From the moment you walk in, Maura and Kathy in the office greet you with a warm, friendly smile and are incredibly helpful, especially if you're new to commercial recycling. I'll make this short and not so sweet. The current price for scrap lead is 50 cents a pound. Sa pays 5 CENTS!! Last time I took my batteries to a recycler, (not SA), I was paid 38 cents a pound. Hell, in Mexico I'm getting nearly 30 cents a pound. What is going on at SA that they can get away with such a low payout? Needless to say, I will never take my lead to them, ever again. read more

Robbed. I brought in 303lbs of copper and got paid out as if I brought in 203lbs. Not at all afraid to rob you of a $1000. They should be thrown in jail for doing this. It has happened before to me at the San Bernardino location. Do yourself a favor if recycling here, video the transaction! Weigh and document your material before you get there. I came here just to drop off some large appliances that I wanted recycled rather than thrown away. To my surprise, they pay you! They weigh your car before and then after and give you cash! Crazy! I didn't even know places like this existed. Ok, so I only got $3 but still, it's $3 I didn't have before! Totally come and drop off your large appliances and scrap metal here. I went there for the first time today and the staff was great! I had to drop off some metal I was trying to get rid of, when I arrived I accidentally went to a different area of the facility where they receive aluminum recyclables. The attendant that was there kindly informed me that ferrous metals were received in a different area. When I got to the area where they receive metal the ladies at the weighing window were very kind as well, and didn't seemed annoyed at all that it was my first time there. I have been an SA customer for over 5 years. Over the years I have learned all the different metals and how to grade my metal accordingly. On May 6, I made the mistake of thinking all SA locations are one organized company, they are not. Compared to the SA on frontera st In Anaheim that pay twice as much and know how to properly grade, I was scammed at this location. My metal containing galvanized steel, motor, steel pipes was graded as Tin, the lowest possible grade since it was claimed a piece of cardboard box and piece of plastic fell off while unloading, I had a job I was late and did not have time nor the energy to argue to argue, I will have all my employees avoid this location and I urge anyone reading this to take the extra 15 min drive to Anaheim right off the 91/55 for twice the Pay and expertise. read more

Was just able to get a bunch of (what I thought was trash) treasure out of my backyard. I brought an old mini fridge, various steel and aluminum pieces and some electronics. The process to get them recycled was pretty quick and a clean environment considering its a scrap yard. My biggest surprise was that the guys who helped me actually helped me and advised which material was worth more than others. Beware of scamming cashiers! I had a junky car to get rid of and after three calls, SA gave me the best quote; $400, good for a week. I drove the car there, and the guy at the gate pulled up my quote and wrote down $400, stapled it to 3 papers, and then a worker drove me to the cashier's office. I handed the papers to someone at the first window who told me I would get paid at then next window. After a couple of minutes, the woman at the second window hands me $355.75. I told her it should be $400 and she says "where does it say that?" I told her it was written on the paper I gave to the first window. She comes back with only one of the three pieces of paper, and there is no amount on it. I then show her the email quote for $400, good which was only 3 days old. She replies that they will have to do a "re-adjustment" and that will take a 1/2 hour! I said I'm in a hurry (I had been there for almost hour already), and I could take a check if it was difficult to give me cash. "Nope, you have to wait 1/2 hour for the re-adjustment if you want the rest". I'm guessing they tried to rip me off $44.25 because that amount is small enough that most people won't waste 1/2 hour waiting for it, where as they probably would for $50. read more

So apparently there is another SA Recycling around this area that's not as organized as this one, so be cautious. This one could get crowded, so depends on your luck in line & how fast they are in front of you. You pretty much have to wait your turn. It's pretty straight forward here. 1. Drive your truck in line. 2. Weigh your truck. 3. Check in & get your hard hat. 4. Dump (Out of all the times, there was always a worker there willing to help, it can get tiring for a little person like me) 5. Weigh your truck again 6. Turn in your hard hat & redeem your cash. Rates are not "mind blowing" here - normal rates I've heard, but I guess they have no control of that. Lol. Satisfied so far with my experiences here. read more

The organization and customer service here was far better than any of the other places like it that I have been. When we drove in it was obvious that we did not know what to do first, the yard supervisor noticed our confusion right away and pointed us in the right direction, we did not need to ask or stand around with stupid looks on our faces in order to get the help we needed. When I got to the window the girl there gave me a quick and efficient run down of the process once she knew that it was my first time there. It wasn't like it was an inconvenience or afterthought giving me the info I needed. I am not sure how their rates compare to other places, but I was surprised at the amount of CASH that I got for my auto body panels. I really appreciate customer service and organization at businesses like this, so I will definitely be making this my default scrap yard. read more

I was so happy with the outcome and experience with this company. I was referred by my neighbor Nancy. So my husband and I had a few pieces of clean metal in my back yard and I was calling around to see who took scrap metal. (The yard in Anaheim never answered) So I came across SA Recycling in Santa Ana and so I called. Best decision. From the moment a lady Kathy picked up the phone I was astonished. Their customer service is amazing. The Cashier I wanna say her name is Maura (as it is in the receipt) was also very very nice.
