That is no a shabby cost per person in my opinion. I was able to put together a menu that would be perfect for my guests as the main course would be chicken skewers. I went for a tasting with my daughter and my Mother to ensure this was the company for us. At the tasting the chicken was dry and I made a point to say that the chicken needed to be moist and juicy. They offered a yogurt sauce for dipping onto the menu. I also ordered Spanokopita for an appetizer only for them to be warm on the outside and cold in the center when they were served. Once the appetizers were being served, guests mentioned them cold. They "tried" to fix them without luck. I paid for warm appetizers. The main buffet was Hummus, Pita, Fruit platter, Caesar salad and Tortellini salad. The only protein I had was the chicken as I was told it would be delicious and plenty of food. NOT.... Chicken was BONE dry and then the gal brought out a pitcher of water to pour over the chicken while on the buffet table. Omg! Yes, A pitcher of water was being poured in the chafing dishes and over the cooked chicken while guests were standing right there. My guests were starving as many left early to go eat and if I saw water being poured onto poultry, I would not be eating it either. After the event I sent an email asking for compensation for this awful experience. I sent three emails actually awaiting word... I was not given what I ordered and I was told that I would be only refunded back the COST of only the chicken at $3.00 per person. Are you kidding me? I was also told I should have ordered more food at $3.00 per person I should have to had more meat and than I would not have had any issue. I can't believe that after they admit their fault I am being told my budget was low. Seriously? Why did I have to order more food when what I ordered would have been plenty if done correctly. They cooked the chicken not me. The event that I was planning for over a year was ruined by this caterer not doing a great at all. I actually never did meet the caterer in person as I was dealing with a gal in charge of setting up the parties. I was told by her and reassured that everything would be amazing and tasty. We could not swallow the chicken without choking. Horrible. I now have to deal with this company as I spent over four thousand dollars for my party and they think $270.00 is compensation for disgraceful food for a party of 90 people. I would NOT go to this caterer if you paid me money. As a fourth generation Portlander, go find another caterer, any caterer on Yelp, as this has been a nightmare.

The food is incredible, our guests had nothing but wonderful things to say! The rest of his crew is incredibly helpful, they helped our family and friends do anything that they needed to help set up for the wedding! We had a great experience with Eric and the crew and would highly recommend to anyone!

Granted the menus were very different, one thing I can say for sure is that they food was consistently good and wonderfully prepared. Without a nearby kitchen to tend to and the wedding being completely outdoors, they still managed to hand out some delicious hors d'oeuvres' in the form of herbed cream cheese filled cucumber hearts and mini smoked salmon toast bites. During the entree portion, the memorable meal was their baked Pacific NW salmon with pesto and roasted potatoes, which was tasty all around. At a totally different, but in-town wedding I heard their name pop up again as the wedding MC thanked them openly and my pork tenderloin dreams were made possible and complemented by a delicious apple chutney. There was an Oregon wild mushroom rice pilaf that I had a few bites of and if it wasn't from someone else's plate, I would probably damn near finished the whole thing. What I appreciate about catering companies like Eat Your Heart Out is that they are a local caterer that utilizes local ingredients. A great taste of the Northwest with some dabbles of international fare goes a long way, but their simple meals and outstanding service make for a memorable experience every time.

From the first thorough meeting to discuss likes, dislikes, wishes, menu, guest count, budget, etc it was clear they are experienced and organized. It was clear we would ultimately choose Voila. From the day we hired them until our wedding day Voila worked closely with us to really give us the wedding of our dreams. Every staff member was exceptional and professional in their roles. They handled everything we needed them to. Not just the food but rental coordination, staff, set up, staging, clean up, take down, left overs (there wasn't much), pickup, etc. We wanted a family style dinner set up on banquet tables and they made it happen. We were able to customize our look with table size, style, chairs, colors, linens, napkins, glassware and more. Voila takes pride in their business and product and it shows. With many years of experience they are able to guide you through the process and are readily available. Every question we had was quickly answered whether it by email, phone call or text. The food was exceptional! Cooked onsite at our venue, it came hot out of the ovens and to our tables. It was absolutely delicious. We continue to get compliments on our food and it's been weeks since our wedding. I'm still dreaming of our food. Voila worked seamlessly with all of our vendors and everything came together in a vision of perfection, it was just how I pictured it. No question - after trying the food it was Voila' all the way! I've seen negative reviews on this site. Is Jonathan opinionated? Yes, but there is good reason for that. They take their food seriously, and they have been doing this for a long time, so they know what works. Now they are also doing event rentals, and I found it to be cost-effective as well as more efficient to also order the linens and such from them that our venue did not provide. I really appreciated his input and did not find his manner off-putting. In fact, he even agreed to meet with me again when I was questioning my choices on the menu! Of course, in my field I am accustomed to strong personalities, and I don't take offense at someone who is passionate about what they do. Everything they did at the reception was STELLAR. Everything they served was scrumptious, and their excellent serving staff made sure that everything was smooth and trouble-free. Delivery/clean-up was flawless. Since they make everything to order, they do not do buffets, so if that is what you are looking for, this isn't the place for you.
