Inexpensive? Nope. Really nice staff with great and caring customer service? Yes, definitely…read more I bought a gorgeous and pricy pair of glasses here a couple of years ago and they've taken care of me ever since. £25 for my eye exam, £90 for my lenses (my vision is quite poor).... not gonna tell you how much I spent on my frames... but all taken care of promptly and with a smile. They even helped me no problem when I wanted to order my contacts in the US (they had to send my prescription) rather than through them because it was cheaper. When I broke said expensive frames (that colour was sadly discontinued), they offered to order two pairs of the same frames in different colours so I could try them out. Sure, you can get inexpensive glasses elsewhere, but this is a small, privately owned optometrist that will really take care of your vision... stylishly!

Recently I've upgraded to some new Japanese made lenses which are remarkably crisp and better for reading than my previous lenses. The test equipment is very modern and you can now look at your retina on the Apple display if so inclined. I don't change my glasses very often, but I take the tube here whenever I do or for a routine eye test. Islington is a nice part of town so pop down and have a coffee near the canal next time you visit.

This is genuinely one of the best opticians in london if you have a complex prescription and like a…read morebit of style. The place is reasonably priced but is certainly on the premium end. That said, you will look good and be able to see yourself in the mirror after. Firstly Jonathan, the owner is, to say the least, eccentric. You will hear his life story with a wonderful smile and at the end he will recommend frames for you that are just perfect. He seems to have a total handle on style and knows whats in and out. You cannot go wrong with him. The experience with the testing was also wonderful. The optician (whose name I've sadly forgotten) spent over an hour testing my eyes and noted a decade long error in my prescription all while my partner was engaged in a (very long) conversation with Jonathan. I ended up buying two pairs of glasses with high index lenses for around £1000 and three month's supply of 'toric' contact lenses. I been using them ever since and people have (for the first time ever) noticed how good they looked! This place has my full and hearty recommendation!

We believe he is the owner and an optician at the shop. Jonathan looked at my husband for a moment and he instantaneously presented him with choices of glasses that best suits him. Jonathan was like a magician getting out surprises from his magic box. He is also very knowledgeable about new trend for eye wear and what look you want to project. He was really helpful and attentive to all our questions and concerns. However If you are the type of person who wants to be just left alone while shopping around for glasses, then you might find him abrassive. As for our experience, it was lovely and we definitely recommend him.

Ah, these guys are great!…read more I'm new to glasses at 27. After feeling a bit strained looking at my computer all day, I got in touch and sorted out an eye test. It was all straightforward to organise over email. Then when I came in, I was really pleased with the experience. The optometrist was really lovely and friendly and I felt relaxed during the eye exam, then afterwards the optician was very helpful as I was picking out frames. I was pretty pleased that the frames I liked best were 50% off - bargain! Or at least I think it was...I have no idea what a good price for glasses is. I did also get a work discount (on top of work subsidising the eye test and glasses), so if you work in the area you might as well ask. It felt like a quality place and I was pleased I went there rather than somewhere that's more of a chain.

The Anglo-American frames are especially nice and I will definitely get those for my next pair! I really appreciate that the chap working there took the time to explain how different frames are made and what value one gets depending upon the price-point. Highly recommended!
