My kids have been attending Inspire for 6 years. Today, that ended. My son is now 10 and my…read moreyoungest daughter is now 6. The experience was great, I have never had an issue. I actually love the school, the concept in the teacher. However, my son had began to show behaviors and was diagnosed with ODD. This lead to him being put on a behavioral plan with Inspire because the behavior's are only at daycare as he is school aged. One, I had several meetings with Amber, the principal of the Inspire in Miamisburg, and with Jenny. We had to construct and reconstruct this behavioral plan to fit everything in and to make sure we came up with interventions that would give my son the best possible outcomes. I never received the updated behavioral plan, as I did decline to sign the first one as so much was missing on it. They did not contact the therapist to gain insight on ways my son could be successful as they specifically asked me for his recommendations. Today, I got a call from Megan who says that my son said that he wanted to run away and that he wants to drive a car to get away and because he said this and tried to get other kids to agree with him, he made a direct threat to harm and he cannot come back. Now, I am a little blown back I am like huh? I asked her in what context was this said in and who heard it. She further says that a little girl reported it and that the secretary pulled him to the side and asked him why he would want to run away when he has a house with a bed with heat, etc (all the essentials). So, as my son entered the daycare. I was there to meet him and asked him to step into the office with both Megan and I. We proceeded to ask him what happened today and how he was feeling. He explained that he asked the kids does life get hard for them that they feel like they just want to run away? He said that they all agreed. He said he then proceeded to say that sometimes he wish that he can get a car and just drive away. He asked one kid, then another kid asked another and so forth. I explained how that being a direct threat was a stretch, that at 10 hes allowed to want to get away and have feelings and express. Then she proceeds to say that he is causing the teachers to feel like they are not successful as they are not trained to deal with any of his behaviors and that she feels like he is mature and needs to be around other children who are a little older. However, the cut off age there is 12, he is 10. I took it on the chin, no biggie I have never met this lady in my life. My son sees a therapist, he sees a psychologist, he is on medication and I have done EVERYTHING that have asked me to, without missing a beat. They didnt follow up with their own behavior plan and discrimination against my child because of his disability is what this falls into. I asked for the grievance procedures and she said there is none. So I guess Ill keep posting on every review site that I can and get the proper advocates involved.
