Awesome disc golf course. Extremely friendly folks, food, friends. Great way to spend an afternoon

I was browsing Facebook earlier and came across a post for the Richmond community, and it was about Acker's Acres. The facility is for disc golf, but don't be fooled- they serve the BEST smoked brisket in Maine- and I can say that because I'm from Texas, and have made it a point to visit nearly every "bbq" place in Maine. Seriously, the places in Portland don't come close to this- not even in cooking process. All together we had three brisket sandwiches and fries, and an order of chicken tenders and fries- all of the food went down quickly, and everyone loved it. What else can I say about Acres that has not already been said. Barb and Dave are the nicest course owners in the state of Maine. The layout is on a beautiful piece of land, approximately 60 acres. After thousands of dollars, and thousands of hours of hard physical work, they have created a disc golf course with an even prettier piece of land. The course encompasses about 20 acres of mostly mature forest with fairways blazed through. It is a beautiful walk through the woods and some open areas. Acker's Acres is not just a disc golf course, they have hosted many weddings, anniversaries, company parties etc. in the"recreational" field abutting the course. They provide picnic tables, bbq grills and other services in order for people to make a day of it if they wish. This is my favorite place to play a game I absolutely love. I'd give them 6 stars if possible. read more

Dave and Barbara are absolutely awesome..they even cooked us wings and a wonderful pasta salad on the fourth just because they are two of the nicest people you will ever come across. And oh yeah..a very excellent disc golf course. Well maintained and always something new and interesting popping up. This place has 2 courses, the green or the orange. The green is considered the easier course. The owners live across the street and take great pride in their course. The course is always extremely well maintained, trails marked and grass trimmed. They never have trash overflowing anywhere. The courses are very well marked, as to which order to go in and to be able to find the next hole start. There are suprisingly very few bugs there. They provide pencils and score cards and disc rentals are available. It is 5$ a round or 8$ for the day. This is moderately wooded course and mildly hilly course. The courses are 18 holes long and took us, as novices, about an hour and 1/2 to complete. The other players we entercountered were respectful, waiting their turn or allowing us to pass as necessary. There is a small club house with snacks and drinks available. I will definately be a regular here soon. read more
