I had some dental work preformed with Dr. Ghannam which my insurance didn't cover the cost which I was forced to pay out of pocket. In my opinion it was quite expensive. However the unit purchased was causing quit some pain and I needed it to be adjusted. When I returned to find it would be a charge for an adjustment which should take no longer than 5 min. receptionist was rude and didn't explain details. I told her I was not satisfied and would find another dentist and her reply was "Sorry you feel that way". As my dentist for years I feel Dr. Ghannam's office doesn't value me as a patient. The best dentist I've had he has treated my family for years and even now as I'm an adult I will still drive all the way out to see him. If he can't fix it or you need a different type of surgery he will always give you the best referral. read more

I was able to see Dr Ghannam and fix what was wrong. I was in and out quickly too. So happy im not in pain anymore.

First visit today for my Down's Syndrome adult son. Receptionist staff was friendly as well as the dental hygienist. My problem I is with the Dentist, Dr Ghannam which has absolutely NO bed side manner. He never say hello, didn't introduce himself or care to acknowledge of existence. He was verbally aggressive with my son, ( RUDELY telling him to keep his mouth open). I paused, then asked him to be patient with him due to his disability- my request seemed to fall on death ears. My Dad has used Dr. Ghannam as his dentist for two years, whenever he is in the Bay area. Says he is a very professional, knowledgeable, friendly Dentist with fair and reasonable fees. I took my 16 year old son there yesterday and let's just say to make this short and honest if you're looking for a KIND and FRIENDLY and GENTLE dentist don't go make your appointment here. The dentist never introduced himself like most doctors and dentist do when they enter the room he just said open your mouth. He made my son feel so bad by asking if he brushed everyday and continued on to say " It doesn't look like it".His assistants seem to be nice. I brought my 7 year old son to see Dr. Ghannam after he became 'too old' for our insurance to cover him under a pediatric dentist. They wanted me to wait in their lobby while he went back with their staff. Though I can't speak on Dr. Ghannam's dentistry, I will say that safe parenting takes priority. We do not allow our children behind closed doors with strangers. Since our 'policies' were incompatible, we respectfully declined service. This practice may be great for adults, but not 'family friendly'. read more

$45 for a 3 minute exam. I expected something more thorough. Besides, this was a consultation to determine whether I would bring my business here or not. I guess some people have to charge for everything they do, even if it is just taking a look and providing a quote. About the quote: $1200-1500 over the phone. That got my interest. $1500 directly after the exam. $1650 when it finally made it to paper. Sorry, but that was not the experience I was after. It was certainly a waste of money, and maybe this review will prompt a reconsideration of office policies for simple consultations such as this. May be a great dentist. This dentist is without a doubt, the absolute best! I have experienced more dental pain in my lifetime than I care to remember. That was until about 14 years ago when I met Dr. Ghannam. Honestly he is the most caring dentist I have ever been to. Unlike most dentists, he actually 'listens' to his patients. He has never caused me pain. When he works on you, he makes sure whatever procedure he is performing is not causing you pain. And the quality of his his work is superior. I never have to worry about returning to his office because something was not done properly. I drive from Fremont/San Jose to Antioch because he is such a great dentist. I went an got seen yesterday morning, filled out some paperwork then got seen , doc poked around a bit gave me xrays and told me I have 4 cavities and I need my wisdom teeth took out he then said he can't do them that I need to see a oral surgeon got up and left I then look to to assistant and ask well can he at lease do my cavities she said no then I asked if there going to do any thing to help me she said no slammed my folder on the counter as I walk out to leave I get home get on the phone with dentical to help me find an oral surgeon they help me find a place in fairfeild that will help I get an apt and am told I need a referral to be seen to call or go to the dentist I seen this morning so I call an ask for one I'm told they don't give referrals,so I call back dentical to help me I'm lost at this point and they say that they have to give you a referral and had there supervisor call them so I get a call this morning saying they will send my referrals down to where I have my apt I give them the information wait 3 hours call to make sure they got it and they said they have not received anything so I call back this office to tell them I had spoke with someone this morning that told me they would fax my referral she then very rudely said I have already sent it twice so I then tell her they have not received it and if she can try again please and she then said she's not sending it again then hangs up I try to call them back and she picks up says nothing and hangs up so I call from a different number she picks up very nicely says sorry for the hold what can I help u with I tell her I don't appreciate been hung up on I'm not being rude I'm not cursing I just need help she says I already sent it twice I'm not sending it again I then ask if I can go down there to pick it up she says no she already faxed it and said we normally don't give referrals but will give it to u only so that why we faxed it so I said I can come down with the cops or u can try and fax it again and hung up ..so I call the place in fairfeild and tell them what's going on and if I can possibly been seen without one she then said oh look we finaully got it !!!! I would not recommend anyone to this place they put up a good front tell your in there and there all rude can't believe the way I was spoke to by the receptionist and that's the one they have answering the phones I even let her no the way I'm being talked to is way bad for business..sorry so long but thought I'd share an all around bad business book read more

