I visited Lopez Recycling with a small load of recyclables last Monday Oct, 2nd 2018, Just to test…read morethem out, for future business. If you don't want to read the whole thing... My recommendation.... Go Somewhere Else. I had 50+ LBs of Clean brass, 30-50 LBs of Clean Shiny Aluminum scrap, 50+ LBs of Copper Wire (insulation on), and 13+ LBs of used Copper plumbing. A scrap aluminum wheel, and a bag of aluminum cans about 12LBs. They took all of the scrap that I dropped off and threw it into their bulk bins before quoting me a price, so I couldn't even decide not to sell it to them. Oh, and they quoted me a price with all of my drop offs on it, but didn't pay for any of the aluminum until I looked closely at the receipt and questioned them, then they printed a slip with all of the payments on it, and said, oops...I missed those.... Would have shorted me about $25. These people will pay as little as possible, and you have to be very careful about watching that they paid you for everything. Again, if you can find someone that you trust... go there. They paid me less than $120 for all of it. Should have been closer to $300. They classified all of the clean and sorted brass as "Mixed Dirty", and all of the clean and sorted aluminum as "Mixed dirty". Current value on the brass was aprox. $3 per LB, they paid .95 cents, the aluminum should have been .25 to .50 per LB, they paid .08 cents, the copper wire with insulation had a bundle of single strand with almost no insulation that weighed over 8LBs. They gave .12 per LB for it all. The single strand should have been at least $1 per LB. So, overall I would recommend going somewhere else. The only thing they paid a fair price for was the raw copper plumbing, and they made up for it by paying 10%-20% of the value on the rest of it.
