I am new to the area, and out of all the doctors and midwives I had talked to, this place was definitely my favorite! They listened to my concerns, helped me with my birth plan, and really let me be in control over all my options and decisions. They helped guide and prep me for the natural unmedicated birth that I wanted, and gave me plenty of information to take home and look over. Pregnancy and delivery can be an overwhelming experience, but they made it so much easier. When it came to delivery, I wouldn't have been able to follow through with my birth plan without them. They kept me going when I felt like giving up, and they made sure that they did all they could to keep me and the baby healthy. I am forever grateful for their hard work and patience

After having the typical office visits and finding out how much my high deductible insurance was going to cost monthly with them and their unwillingness to work with other payment plans, I looked into other birthing methods. I won't lie, the price was the leading factor. However, once I found out there is a birthing center near me I KNEW I had to check it out and I'm so very glad I did. My boyfriend wasn't as keen on the idea but was open to meeting them because he knew how excited I was over it. We met with one of the midwives and she more than answered my long list of questions. She reassured him as well so that he became excited at this experience also. I haven't given birth here yet but I'm down to bi-weekly appointments now with baby due mid-July. I've meet all of the midwives at DeLand except for Kaleen but have an appointment set up with her for later in the month. Everyone has been great so far; it's so opposite from the typical hospital visit and I love that. The atmosphere is so much better than being at a hospital. My greatest worry? That I DON'T end up giving birth here for some reason.

She is always on time with appointments, upmost care and explains all testing, while allowing you to choose what is best for you. She just delivered my son, two days ago, and was here for me when I needed her most. Serena came as soon as I called her, stayed with me all night even though it wasn't quite time. She kept me company and gave me comfort/peace of mind. The Birth Tribe also provides postpartum care as well, to make sure mom and baby are doing well. I recommend this service for anyone interested in the best prenatal, homebirth, and postpartum care there is! I have never felt so comfortable with a provider in any field, than I have with Serena. From our first phone call to our 6 week postpartum check-up the entire team was caring and attentive and amazingly gracious given the obvious drama that comes with pregnancy. They are truly called to a beautiful service and their bedside manner and humanity with their mamas in unmatched; certainly not something that I believe one could find in a stuffy hospital setting. Because of the women at Sacred Birth we were able to welcome our beautiful baby boy safely and peacefully into the world in the comfort of our own home. I am high strung and a bit of a stress bucket and was especially through my pregnancy but the women with Sacred Birth went out of their way to bring me back down to earth when I needed, supported me every step of the way and truly saw me as another human being and mama to be and not just a patient on a flip chart. They didn't rush our labor at all and took great care to check on our baby boy after every push. We got a beautiful tour of the placenta and plenty of time for the rest of the blood from it to finish loading our baby boy with all of the iron and oxygen that he needed. No quick clamping and cutting with these ladies! I also love how involved my husband was able to be! He was at nearly every appointment and they included him in all of our discussions and answered all of the questions that he posed to them. They suggested reading material which we both benefited from tremendously and they really empowered us to be a birthing team in our own unique and intuitive way which we are now able to carry through into our parenting. I truly miss the entire team and honestly wish I was still able to see them every couple of weeks! I truly cannot say enough about this incredible team and if we end up having another little member of the family they will be the first call we make.

My daughter had a wonderful home birth with Karen and 2 student midwives on10/27/13. Now pregnant again, she is gratefully returning to Karen, who has moved to a new Port Orange office location,btw. Home birth is not for everyone. But if you are a healthy woman, with no complications that would make home birth not a choice, visit Karen. You will experience health care beyond anything you will experience with GYN MD or hospital birth. I had a home birth in1985..... beyond words to describe how amazing. Scared and dismayed by hospital birth choices in Ft. Lauderdale, and encouraged by an engineer friend who had 3 home births, I had first visit with Sara Pinkman at 6 months pregnant. Please don't wait that long to visit Karen. Midwives need to establish a relationship with you. My love and respect for Karen is huge. Just FYI, I am a retired RN. Home birth is safe.

Robin (Licensed Midwife) is super sweet, soft spoken, always has a natural remedy for little symptoms throughout the time. The receptionist, Kat, is ON IT and also super sweet every time you arrive and is super helpful with anything insurance/money/ documentation - and she genuinely has your back with all of that stuff. I was blessed with a (relatively speaking) easy pregnancy but Robin answered 2/2 of my late night SOS calls that I had during that time frame. And when I called thinking labor was starting she was ready to get there and support me, no hesitation, despite it being a seemingly fast timeline (and thank goodness she trusted me and was ready, because I was 8-9cm by the time I got there). Overall, I wouldn't trade this experience for the world. Thank you, Robin & Kat! Love you, ladies!