Had to change my dentist because I now have Delta Care and I needed to select a dentist other than the one they automatically assign you. Since I'm in Antioch, I wanted a local dentist, and I'd been to his building before for some other things, so I went ahead and signed up, knowing I could change again if I needed to. I had a teeth cleaning and exam to check for cavities. Dr. Ghannam actually did the teeth cleaning. Did a good job, and I had no cavities, so I know he wasn't trying to play me. Had root planing done here, and have had it done many times at many different dentists. Dr. Ghannam is great. He is considerate and professional. His office staff is also top notch, very friendly and sensitive. My wife went first and convinced me to change, and I am glad I did. read more

If I could give negative starts, I would. I have never been treated so badly anywhere. He accepts my insurance and is under contract to only charge certain amounts for certain services. He does not follow these guidelines. He was also trying to double bill my secondary insurance for services that my primary insurance covered and charge me an additional $300. When I asked him where he got that price from, he said he was giving me a discount and would not tell me what type of crown he was going to use. When I showed him the book of my coverage and the amount he can charge me, he became irate and told me to leave and find someone to do it for that price. When I told him that we can call the insurance together to discuss it with them in the event that I didn't understand, he told me to get out of his office and escorted me out. He told me that he has accepted my insurance for years and has never went by the book. read more

In Dec-2012 I visited this Dentist and had a new crown done on one of my teeth. In Jul-2013 after continued pain on the same tooth that Dr. Ghannam had done the crown work, I went back to see him in an emergency basis to the the pain resolved and to have him identify the cause of such continued pain. Dr. Ghannam proceeding to take an x-ray of the problem tooth but he failed to show me the actual x-ray as my experience has been in the past with other dentists. Dr. Ghannam then informed me that the crown work he had performed was good and that I needed to have a root canal on that same tooth. Dr. Ghannam then send me on my way home, without even at a minimum providing any type of temporary resolution to the pain I was experiencing. I felt that he just wanted to get rid of me and did not care at all about my well being or of his professional performance. Due to money restraints I was not able to seek the second opinion of another dentist until Aug-4-2014 at which time I was able to see an Endodontist for a second opinion. Note that it had now been two years since Dr. Ghannam did the crown work on my tooth and I still continued to experience pain. During my Aug-4-2014 consultation with the Endodontist, the Endodontist informed me that the crown work Dr. Ghannam had performed left a large gap between the crown edge and my gum line, which resulted in severe and a bacterial attack (infection) to my tooth. The Endodontist also informed me that he DID NOT recommend me having a root canal on said tooth due the severity of the bacterial infection. Instead he recommended the actual completely extraction of my tooth. The Endodontist indicated that it would not be prudent to have a root canal on the tooth and have another crown placed inn (as Dr. Ghannam had previously recommended), as there was a high probability that even with a root canal done and another crown, I would still most likely require the complete extraction of my tooth. Due to the severity of the pain I opted sadly for the surest course of action which was to have my tooth extracted. My point is, DO NOT go to this Dentist, he IS NOT professional and is completely dishonest. Due to his malpractice I had to experience severe pain and ended up losing one of my teeth (tooth #18). read more
