I am new to the area, and out of all the doctors and midwives I had talked to, this place was definitely my favorite! They listened to my concerns, helped me with my birth plan, and really let me be in control over all my options and decisions. They helped guide and prep me for the natural unmedicated birth that I wanted, and gave me plenty of information to take home and look over. Pregnancy and delivery can be an overwhelming experience, but they made it so much easier. When it came to delivery, I wouldn't have been able to follow through with my birth plan without them. They kept me going when I felt like giving up, and they made sure that they did all they could to keep me and the baby healthy. I am forever grateful for their hard work and patience

After having the typical office visits and finding out how much my high deductible insurance was going to cost monthly with them and their unwillingness to work with other payment plans, I looked into other birthing methods. I won't lie, the price was the leading factor. However, once I found out there is a birthing center near me I KNEW I had to check it out and I'm so very glad I did. My boyfriend wasn't as keen on the idea but was open to meeting them because he knew how excited I was over it. We met with one of the midwives and she more than answered my long list of questions. She reassured him as well so that he became excited at this experience also. I haven't given birth here yet but I'm down to bi-weekly appointments now with baby due mid-July. I've meet all of the midwives at DeLand except for Kaleen but have an appointment set up with her for later in the month. Everyone has been great so far; it's so opposite from the typical hospital visit and I love that. The atmosphere is so much better than being at a hospital. My greatest worry? That I DON'T end up giving birth here for some reason.

I first met with Michelle for a consultation, where she assured me she would personally handle my entire pregnancy, be on call 24/7, and be present for all appointments. Based on that representation, I paid the $1,500 registration fee. However, at my first prenatal appointment--at 19 weeks--I was suddenly assigned to a completely different midwife without any notice or explanation. The midwife (Robin) appeared inexperienced and unsure of how to perform even basic clinical tasks: * She struggled to operate the balance scale and gave me a weight that was clearly inaccurate. * She incorrectly calculated my due date by four months, despite having my last menstrual period date in front of her. * She could not confidently locate my baby's heartbeat, confused my pulse with the fetal heart rate, and claimed the "fetal heart rate was low" without certainty. * She took my blood pressure over a thick long-sleeve sweater, which is not proper medical procedure. * She then told me to go directly to the emergency room, claiming she had called ahead to have a bed ready. This caused extreme panic and emotional distress. Additionally, if she genuinely believed this was a medical emergency concerning my unborn child, she should have called an ambulance, not told a pregnant woman to get on the highway and drive herself while terrified. That is a fundamental violation of basic safety protocol. While driving--shaken and scared--I called the center back and asked for Michelle. Only then did I learn that I should not go to the hospital and instead return to the birthing center immediately. Michelle also mentioned she had dinner plans, which was unprofessional given the crisis her staff had just created. When I returned, Michelle immediately reassessed me. She used the Doppler and her handheld ultrasound, confirming that my baby was moving normally and not in any distress. She found the heartbeat quickly and without any issue. My baby was perfectly fine. The earlier panic, incorrect information, and poor clinical judgment were completely unnecessary and unacceptable. I have worked in the legal field for over five years, and everything about this experience raises serious concerns about medical malpractice, negligence, and unsafe clinical practices. I requested a full refund and will no longer be receiving care here. I will also be reporting this incident to the Florida Department of Health, as no expectant mother should be subjected to incorrect medical information, unsafe instructions, or avoidable fear. Expectant mothers deserve competent, consistent, and safe care--not panic, confusion, and contradictory assessments.

Chelsea ended up being our Doula when I went into labor and she went above and beyond, showing up at the hospital and being exactly what we needed in the moment. Her calm, reassuring presence made all the difference. We felt well-prepared going into the birth thanks to the time she spent with us beforehand, answering every question and walking us through what to expect. When labor began, we felt ready--and during the birth, her support and knowledge were invaluable. What we really appreciated was the ability to reach out with questions both before and after the birth too. Having that level of access and guidance was incredibly comforting during such a life-changing time. I've attended her pre-natal yoga class twice a week for 7 months of my pregnancy, and only missed 3 classes. She is an amazing yoga instructor for pregnant women. I also had two individual sessions with her close to my due date which made big differences in my body. The morning after our session, my belly dropped significantly, which was the goal. As far as labor, she was up with us for almost 50 hours, helping us to keep positive through the contractions, trekking the halls of the hospital with me, and sacrificing her own sleep for even a few minutes of mine and my husband's. This, along with her bi-weekly prenatal yoga class throughout my pregnancy, has made a world of difference in my connection to our birthing journey. We will always have a special place in our hearts for this amazing friend and doula. Overall, I highly recommend her services, and will continue to see her for post-natal yoga.

