We recently visited Schumachers for the first time in years to use a gift certificate we had…read morereceived. It was exactly as I remembered. The food was good, but nothing special. I expected more for the price.
The service was very attentive, but almost to a fault. Every couple minutes we were interrupted. We sat upstairs, where there are four small tables crowded together in a tiny space. All the tables were occupied and we felt very observed, aware that everyone in the tiny room could hear our every word. It was uncomfortable.
Our evening ended on a particularly sour note when we asked for the check and handed over our gift certificate. A few minutes later, we were smugly informed that the gift certificate -- which we received during COVID and did not include an expiration date -- had expired and the restaurant refused to accept it. Ugh.
Needless to say, we will not be going back to Schlumachers.
