I had a very concerning experience at Hunt Club Pediatrics during an urgent mental health situation…read moreinvolving my child. I scheduled an appointment after being instructed by a treatment facility that a primary care referral was needed to begin the process for residential placement. When I made the appointment, I clearly explained the purpose, and this was confirmed by front desk staff as being documented in my file. At the time of the visit, my child was in an active mental health crisis, and I communicated the urgency multiple times. However, upon arrival, I was met with resistance and a lack of urgency from the office manager/registrar. I was told that I had not properly informed the office of the reason for the visit--despite staff confirming that I had. I was also told that because I initially contacted a different office location, I was considered "non-compliant," even though the appointment was correctly scheduled and documented at this location. During the visit: * I repeatedly stated this was an emergency * The referring facility was on the phone requesting direct communication * Multiple attempts were made to connect them with staff * Despite this, there were delays and a continued focus on administrative "notice" issues rather than patient care I was also informed that the staff member responsible would be leaving at a specific time, which made the situation even more time-sensitive. Despite that, no urgency was demonstrated. This resulted in: * Delays in initiating necessary care during a psychiatric crisis * Dismissive and unprofessional communication * Unnecessary barriers to urgent care In a situation involving a child in crisis, patient safety and timely care should come first. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I hope the office reviews its procedures and staff training for handling urgent mental health situations so that other families do not face similar obstacles when seeking critical care.

Appointments were easy to schedule - three of four kids seen back to back. For a mom of four kids, that is a lifesaver. He has a calm and jovial manner, he is thorough and has no problem answering questions. You would think that's all you could ask for but our experience has been astounding. Dr. Selsky found a heart murmur in my son that was missed by his previous pediatrician. We were shocked and very worried. But Dr. Selsky is incredibly thorough. He does not do generic referrals. He will refer you to a specific doctor at a specific location and he has stayed right on top of our child's diagnosis. Our child needs a heart cath procedure and Dr. Selsky is in full contact with his cardiology team. We feel he may have saved our sons life and definitely saved him years of worse medical issues. We thought that was fantastic. We've felt so lucky to have him and then today we had to call the after hours medical provider. Imagine my surprise that it is Dr. Selsky himself. We are blown away. There is no better pediatrician or team in the area. Each person employed at that office is VERY on top of the kids care. This is THE pediatrician to choose. Thank you Dr. Selsky.

They're patient and attentive and great with the kids. We feel heard and respected as we play a role in understanding every step of our kids' care. The front desk staff is terrible. Whether I'm coming or going, in person or on the phone, they seem irritated and short. The experience they provide is a contradiction of everything that happens in the actual patient room. Over 3.5 years it's become a joke to our family that we can always expect them to be rude. It's hard to get the appointment time you want, but that's understandable with such a busy office. I still recommend this office to any parent or soon-to-be-parent-- with the warning to look past the front desk.
