Great place to have a kid's birthday party!…read more My daughter was invited to a party here, which involved a pony ride during the entire party. The girls took turns and, after they each had a turn, started asking to go again, and again, and again. Both the pony & handler were extremely friendly and patient with the kids. We also took a little tour of the stables and got to see all of the other horses. Nicely maintained area, great staff, and also looks like they have some great riding classes, if you happen to be looking for that sort of thing.

The guide was terrible and completely disengaged from the start. He didn't say a word to us when we…read morestarted the trail and wasn't even paying attention. He was impatient and seemed like he didn't want to be there. If you don't have any experience riding horses, this is not the place for you. (You can check one of two boxes for any experience from riding 0-10 times or more than 10 times.) The horse, Oreo, only wanted to eat grass, and I struggled as soon as we got to the park. We were told both horses were calm. The guide barked instruction from the front of the other rider instead of coming over to explain. He just kept telling me to kick the horse harder and pull the reins harder. I would pull the reins up and the horse would immediately put his head back down to eat grass. I tried multiple times to get him away from the grassy area. I was afraid and felt unstable, so I grabbed the saddle and the guide fussed at me for grabbing the saddle. He repeated the same instructions over again, which weren't working, and eventually came over to me. I ended up being terrified on top of the horse. So, the guide called someone to come out and help. I didn't feel safe at that point and just asked to get down. I ended up walking back and will never get on another horse after this experience. There's no refunds. It was a total waste of time. The other workers didn't seem to believe me when I complained about the guide (big guy named Lane, I think) until the one other rider explained how disengaged the guide acted. My friend has done a bunch of trail rides and never experienced such bad service. Save your money and go do something else. This stable doesn't care about its riders.

There is something magical about picking blueberries. Out in nature, far from the hustle n bustle…read moreof the city. It is beautiful and peaceful out here. I made our reservations online, easy peasy. The drive took about 45 minutes from New Orleans and it was easy to find with GPS. There is plenty of places to park, buckets are provided and they start promptly at 8:00am. If you want blackberries, arrive early! Blueberries are plentiful! We had 2 adults, a 12 year old and a 2 year old. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we came back 2 weeks later. We picked for about 2 hours, took a break and had a picnic at one of the picnic tables provided. We fed horses with biscuits that the farm has on hand, for free. Then we picked for a little longer. While there, we genuinely felt welcome by the owner and his daughter who were sweet and happy to share their bounty. We took home blackberries, zucchini, peppers, beans, honey, a ton of blueberries and priceless memories. We look forward to next year!

So let me tell you a story…read more When I was growing up there were railroad tracks not far from where I lived. During the summer my sisters and I would go on the tracks and spend hours picking blackberries. We'd go home with tons of them and fingers stained black from the juice. After rinsing them off we'd sprinkle sugar on them and devour them. They were so delicious that we'd usually do it all again the next day. Blackberries are still my favorite of all the berries. There is no way in hell I'd let my children go walking up and down railroad tracks now that I'm a parent (what was our mother thinking!?) but there's a special place that I can take them where they can make their own memories. Ridemore Berry Farm is a pick your own farm in Covington. They have blackberries and blueberries to pick during berry season which is mid May to the beginning of July. There's also a nice little area to have a picnic if you'd like to bring lunch when you visit. You should probably arrive early because my sisters and I might beat you to it and pick all of those yummy blackberries. Seriously. All is fair in love and blackberry picking!

They don't give you much time to learn how to "steer" a horse but you really don't need it. These horses know what they're doing and where they're going. Some horses are even like robots and walk themselves, so less to be nervous about haha. KUDOS to our trail guide, who was riding her horse while turned around talking to all of 4 of us while holding her young son in her arms! She made it look as easy as blinking your eyes. BEWARE: there is a GUARD GOOSE that will ATTACK! Did y'all know geese have teeth? I didn't either but I sure do now...

Yeap 5 stars! I was…read moreso excited for this!! My 2nd time riding a horse. It's a long ride from the city but totally worth it. We also saw geese, roosters and couple of other animals. Geese are very territorial, one chased us lol. Found a groupon for 6, which helped a lot. I called ahead of time to make reservations, Lionel was very helpful. We had to make last minute change to our reservation and he did an awesome job finding us another time. It's a family business, all the horses they train were rescued. One of the horses ran races and won. I loved hear kind tenet stories through our amazing trainer Melissa. The ride takes about an hour, the rain made the trail extra muddy which was a good surprise. I am sure the horses liked it mote than us. Our shoes got really muddy by the end lol. Don't forget to tip your trainers! They work really hard to take care of the horses and make the trail ride fun. Highly recommended, I'll definitely return.
