This was one of the most delicious falafel sandwiches that we have eaten. I had a falafel and halloumi wrap. My hubby had a spicy falafel wrap. They made the falafel after we ordered. So fresh, hot and yummy! The laffa wrap was filled with hummus, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, garlic spread, pickled turnips and more. Loved the pomegranates sprinkled throughout the wrap. Such a deal for 6.50 euros and 7.50 euros with halloumi. Added a side of hummus. I only ate half as the wraps are ginormous. Limited seating, but not busy on a Friday night. I would definitely stop here if you are looking for falafel in Munich. Such a delicious and quite filling meal.

In the end it seemed the walk was worth it. Although small, Tarboosh is fantastically clean and the shawerma was cooked to order (not rotating on some spit for goodness knows how long). When we arrived there were two employees; one spoke good English and the other had only a little. Both friendly! All the veggies and spreads looked fresh and each of the bar height tables had a small array of salt, pepper, ketchup, mayo, and hot sauce. I love being able to tinker with my own sandwich (read: moar hot sauce!) without having to beg the establishment for a revision or a "side of" whatever. We both had the shawerma #3, "Levante," with varying levels of spicy. For very spicy, ask for "sehr scharf!" If we'd had more German, we probably could have also requested specific combinations of veggies. Drinks were mostly limited to water and soft drinks -- no alcohol. Prices were reasonable (5-8 euros per sandwich, depending on toppings). Overall, this place was awesome and I would highly recommend.

As I had forgotten in most European cities it is customary to have reservations, and of course we did not. This did not dissuade us as the proprietor of the restaurant and bar promptly allowed us to sit at the bar and order food. Much to our surprise it was not as busy yet as most other places however with reservations they bank on filling chairs with locals that frequent the establishment. The Ambiance: A quaint little (meaning noe more than about 30 seats in the restaurant total) with mediterranean motif, and a rustic greek flavor with the furniture. Light music could be heard in the background and the smells were of herbs and roasted meat. Perfect. The Service: Asked right away if we would like beverages we quickly grabbed an Israeli beer and my wife grabbed a coke. The beer was good - standard lager from just about anywhere that tastes relatively the same, however the bottling was clearly distinct and right from somewhere in Isael. We were also served promptly (probably within 10-15min) for our food. I had decided to get some chicken and hummus and the wife decided (as usual) to get the Argentinian steak. The Food: The food was amazing. Although I love my chicken and hummus with pita and garlic sauce / tzaziki -- the Argentinian steak (that I got a small morsel of) was excellent. Tender, flavorful, and quite a bog portion by european standards for the price. Summary: Moderately priced overall and with the flavors and service the service of the Mediterranean this was just what we needed to fuel our next day adventuring in Munich and Oktoberfest. PROST!

The menu is small but there is no way you could easily get tired of it. We had the hummus falafel platter as a shared starter on both our visits. The fresh sprouts on top give it that amazing crunchy and fibrous texture. You have to try it. My only wish is for it to come with more than the two pieces of bread. For mains, I tried the watermelon steak, and wow, I had had nothing like it before. It was thick, juicy, and red! The accompanying sauces and spices were amazing. Why do people even eat real animals anymore?! The drink selection is sparse, but I enjoyed the hot ginger drink. They do have nice wines and beers. Water seems to be a paid option. He desserts are the signature menu item. I was told that the cheesecake is made fresh every day, although the flavors are kept a surprise. I was lucky to meet the inspiring founders of Cafe Gratitude in August at a raw food workshop and from what I know, they planned to come back soon, it's a workshop worth attending for all those interested in joining the Cafe Gratitude community. Back in August, Cafe Gratitude Munich was just in plan, now it's a very nice reality and it's one of the places where I could stay all day long, it's part of my favourite cosy homey places in Munich.
