The two recent standouts in my memory are traditional Chinese fermenting jars for under $20, and a bottle of rose cooking wine which I haven't been able to source anywhere else.

We usually head over to Mitsuwa in Edgewater whenever we want to buy specialty Japanese food goods, but figured we'd check out Sunrise Mart since we were visiting Japan Village. My husband found some vegan miso soup packets and bought a bunch of those to try. Because it was a hot summer day, we didn't get produce or anything frozen, but were happy to see they offer a good selection of both. While he was getting real food and pantry items, I perused the snack aisles and beer cases haha. While it's small in square footage, it makes the best out of the space so there's a wide variety of grocery products. I can't speak to the fish or butcher areas because we're a vegetarian household (he's vegetarian and I don't cook non-veg because of cross contamination concerns), but I thought that these sections looked good to me.

The lady behind the counter was super nice, and who I assume is the owner was very diligent about refilling the onigiri rack. It seems like a lot of students come here for the onigiri, which are very affordable and have great portions compared to other spots, especially at three dollars each. They also have breakfast deals where you can get two onigiri and a coffee for around $7.50, or three onigiri and a roll for $9.50. You really cannot beat that. They also have steamed buns at the counter and a variety of other Asian products like frozen foods, snacks, Pokémon merch, ice cream, and more. It is basically a small, quaint corner Asian market with a little bit of everything. You can also get inari sushi, which is four pieces for around six to seven dollars. That is one of my favorites and usually priced much higher at other places.

Inside, it has aisle upon aisles of Asian-focused products. The prices are on par with those of other fruit and veggie stands. They do have the occasional sale but it's usually food close to or expired recently. The staff can be hit and miss. They do have a lot of cashiers. They have a minimum of $10. If you are not Asian though, some of the other patrons and cashiers do look and treat you unkindly. I had asked someone a question and she said I do not work here. I literally had asked if this was an expiration date as it wasn't in English. I would have helped someone if they are trying to read something. It's called common courtesy. Other times, I would be standing in the corner, and I would literally get pushed out of the way, when there is space behind me. I try to take up as little space as possible but yet they feel that I am not entitled to be there. I would say all the other stores on the block and area doesn't have this much of an issue (except the restaurants and I avoid those like the plague).
