5 out of 5 stars for Sababa, we were shopping in Munich & looking for something to eat. We went to a market nearby and came across Sababa. The portions were great and the prices were reasonable. The staff were very friendly. There were only a few tables and we were lucky enough to find a table. I would highly recommend Sababa

    Halloumi and falafel pita. Yummy!

This is a cute, compact takeaway spot in an open air market in Munich. While my husband was off finding something porky to eat, I was craving a portable sandwich to eat while walking around the city. Sababa had promising reviews so I checked it out. The restaurant was busy but the line went quickly. The staff was polite and put up with my utter lack of German skills. I got the halloumi and falafel combo pita. The falafel was a bit dense but the halloumi was nicely chewy. It's not something that's normally available at Middle Eastern places back home so I'm glad I got it. There was lots of pickles, turnips, hot sauce and all the other fixings that makes for a delicious and messy pita.

Got a sharwma platter and a veggie platter as we didn't quite know what we were ordering but it was all delicious. It had a bit of this and a bit of that and way too much food for only $11.90 Euro each platter. Comes with a side of pita bread. Your right at the viktualienmarkt.

One of the highlights of Munich is a visit to the Viktualienmarkt. This is Munich's largest and most famous outdoor market place. A highlight is to sit on one of the many picnic tables enjoying a large beer in the shade of the large trees. In addition to the many food stands there are restaurants located all around the market. If, however, you have gotten a bit tired of the heavy Bavarian meals, you can try a Greek/Middle Eastern lunch at a small restaurant at the back of the Viktualienmarket. It is a super bargain for excellent Greek food. For ~10Euros you can get a mixed plate of meats or vegetarian dishes. The shawarma sandwiches also a great selection. Seating is limited but the tables turn-over quite quickly. Overall, an excellent choice when you are visiting Munich.

Located in the back of Viktualienmarkt this is a fabulous Middle Eastern and Oriental cuisine shop. It's quite a small shop with a handful of tables under the canopy and a couple of tables outside. The menu is not very big but the choice of vegetarian plenty. Their specialty is felafel and I have to tell you it's amazing. Freshly made and tastes heavenly. I had the felafel salatteller which came with salad, pickled vegetables, baba ganoush, hummos, harissa (hot sauce), felafel and some fresh pita bread. The flavour was amazing sweet, salty, creamy, spicy and pungent all in one plate. The falafel was excellent and I loved the pickles vegetables. For under €8 it was a great value meal that tasted fabulous. I will definitely come here again and try other stuff on the menu. A great inexpensive lunch option in town :-)

    Awesome. Best falafel in town.

Really you just need to walk up to the counter and see the quality. Very clean place, wholesome food and the falafels are good, really good. They give you a fresh pita with home made humus and the falafels (Crispy outside, prefect center and not fatty tasting) then your own toppings bar, awesome!! So if you want the best falafel sandwich in town, head here. It's good. Really Good!

Yummy food, healthy portions and all for a fair price. I enjoyed the halloumi and falafel plate, it was a nice mix of hummus, salad, bright greens and a tangy surprise of pickled veggies.

I have never been a huge fan of falafels and schawarma but I liked Sababa! The quality is excellent and for the price, you'll be hard pressed to find something better around Vikulienmarkt. My cousin and I shared the turkey plate, added a falafel and had a drink for less than 15 bucks. It was a great deal. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful to those of us that don't speak German. They kindly laughed as I took pictures of my food and kept asking how I liked it. I don't know how people could pack so much food into the pita bread like pockets, but everything in the toppings bar was delicious.

As I had forgotten in most European cities it is customary to have reservations, and of course we did not. This did not dissuade us as the proprietor of the restaurant and bar promptly allowed us to sit at the bar and order food. Much to our surprise it was not as busy yet as most other places however with reservations they bank on filling chairs with locals that frequent the establishment. The Ambiance: A quaint little (meaning noe more than about 30 seats in the restaurant total) with mediterranean motif, and a rustic greek flavor with the furniture. Light music could be heard in the background and the smells were of herbs and roasted meat. Perfect. The Service: Asked right away if we would like beverages we quickly grabbed an Israeli beer and my wife grabbed a coke. The beer was good - standard lager from just about anywhere that tastes relatively the same, however the bottling was clearly distinct and right from somewhere in Isael. We were also served promptly (probably within 10-15min) for our food. I had decided to get some chicken and hummus and the wife decided (as usual) to get the Argentinian steak. The Food: The food was amazing. Although I love my chicken and hummus with pita and garlic sauce / tzaziki -- the Argentinian steak (that I got a small morsel of) was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and quite a bog portion by european standards for the price. Summary: Moderately priced overall and with the flavors and service the service of the Mediterranean this was just what we needed to fuel our next day adventuring in Munich and Oktoberfest. PROST!
