It is located in La Roche Posay and is owned by La Roche Posay which is owned by Loreal. The staff is very friendly and for the most part speak very limited english except one Male waiter. You can get by very well though using google translate to translate the menu. The food here is obviously french. It is extremely consistent. Appetizers here are called entrees. Our favorite appetizers were the mesculin salad and the tomato gaspacho. The mesculin salad was very delicious. There was a mix of greens topped with cheese, fried prosciutto, shrimp, and asparagus. The dressing was served on the side and I believe was a vinegerrette mixed with light oil. The tomato gazpacho soup was also very good if you like gazpacho. Whenever I eat gazpacho, I always think the soup would be much better served hot. Alas, that is not an option, but the soup was tasty anyway. It is served with scallops which were perfectly cooked. My favorite entree which are called platters was the Margaret de canard (duck). This duck was again perfectly cooked. I thought there was a mistake at first because it tasted like lamb or steak. This was cooked on top of potatoes, sweet potatoes, and a carrot. It was served with a brown sauce. This was by far the best duck I have ever eaten. I had this dish multiple times and every time it tasted the exact same. We did have other items on the menu, but this is by far my favorited. The fish to me lacked flavor in my opinion. If you happen to be in this town, this is the restaurant to eat at if you want to taste, French fine cuisine.

Fries looked like they were cut in half, then in half, then again. Really why serve a bunch of broken potato pieces. The waiter praised the house wine, and pushed it hard but honestly it was not very good. Maybe "buvable'. A bit sour, no complexity. But heck it pairs with the steak. The dining experience was so lovely under twinkly lights and open air. I came here another night when it was an open air dance party with a DJ. So much fun!! The beers were served in pitchers with different flavorings like lemon and orange. I was skeptical as I'm not a big sweet alcohol fan - but it refreshing and light. There is a large beer garden style area with umbrella covered tables and chairs for chatting and relaxing. The service at the restaurant wasn't the most pleasant, but the bar staff was very nice. The atmosphere and the view are certainly worth checking out. Happy to be introduced by our local friend to such a wonderful gathering place.

We thought sure perhaps we'll check it out. We then end up renting bicycles and cycling along the river and we stumbled upon the guingette. It looked so lovely that we decided to come back a little later. We're so happy that we did because we had a magical evening. It was such a lovely experience even to just sit and watch the couples pair off and dance. I wished I knew enough French to join in on the lessons! But even just sitting there and drinking wine and enjoying each other's company we had a great time and it was one of the most memorable experiences of that trip. We even discovered a new song/artist that now when we listen to, reminds us of that evening.

Marie, the proprietress/server, was more than accommodating & made us feel at home. Easily our best meals of our 3 week vacation & one of the most reasonably priced.
