The owner was very rude about her lack of knowledge of bone preparation and taxidermy. Extremely mean shop owner do not shop here.

I have never in all my life seen anything like this. I am a Floyd county native who spent most of my life here and I decided to take my out of town friend to this store because he loves dragons and fantasy and both of us were kicked out because he was taking pictures of all the beat things for his scrap book and for his website. The owner was a complete control freak who basically had the air of, well I own this place, I can do whatever the hell I want and told us that she didn't need to put up a no photograph sign. Basically a thing of I'll do whatever the hell I want and screw you if you don't like it. I have never been so offended by my own town in my entire life, who embarrassed me in front of my friend who I was trying to cheer up by showing the sites. Do yourself a favor, never go to this place, you deserve to be treated better. read more

The store has an eclectic array of items. Extremely overpriced. The owner is probably the rudest store owner I have ever met. She was rude because she made clear she does not like children or children in her store. I wonder if I was supposed to tie him up like a dog out front. Yes we had his backpack leash because it's a busy road and we knew those stores had a lot of breakables in it. My grandson touched the front of the counter because it had a raised emblem on it and it rattled. I gently pulled him back and wAs telling him not to touch it when she interrupted started lecturing hon not to do it. First of all perhaps she should not have something half attached to a counter secondly I'm all for it for a shop owners say something if kids are running wild being destructive. He was neither of those things he didn't touch anything in that store except the front of her wooden counter where the cash register was. I knew she was being rude to me I couldn't figure out why until she was rude to him. I let it go while she was rude to me because my daughter the boys mother was looking for something. I however don't tolerate anyone speaking to my kids or grandkids. It would have been different if I wasn't in mud sentence telling him not to touch it because I could tell she didn't want us in there because we had a child with us. Wish granted we will never spend another dollar there and she can count on us spreading the word every chance we get. She obviously doesn't care if she loses customers who by the way we care repeat customers cone back or not. We will not. Hope to see your store front vacant soon. read more

We came from far away to visit Floyd and actually visit the local shops this was one of them we looked into. My husband does professional photography and we took a few shots right next to the store super cute little area. There were no signs stating you couldn't stand next to the store etc. Only there for a few minutes, and actually about to explore this store. Extremely rude women who worked there came out not inviting, but extremely rude. This was a good occasion for us, so the way she acted was very shocking. I asked about local fields for the public and she literally responded "I wouldn't tell you if we did go ask them."... I was asking about the parkway or a overlook but ok.. lol. We were all pretty confused and shocked at how rude she was to complete strangers. I am a massage therapist and would of gone and bought stones etc., but after the women we encountered who worked there we decided we don't support a business with that kind of customer service or bad energy. read more

The shop owner called my mom to inform her later and used words like malicious when describing my daughter who is 10.. We offered to pay for the candles along with the shipping to have them shipped to us(it is not an easy drive and we were visiting from out of town.) The owner decided instead of us paying for the damage and accepting the damaged items to deny the restitution and just throw away the items and ban us from the store. This does not impact me or my kids as we are from out of town, but my mom who lives close and often shops there for gifts. I was also told that the shop owner felt my daughter would not learn from the incident as she did not apologize to the shop owner or the person who made the candles. How I punish my child for bad behavior should not be the concern of a shop owner. Keep in mind that we were not in there spending a couple of dollars, we both made significant purchases in the shop. Just putting that out there so it was not assumed we were loitering. End all be all, do NOT bring kids into this shop or anyone who is on the spectrum or has sensory curiosity . I do not write a lot of reviews, but the way this was approached was unprofessional and just a prime example for my children of the kind of human they should not be, especially when you have someone who is willing to make it right. read more
