We enjoy what they have to offer. Many of the items are found no where else in Calgary. It is pricey, but that is to be expected given that it is a boutique butcher / supermarket. The owner, while knowledgeable, is rude. I have been laughed at while asking seemingly innocent questions like "Does this item come in a bigger package" and my wife has been out and out ignored and ridiculed. I think if the owner was not such a rude woman, this would be a five star business. Too bad, because it really is great to be able to buy authentic South African meats and products in Calgary. read more

I love this place always good always accommodating. They make the best turkduckchicken in town. Very knowledgable butchers always gets it done you want something special this is the place to go and it will be done right. In looking at other reviews they do talk about this place being high priced I agree they're not the cheapest place in town but they provide excellent value. My most recent example I wanted lamb sausage for New Year's impossible to find SA butcher's attitude was first let me check with my supplier and see if I can get the necessary lamb and if I can't I will break down some lamb shoulders I have it in stock and make sure you get the sausage you need spiced the way you want it. They are even custom making the size how could anything be better than this fantastic service. read more

Who knew? A butcher shop and deli that specializes in traditional South African eats and treats! They do buffalo, lamb, bizon, fish and then a huge selection of dried meats too. I wonder if the SA stands for South African... that seems like a rather obvious observation... They also have a great selection of sauces, candies and soda pops that are popular in South African. Very friendly, happy to explain what's what - it's a very refreshing little place! It only gets four stars because it also carries cold cream and baby wipes - those are the only two products that don't seem to be South African meat and treat related. read more

I came for the boerewors but I stayed for everything else! While looking for a good butcher I found this wonderful little shop. There isn't much plain meat to use for your own recipes but the prepared meats are perfect. The chicken flatties (spicy peri peri or lemon and herb) are great and the sausage and pork krokodil are some of my new favorite foods. I did have one cut of seasoned pork that wasn't to my liking (trimming the fat took off most of the seasoning and the inside was a bit plain) but if you're used to eating a lot of pork you may enjoy it. Prices for the meats are fairly good. They're a little more expensive than just buying plain meat but considering that all you need to do is cook them to get an amazing meal that's a good deal. I have no idea what most of the other assorted treats and desserts are but I'm working my way through them to find out. read more

This store specializes in typical traditional South African meats as well as canned and bottled produce. Every time I have been to buy chocolate, chutney, jam the best before date has long since passed. The owners opinion is that since these expired items are on sale it is up to the customer "to take it or leave it"..... !!!!! The traditional South African meat products like boerewors and biltong/jerky is good although it makes me pause and think about about going back since almost everything in the store has expired. Due to the owners poor attitude towards customers not sure I can continue to support this store. read more
