I'm extremely angry, disappointed, and heartbroken over my experience with Anna's Alterations. I…read moredropped off my wedding dress on April 22 with two different promised completion date that came and went -- it wasn't ready until June 26, more than two months later. One of the most frustrating parts is that I specifically asked to have the scraps from my dress returned because I wanted to have a shirt made. I followed up with a message on Facebook asking about them -- not only did she ignore me, she blocked me. When I went back to the shop to ask in person, she claimed "you have to tell me when you drop it off." I did tell her, and she still threw them away. I picked up the dress on June 27, and after paying $325, it still doesn't fit correctly. The top is loose in the bust and falls off my shoulders. When I pointed it out, she brushed it off and said, "It's fine, just use some double-sided tape." This was my wedding dress, and I trusted her with something incredibly important and personal. Instead, I was left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and out a lot of money. I would never recommend Anna's Alterations -- especially not to any bride.

I brought my daughter's wedding dress to Hannah's Alterations for alterations and paid $425. When…read morewe went to pick it up, the sleeves had not been cut and hemmed to fit. Instead, they were rolled up unevenly into thick, puffy wads and sewn in place, all of them crooked. The hem at the bottom was not cut even all the way around. The front and back were longer than the sides, so the length was uneven all the way around and my daughter was stepping on the front of her dress and nearly falling every time she walked forward. When I pointed out that the sleeves and the fit were wrong, Hannah asked if I wanted her to actually cut and fix them. I left the dress with her that day and told her I wanted it fixed. A week later she called and said it was ready. When we went back, the sleeves were still rolled up, just with less fabric rolled, and they were still uneven and crooked. The hem was still not fixed. That is when Hannah grabbed my daughter's hand, told her "it's not the dress, you're just walking funny," hummed the wedding song, and tried to teach her how to walk down the aisle. The top of the dress was still too big, and instead of fixing it, Hannah told my daughter she would need to use fabric tape to tape the dress to her body. We took the dress to another alteration professional for a second opinion. She was in disbelief at the condition of the dress. She had to completely undo all of Hannah's work before she could properly alter it, which meant paying for the same service twice. Once the dress was correctly altered, my daughter needed zero fabric tape, it fit her perfectly, and she could walk in it with no issue. I am leaving this review so other brides and mothers know what to expect. I wish someone had warned me.

I took a completely sequined dress to Sarah to be altered for a wedding. The dress was very long…read moreand large at the top, and I was worried that sequins/beading would fall apart the more altering she did. It took her about a week to complete and it was PERFECT when I got it back. The bride went with me to pick it up after alterations, and she said it was the best looking bridesmaid dress out of the group (other bridesmaids had taken their dresses elsewhere for alterations). Another bridesmaid took her dress elsewhere and the seamstress butchered the dress-- breast pads put in the wrong place, too much length taken off the bottom, and it was cut crooked. I suggested she take the butchered dress to Sarah. Sarah worked her magic and fixed that dress. The placement of the inserts were corrected. She fixed the uneven length on the dress, although my friend had to wear flats to the wedding because of how much length the original seamstress cut off. Overall, the bridesmaid and the bride were both happy with Sarah's corrective work. If I lived in the area, I would religiously use Sarah for all of my alteration needs!

Nadia and her assistant seamstress knew exactly what to do. They took in the sides above the waist, sewed the V-neck closed in a flattering and modest way, tightened the elastic in the sleeves making them drape nicer, and cleverly added stiff netting inside the sleeves at the shoulder to make them pouf better. The dress fit perfectly and accentuated my figure. My husband and I were very pleased with the alterations. Nadia was very pleasant and professional. She will be our go-to tailor/seamstress from now on!

I've had two bad experiences here. (And two ruined garments!)…read more The first time I dropped off a winter coat to be taken in. They took measurements and told me to come back in a week. I came back and they told me the price was $80 to hem the sleeves and take in extra material on the side. I was floored. I hadn't asked how much it would be so that was my fault, but I thought they would have quoted me a price especially once it got to be so expensive. It was more than the coat had cost me to begin with! Anyway I paid it since it was my fault for not asking. The sleeves were too short and they took it in too far because less than a week later my brand new coat split open down the back! A year later I decided to give them a try again. I brought in an even more expensive winter jacket for something super basic: refastening some brass buttons that had fallen off and reinforcing the remaining buttons. I would have normally done this repair myself but the coat material was thick and hard to poke a needle through. When I asked the owner if, in her experience, I should expect to bring this type of peacoat in to have the buttons refastened each season, she replied, "I don't know, I don't wear stuff like this." I thought that was a rude answer and it felt like an obvious dig at my personal style. Well it cost $35 to have those 3 buttons reattached and the remaining 3 reinforced. Oh, and she sewed one button completely through the pocket so now my pocket is half sewn shut. I am not kidding! This place is a joke and they are insanely overpriced. Go to Raleigh for your alterations if you need them.
