This has to be the most beautiful disc golf course I've ever been to. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Played Eagle and really wish we had more time to go back and play again. Good selection of water, Gatorade or if you prefer a beer for some swing oil. You cannot miss this epic course!! read more

Whenever I'm in town for shows I make a special trip to Sabattus Disc Golf for a few rounds. The courses are beautiful. The Owl is the perfect warm-up course and a great option to get kids and new players engaged in the sport. The Hawk has a nice mix of woods and big, open fairways. The Falcon is my personal favorite. It's tight and technical and perfect for a quick, challenging game. The Eagle takes that to a whole other level with longer holes, bigger fairways, and a few open holes for big hyzers. The pro shop is fully stocked with most of the plastic you throw. They have a large selection of carts, bags, baskets, apparel, and a variety of gear you need to enjoy a day on the course. The greens fees are very reasonable. You get what you pay for and at Sabattus, you're definitely getting your money's worth. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, open, and welcoming. If you are new to the sport and want to give it a try, talk to them. They will help you out, make suggestions, and will start you off the right way with the right gear. Because the equipment is so inexpensive overall, and people often start with more disc than they can handle, it's common to buy discs you don't need and can't throw correctly when you start off. The crew here will help to prevent that. Based on my experience and the conversations I've witnessed, they will set you on the right path and give you an indicator on when to buy the next speed disc. Overall, this is one of my favorite courses. It's really one of the gems of the New England disc golf scene. If you're local, give it a try. If you're from out of state, make the trip. read more

Thought I had been to the best disc golf courses in Maine until I tried Sabattus Disc Golf. Wow. This place is huge and very well maintained. They have 3 different courses to challenge all different skill levels. A good mix of forest play and open play. Eagle is pretty tough and will be a challenge. I find the iconic hole on this one to be the one with throwing into the large sand pit. Pretty good signage around this course. A few times you may wander on to the wrong tee box but just stay alert before you throw. A great clubhouse with plenty of new discs and gear to buy. Some of the nicest people I have met that work there as well. 7 dollars for one round, 10 dollars for the day. No glass bottles or dogs on the course, but can's are allowed. Please try to keep parties at 5 or less. This course is a must if you are a disc golfer. read more

DISCRIMINATED AGAINST AND DENIED ACCESS After looking around the pro shop, my fiance and I (I had my service dog with me, as I do whenever we go places) went to go pay for our rounds and the employee working told us the were no dogs allowed and they did not have an exception for service dogs. We tried to explain that since this place is open to the public as a recreational facility, federal law requires that service dogs be allowed. He then called for his manager (I believe he said his name was Sam? But I could be wrong) After waiting for a solid 5+ minutes the manager arrived and took my fiance and I outside of the pro shop, and walked us far away from other people and basically repeated what the other employee said. He also said if we had a problem with it we could bring it up with the local PD.f We tried to explain the federal laws again but then he told us that their insurance says no dogs on the property because of having a dog DIE in car on their property in the past. We again try to try him that federal law overrides his insurance rules because this isn't a pet dog, he is a medically necessary tool to help me live my best life. He then said no exceptions and basically asked us to leave. At this point we were both done arguing so we told him we would be filling a discrimination complaint with the department of justice and ensuring that everyone knew that they discriminate. We had to run inside to get my fiancé's disc bag and when we came back out the manager was on the phone with someone - he refused to say who - and then asked if Arie had "papers". I told him that registrations are not required under the ADA and those papers are a scam and he processed to tell me that yes they are and I needed them. He then got uncomfortably close while we were at my car, and he feels as though he was trying to intimidate me, because he was only looking at and talking to me at this point and not my fiance. He then pulled the classic " I wish I could have my dogs here with me too but I can't" line. Which is a FAVORITE of service dog handlers. I will admit, I got a little snippy and asked him if his dogs were trained to help save your life, because mine is. He just had a bit of a dumbfounded look on his face. We reiterated that we would be filling a complaint and got in the car to leave. I've had my service dog for 3.5 years now. I've had a lot of accessibility issues but they have all been quickly resolved by explaining that he's a service dog and explaining the ADA. This is the first time I have truly been DENIED access to a business that is open to the public. It was a horrible feeling. It made me feel small and less than human. All we wanted to do was support a local small business and enjoy the nice weather but instead were discriminated against and denied access. read more

The courses are still great however....they now sell overpriced beer so gone are the days of BYOB! Still a great place for kids I guess. I've always enjoyed bringing good local craft brews with me while I play....luckily there are MANY other courses in this area that will now be my go to place to play. read more

Best place in the state for disc golf. I have played at all of the courses in the area and always come back to SDG. Having moved out of Maine a few years ago I always try to make it to SDG when I am back home. The courses are generally well-maintained and the scenery is nothing short of amazing, especially during the fall season. Even during the hotter summer months it is nice. With about 80% of the grounds in the shade it is a great break from the heat. Couple that with a cooler of your favorite canned beverages and you're in for a real treat. The owner is very nice and personable. I can't say anything bad about this place. I have played each course over a dozen times each and have had a great experience each time. read more

I travel and play extensively and would rank Eagle at Sabattus as one of the all time greats - artful use of the gorgeous meadows and wooded terrain with open water and streams in play, (but not in a ridiculous way aka Maple Hill). The fairways are immaculate and well laid out with excellent signage - the lanes will challenge the best players but without the huck and pray typical of New England wooded courses. Only con is that a few holes are perhaps generously parred - good for the ego but easily overcome by a bit of score adjustment. Besides the pro-oriented Eagle Sabattus offers two other very playable 18 hole intermediate runs, a 9 hole beginner course and a nicely stocked pro shop. This is a destination course. read more

Although we have just started disc golf and haven't played many courses yet, Sabattus must be one of the best in the country. It is similar to a real golf course: well designed, manicured, etc. They have three 18 hole courses and a 9 hole par 3 course, we played all of them except the most challenging and found them all fun. Really worth the trip! read more

History
Established in 2005.
In May of 1931, John and Evelyn Katula purchased first of more than 2 dozen parcels of land that now make up the home of SDG. They both had a passion for the simple life, enjoying the hard work in building a true New England Maine farm. After building their home, they started on the farm, a building for six of Evelyn's horses and a two story barn for John's dairy cows. Several of the large fields were cleared by John and Evelyn. Both John and Evelyn were very well known within the community and respected by many. They had no children, but enjoyed many friends and extended family. Before John & Evelyn passed, the one request or wish they had for the attorney was, "don't let their farm be developed." And here SDG stands, to let the community enjoy this great piece of Maine.
