We booked this as a tour for around 9 people on Friday the 13th earlier this year, and unfortunately did not have a great experience, however I can see how this would be a great experience if the circumstances were different -- so 2 stars for potential. The directions were not clear as to where we were supposed to arrive. There was no address to meet at. After going back and forth with customer service, they eventually gave a landmark, which did not exist in the uber and Lyft apps and was questionable on Google Maps. Everyone in their uber got dropped off to different places. The directions also said to go to "the yellow building" -- but when we arrived, there were several yellow buildings. The tour guide also was not carrying a lantern, which was part of the directions given (look for the person carrying a lantern.) When we finally found her, we asked the tour guide where her lantern was, she said she didn't want to carry it around all night. We also believe the tour guide was late. We were in the area looking for her for about 15 minutes and we passed by the same spot she ended up being at several times and did not see anyone. Finally they called and we went back to the spot and she was there. This was around 5 minutes past the start time. Then she told us we only have until 7:30. So we are ending on time but she didn't start on time? The tour guide took us around to several bars, but the first one she admitted that it was not even haunted, or that she was not sure if the bar was haunted or not as she was not familiar with the bar. So I'm confused why we went there? There was also no indication that this was only going to be an hour and a half. It was fun bar hopping with our friends in some spooky places, but considering I paid almost three hundred dollars for the group I expected a higher quality experience. read more

3.5- 4 stars The not great: The meetup location moved to in front of the restrooms so that was easy to find (if you checked the email not the website) but aromatic. Check in was 7:45 to start at 8. Alexis showed up around 8:10. Fast talking and almost mumbling at times was challenging. If you go on a Friday in October, the movie night event can impede on their tour. If it had started on time, we may have missed the movie ending though while we were at the Eagle Theater where they tear down. You're told the 30 min extra time you pay for is really 15 or so minutes and only a couple stories. Was the bonus tour worth it? The one major story was good. Any else felt more glossed over or were recommendations what to look up or watch documentaries on. The good: Alexis seemed to really love talking about history and the drama that comes with ghost stories and "Scandals, Shadows, and Secrets." Showed concern and commented on cars and music that went by while she paused to make sure she didn't have to talk over it. Some stories were pretty cool. I only doubt the accuracy due to some other reviews here. She always made sure we were safe crossing the street, that the group was all together, and that the mic worked for everyone. Overall, it's ok. I'd say maybe not go on a Friday/Saturday night bc of noise and other events but that's exactly when you do want to go. Same for going in October. Other events in spots they want to stop at but it's spooky season so of course that's when you want to go. I really had a good time with who I was with so that made it 100% worth it. read more

It was easy to spot our tour guide, Dane, who was carrying an old fashion lantern and standing next to the Ferris wheel. TIP: plan a very late lunch or very early dinner for this event. Parking in old Sacramento is a shit show if you want street parking. The roads are bumpy due to cobblestone and there are zero traffic lights in the immediate area to regulate traffic so you would need to watch out for a ton of pedestrians. You can park in the parking structure next to the California Railroad Musuem for a flat fee of $15 for the stay and avoid all that traffic. Plenty of entertainment until your tour starts. The tour was entertaining yet super sad to the nature of being the Wild West. Natural disasters and unscrupulous ppl = so much tragedy. We walked from one end to the other in the area and learned about the history behind our state capitol. We truly enjoyed our experience! read more

I am just highly dissatisfied with calling the phone number that is provided here on Yelp because the lady that answered the phone did not know what I was talking about nor could she understand common and proper English! I was trying to verify if this was a veteran owned business, and she did not know what I was talking about! I am a veteran and love to support Veteran businesses. I would recommend ghost tour. Lydia was our guide. She was awesome. She had so much information about the history of the buildings. Our EMfF detector was going off like crazy in certain locations. Had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Emma. She is a great tour guide. She knew her history information about Sacramento well and had a charming personality. We walked to about 7 locations. It was about an hour in length. If you like learning about the history of Sacramento and some haunting chills this is for you! This reminded me of a similar tour I did in Salem Massachusetts. It was easy to find her at the meeting point. She didn't have the USGA black T shirt on but she was wearing all black with a lantern so I spotted her easily. This was such a fun tour. We honestly only booked it because we needed to kill time while our son was at a concert. We saw it & thought why not. We love anything paranormal & anything about history. Horrible history! This tour was not worth it. Our guide was 20 minutes late and then proceeded to tell us that the tour was only 30 minutes long, even though my ticket clearly stated "one hour". The guide provided incorrect dates and fabricated facts. There are NOT tunnels or dead bodies under the streets of Old Sacramento. Most of the tour focused on incorrect history, and the few ghost stories were just added in between. Even our guide recommended that we take the underground tours with the museum. The tour would have been that much better if we would have been able to enter some of the establishments and use our EMF readers. I have lived in Sacramento my entire life and did not know some of the history that Gabby explained. Wandered for about 40 min searching for the start place of tour. Found another person who'd also purchased tickets in advance searching for the start of tour. It was not at the location stated when we purchased tickets, at the Delta King. Huge disappointment as the execution was so flawed due to the location of start of tour not clear. Guide wasn't carrying a lantern to clue us in. Start of tour was on another street no where near where they started it'd start on the Website. Ethan was our tour's host for our night of horrible history and terrible tales. My wife and I live in Old Sacramento and we love the history of the area. Much like the History Museum, Underground Tours, and Train Museum, this tour is essential Old Sac knowledge. After learning about palaces where the city has historically housed its diseased, dying, and dead denizens, there are some buildings I will never look at the same way again. Went on this tour with the tour guide, Kyndl. She was a great history storyteller, but this tour wasn't what we expected. It was a very history channel and zero upbeat energy or scary ghost tales. If you want to know scaramento history, it's a must. If you want to have a fun night feeling a little spooked, this isn't it. Me, my husband and mom left feeling sleepy and had more fun watching ghost adventures at home the day prior. Also, if Kyndl reads this, it's "Chupacabra." This tour is loaded with ALOT of history. Our guide, Rusty, had a profound amount of information. We were expecting to enter some of the buildings in the tour, but only stood outside while he delivered the information. It was a Friday night and old town started getting busy and it made for a lot of distractions. If you're looking for lots of information and a knowledgeable guide, Rusty is perfect. The only thing that would have made it 5 stars is more interaction with the locations. I would avoid bringing children under 10 for risk of boredom. read more
