I used to sell yarn and fabric, so I loved the different textures and materials on display, from a luxuriously dense knit sweater to an elegant silk blouse. The design of each item was trendy but approachable -- I am a jeans and t-shirt kinda lady but I saw things I would wear. So why didn't I come home with a whole new wardrobe? Price, of course, sigh. Les Étoffes is definitely a special-occasion boutique, and alas I was only sightseeing. While I was there, though, a young man was trying on shirts and mentioned that he was making his first L.E. purchase. It seemed like he'd been looking forward to that day for a while.

They carry ties, bowties, belts, watches, wallets, rings, bracelets, cufflinks, lapel pins, necklaces, underwear, and other accessories. Much of the store includes finely curated, quality brands that are often hard to find. But their crowning gem are their custom ties and bowties. They have flare, can be bold in modern, and yet are crafted from fine silks and cottons from all over the world. They'll even make something with fabric of your choosing--tailors for men's accessories! Genius. The staff was one of the tailors and super helpful and engaging. She goes on trade shows and tends to sell out everything when she goes. There are very few repeats and eat time is unique. Aside from Betina Lou and Marmier, their men's wear line, they also carry pieces from Odeyalo and Amanda Moss who will make you look so chic and professional while you are secretly so goddamn comfortable it's like you're getting away with something. Five stars for absolutely first class customer service on a walk-in repair job…read more Short version: Through blatant and admitted poor judgement and misuse (note to self: do NOT cram ten pounds of shit into a five-pound bag), I managed to bust and hideously mutilate the main zipper on my favorite little Arcteryx dayback. Phoned the store, recounted my idiotic tale, asked if the factory did zipper replacements. Was told that if I could bring it in, they'd look at it and tell me if it was feasible. Upon inspecting the bag, the assistant manager insisted on sending it to the mother ship for a new zipper under warranty, even though I repeatedly told him that the rupture was my fault. Factoring in labor, bookkeeping, and the prepaid FedEx they returned it to me with, they lost a lot of money on my dinky hundred-dollar packsack. I own a half-dozen of their bags and garments. The designs aren't always perfect, but I'll keep buying their stuff when it mostly meets my needs, because their after-sales service is bricklike.

There were approximately 40 items, very comperable to the items in their store (and might I say even BETTER!). Several were vintage, some bought in Italy. I also brought in 2 bags of purses. Out of ALL these items, your "evaluator" (I say that lightly) deemed that NOTHING was worth purchasing. NOTHING! Except for 1 purse. I was stunned to say the least! When I got home just now and looked in the bag of clothing, most were not even looked at (at least 75%!!!!!!!) They were folded in the exact way as I had folded them. Totally untouched! Why??? Was I not befitting the "Type" of clientelle you wish to deal with? As THEY WRITE ON THEIR WEBSITE: "Through our exchange program, we're able to buy clothes from the creative and dynamic folks who come into our stores, and offer their items a second life." I guess I wasn't creative or dynamic enough!! I thought to give them my business as I wanted to support a very special local business like this instead of going mainstream ie Facebook Marketplace. I thought, oh how organic this place is, they are just the kind of business I wish to support. NO!, instead they deemed I wasn't good enough for them to even consider properly reviewing all my items and making a sound business decision. Shame on them! People, don't waste your time laundering, folding, itemizing, packing, schlepping your beautiful clothes, just to be not considered becuase your are not "creative and dynamic" enough.