She was also able to ward off carpal tunnel which was starting to develop in my wrists by targeting the area immediately, I am amazed at what she is able to do! Never did I think at 39 weeks pregnant I would answer "I feel great!" and truly mean it, when someone asks. Adriana is incredible in so many areas and I could not recommend her enough.

I was ready to stop doing my own search for a midwife and finally go by word of mouth instead. I was failing too often on my own and was ready for some personal experiences backing up a referral. I made my appointment by calling Kelli on her cell phone - she was so gracious and sweet and gave me the number of her office to book my appointment. Before Kelli, I was about to give up on finding the right midwife and just go for doctor appointments instead which I really didn't want to do but the emotional roller coaster otherwise was killing me. I hadn't felt that "connection" with a midwife yet and kept hearing other people talk about how they just loved their midwife and knew right away how she was right for them. What was wrong with me? I hadn't found that yet. My first appointment with Kelli and one of her students was AMAZING. We were smiling, laughing, having a great time. It happened to be right before Halloween and her house (also her office) was decked out in Halloween decorations. We drove in the first driveway on accident, her husband was luckily on his tractor and let our clueless selves in. The house was totally haunted out and we were wondering if we were at the right place at all. We looked around and laughed and knocked, no answer... then finally an answer (we also came in the front instead of the side/back where everyone else does!) Her receptionist was sooooo friendly, personable and enjoyable. We talked to her for a while as we waited for Kelli. I appreciated Kelli taking the time for the mother ahead of us as I knew she would do that for me if I needed it, too. She apologized for the delay and when we sat down and talked and explained about our journey to her, we all just felt connected and great about the whole thing. I knew my mom would love Kelli just as I did which is important to me since my mom will be at the birth and wants to know I am in good hands til she is able to be here too. Our second appointment wasn't as enjoyable because there were a few too many students there - but I was able to openly express this to Kelli and she made it just as it was on our first appointment and it has been great going back ever since. It doesn't feel crowded, and my husband I feel at ease there in the room with them. They always greet everyone with a hug and ask how you're doing. It feels like hanging out with friends. Kelli has a calmness about her that puts me at ease, knowing she will take care of me and I don't have to worry even though everything is new and unknown to me. She has given me some amazing literature to read and educate myself. She lets me make my own decisions and supports me along the way. She doesn't force anything on me and offers suggestions when I have questions or concerns. She is very open and doesn't force vaccinations or anything unnatural which is greatly appreciated. I feel very comfortable with her and am looking forward to continuing my journey with her. From all the stories she has shared with me, she doesn't seem like one to intrude on pregnancy but rather lets it happen naturally and encourages you to listen to your body and empower yourself as a woman. I really like that, it reminds me I can do this on my own. I was created to do this. She is a very encouraging an empowering midwife and I am happy so far. I would highly recommend her and look forward to continuing my journey through giving birth in April. I've decided on an at home water birth.

That gave me so much confidence in her as there really isn't anything she hasn't seen or handled. She is deeply concerned with your care and personal wellbeing. Her prenatal care is exceptional. She really took time with me and my husband at each appointment to talk with us, answer our questions and educate us on what was coming next. By the time we got to the birth she felt like family. She was exactly who I wanted in my corner for a 34 hour labor!!! Kelli was patient, problem solving when labor stalled, and most importantly vigilant about making sure baby was safe and doing well. I'm sure I would have likely ended up in a unwanted c-section if I had been in the hospital due to the length of my labor. However, Kelli my amazing and encouraging cheer leader guided me through the hardest thing I've ever done and saw me through to the end. I am forever grateful and blessed to have found her and to have her help bring my daughter into the world!
