Solid cold cut sandwiches at this place. Just wish food was more affordable with inflation.

Today I visited this restaurant for the second time. The first time I ordered a club sandwich and was quite disappointed with the lack of flavor but also the bread. I decided to try this place again today bc I was craving a Philly cheesesteak and this was the only place I could get it from that my scooter would get to. When I arrived I asked the guy which is better...meatball or Philly? He said the meatball sub was more popular but also said "I have to precook the onions and green peppers everyday. I didn't respond immediately bc I was trying to sort out which sub to get now that I know I can't have a fresh Philly. Ended up with a meatball sub and I ate it all mainly bc I was super hungry. Yet I was disappointed in my second purchase. It looks like a lot of items are precooked and then needs to be put into the microwave I ended up disassembling my sandwich, removed A LOT of soggy bread (the juice from the meatballs had caused soggy bread in the amount of time that I paid and was handed my sandwich to sit down at a booth and eat). That's less than 3 minutes. I had to add a napkin to my food in order to soak up the watery mess. Idk maybe I expect too much...but I don't believe I will return. I went for a second time after reading all the positive reviews again. But I was still disappointed. In my opinion, a hot sub should come with a toasted hoagie. Instead I was given a half soggy/watery mess of a meatball sub. BUT both times I've been given great service and welcomed/thanked for stopping by. read more

The sandwiches are much much better than say, Jimmy John's or Subway. As far as the service is concerned, it's just basically a counter. They do have a few tables and chairs where you can sit down and eat your sandwich. The ambience is what you expect of a sandwich shop. Order the Dagwood you won't be disappointed. read more

A little dated appearance. This restaurant has been around over 25 years. They're definitely doing something right! Even though Jimmy John's is my favorite sub place this is a close second. Fresh produce and tummy soups, just wish the bread was freshly made and not bought at Sam's. read more

Unsure if their reviews are fake or not but after walking in I should have just walked out. This place was warm and musty inside. No A.C at all smelly. I've never had stale bread here, and unlike that other popular sandwich chain, SS Subs does not use Azodicarbonamide (ADA), also known as the "yoga mat chemical", is an ingredient used in that other bread as a dough conditioner and bleaching agent. We love SS Subs. I've been going there since I was a kid and the cool thing about it is the flavor and quality hasn't changed in 30 years. You never get bread that is hard like a cracker. You don't get food that tastes like it was made a week ago. It's always fresh, always good and it always tastes just how it should. Cute little hideaway that's been here forever! I've been coming to this S. S. Subs location since I was in high school back in the 1990s and their quality has never changed. They are family owned and operated with delivery to the surrounding area. Best Subs in Colorado Springs/Fountain area! I had a craving and found this place (I didn't want a chain sub place). Their sandwiches were amazing and the ingredients were off the chart. Specifically, the bread was sooo soft and wonderful! The food came out really fast and a great selection of chips. I got an 8" turkey, bacon, and Swiss sammy and I couldn't finish it.
