In general, it provides good transportation in Munich. But it is fairly expensive (about 10.4 Euros (about $16) for a ride from the train station to the airport). And there are traps for the unwary! There are essentially no personnel to help, and ticket purchases are done in automated kiosks with unclear instructions. One pitfall is that the tickets are only good for 4 hours, unless you specifically buy an "advanced ticket" and then validate it when entering the platform. It is assumed you understand this nuance, but if you come from a place iike NYC or Wash DC (wheremetro/subway tickets are good forever and are considered used only when you enter the startion) you can find yourself out of luck and out considerable funds. We had the experience of buying 4 tickets not realizing this, and when we tried to use them the next day, discovered we had to buy NEW tickets and were basically out the 40 Euros (about $60 bucks!!) for the now useless tickets we bought the night before and had to purchase new tickets!. Attempts to rectify this at the main train station or airport "help" desks were unsuccessful. The people were rude, rigid, and incredibly unhelpful. I am still trying to get reimbursed by writing to the S DB, but am so far unsuccessful. Beware! read more
