goodness we found Safe Haven! The staff truly understands dog behavior, and knows what is required to provide a safe, enjoyable environment that contributes to your dog being a well balanced canine citizen. Daycare is an extremely good value for us - for the price of a fast food meal, my little girl can play and nap to her heart's content, while honing valuable social skills that truly make her (wo)man's best friend. My expectations were beyond exceeded. We've left our dog for boarding serval times while stationed at Ellsworth AFB and he is always happy and clean when we pick him up. I love seeing pictures on Facebook of his stay and I can call anytime to check up on him while he's there. Ver professional staff and reasonably priced. I was in Rapid City on the recent 105 degree day, and my young Golden, Bear, was traveling with me. It was obviously far too hot to even think about leaving him in the car for the couple of hours I needed to take care of some business, so I gave the folks at Safe Haven a call. Not only did they accept Bear on short notice, but the warm and welcoming greeting we received was a joy. They took great care of him, let him play with some of the other pups there, and when I returned a short time later, Bear was in great spirits, he was welcomed to return at any time, and we left knowing that I had made the right choice. Safe Haven was a godsend on that day, and I can't say enough about the wonderful staff we met. Thank you all!! See you again sometime. read more

Above and beyond my expectations by miles and miles! I had completely blanked on the time I was supposed to kennel my dog with another company and ended up missing their open hours. I panicked and googled this place and gave them a call, doubting they would have space available the day I needed it. But they did! I brought him in that day, along with his medical records and food. Come to find out, we were missing some shots he needed (I panicked again!), but the staff was super helpful in directing me on where to go and what to do to get him up to date. In maybe an hour he was all processed and good to go- they even let him participate in doggy daycare so that he could go out and get some exercise. I also loved the daily photos on Facebook so I could check in on him. He looked happy and healthy every day he was there! Price is comparable to other boarding places around the area but I feel like you get a lot more bang for your buck here. Thank you for all of your help, ladies. We will definitely be using you again when we need to board our boy! read more

We left our lovely dog at Safe Haven Pet Resort while we went sightseeing in the Black Hills. I was a bit worried about leaving her with people we had never met, but my fears were allayed when we went to drop her off. The staff was very friendly and caring, we could tell she'd be in good hands. We picked up an happy, tired dog at the end of the day. We even had her groomed the 2nd day and she came out very soft and pretty. I wouldn't hesitate to leave our dog with them again. read more

These guys were so awesome to watch my PWC so I could go to Mt Rushmore and not leave her in the car! They were such nice people (even recommended a place for breakfast!), everything smelled good, my dog had fun and slept so well on the rest of our drive for the day! These guys are awesome.
