Lynn, tested my hair before feeling comfortable doing it, being honest if it was not recommended, even the test strand was with care & time. With two options, a traditional perm & healthier option. Since I have long hair and wanted spiral coily hair, this took five hours, BUT, Lynn cared for every individual strand! She genuinely took her time grabbing and perfecting every strand. It looked so natural and so bouncy! It felt like such a personal experience, I felt cared for and I do not believe I would've gotten the same treatment elsewhere given my long previously dyed hair. I did research for a few years before landing on Lynn, I'm so happy I did! She even let me go with fruit for the road. Shes so kind and accommodating. She's so precious!!!!

Sounds funny, but eh, at least I don't have the mushroom top head look. My thick hair and the cut I want is not an easy hair cut to do. The description sounds funny, but with gel it's a clean military look or akin to school kids going to grade school. Not my thing but, the maturity aura can be fixed with longer hair on top. Believe the best way to say is it that I have a heart shaped face. That means the top of my hair should look like an egg to my preference. The haircut I want isn't for the faint. Mess up and you cannot fix it. It's why most fades on my hair type sticks out and is not flat on the sides like a flat top. Once Mindy understood I was willing to take the risk, I was rewarded in something that many hairdressers cannot cut and or is willing to do. Which is to fade free hand, then rat tail comb fade the edges on top with a clipper and texture with scissors. Mind you I watched a long time before giving her the go ahead to take the risk. Sounds a lot of work right? Hair dressers will complain doing this type of cut. It's a lot of work, will take time. Mindy does this for me. And for that I tip well. To be fair, I get my hair cut once a month. But it's usually the best way to learn as the hair has grown out and everything needs to be redone again. Note. Tip what you can, I usually tip hourly wage max to half. Mindy gets more, that's how much I like the cut. 15 to 25 percent minimum wage is a good tip. That being said Mindy takes time, is patient, and remembers you. Everything you would want in a hairdresser. I really should come every two weeks but I got things to do. Mindy does textbook style hair cutting. Which doesn't work with my hair cause you don't really expect an Asian with an Afro like hair type, thick, and straight. Takes time to learn cultured hair types. My hair is a rarity. Mindy learned quickly how to cut and tame it. Qualities of a true hair dresser. Note. I got my hair cut by Lynn too. She's good, but she's busy and I believe she understands my haircut and hair is annoying to do. The guy and new girl are good too. Just a preference and patience to be had.

I called the Grove in the morning and explained the situation. Amari kindly let us in at 11:30, bless her. I explained the situation and again reiterated that it was my fault because of maybe the verbiage I used. She heard me out and validated me, and once she started cutting my son's hair it already looked a lot better. I will be coming back to Amari! I went to the location and it is in old town Elk Grove right next to the railroad tracks. They do have street parking and a cross the street is a parking lot. I got a spot there. After he had left I thanked the barber for fitting me in since I had no appointment. The barber was named Justin. I told him that my wife wanted my hair to look like Thor's haircut and I showed him a picture. He said that the hair in the picture was different than mine but he could get close to it. I told him great. Justin did a great job on my hair and I was very happy with the new look. He charged me $30 bucks which was a straight cut and no wash. Recently a friend tagged them on IG and I was impressed. So my son and I took a look at some of the posts from their barbers and he really liked the line ups of Huicho. So I set an appointment for him that same day. Huicho was super nice and chill. My son really liked him and told me that's his new barber. He did exactly what my son liked. His old barber was good but the lineups were never consistent and often times sideways. Thankfully not pushed back but I would have to fix it. However, Huicho lined him up straight and the rest of the cut was perfect. My son came out with more confidence and came back telling me he needed to go tip him more because the cut was so good. I sent my friend and her son and they had someone named JJ and his work was also very good, I believe they said JJ will now be their sons main barber. When I got to the second location, things went downhill fast. Even though a big "Now Open" sign was displayed, the lights were off, the door was locked, and the place looked completely deserted. No barber in sight. No sign of life. Nothing. A few minutes later, I got a call from Weez informing me he wasn't working that day after all. He said he'd try to get me another appointment and promised to call me back in three minutes. That call never came. No update. No apology. No follow-through. By this point, I had wasted my time, wasted my morning, and was now late for a meeting across town because of their complete inability to manage basic scheduling or communication.
