Please Read before making a decision, please know that my over all review is pretty hard to give,…read morehere's why: In Jan of 2018 when we had a pipe burst that was due to a broken spigot knuckle ( that was not our fault, this was stated by the plumbing company. Long story short, the plumbing company i had to call on a "fly literally" The owner and his partner showed up, which was a blessing for our family, they then noted that we would need a Remediation company who the owner of the plumbing company called right then for me. Midwest came out, and looked around gave us a quote, the men who came out were OUT STANDING in every possible way, so good that one their mannerism and they way they worked I would highly recommend them!! SO here is why I can ONLY give 3 stars, which if it wasn't for the Amazing workers that showed up, I would not have been able to give the company even 3 stars... Reasons are when it came to paying, we desperately tried to work with this company, we had asked to be put on a payment plan, due to deciding not to turn it in to our insurance because the cost was just barely enough that the insurance would even cover it, plus it happened so early in the year, that we were not willing to risk turning it in. So the finance manager had verbally promised my husband that he would email us the promissory note ( which unfortunately never came ) If that wasn't bad enough the ladies running the office seemed to be very UN-organized, and sneaky... What I mean is they don't return calls well, and when they did, one of the ladies who was older tried to get me to verbally authorize a payment right there over the phone. First off I knew better, and I told her, that my husband had all ready talked to the finance manager, a payment plan had all ready been decided on, and that we were still waiting on the promissory note to be emailed, she would need to talk further with my husband about the payment. That's she quickly stopped and changed course, and let me know she knew about the promissory note, and even went as far to say "I was a very smart woman" Due to taking Dave Ramsey (FPU class) in Feb through April, deep down inside I knew because "yes" we owed the money for the work that was done to this company. Even though they did not keep their end of what they said they would do, every month from Feb on, my husband and I put the verbally agreed monthly payment amount away, so that regardless of whether or not we heard from them, we were going to save up the rest of the money and pay off the debt we owed them. ( We now know there is a much better way!!) Some months had passed and they even tried to email me survey about how they did, I laughed because they never did what they said they were going to do, then a month or so later they sent us a bill for the remaining amount, they didn't ask for the monthly payment that had been decided on, that was to be paid in payments according to the note we never got. So my husband called them and asked to speak the the finance manager, who was said to be out, again about the note, from what I know my husband didn't hear back from him. Well this past month we did pay them completely. I don't know what is going on with them as a company. I know that they have some Awesome God fearing men who work for them, and due Amazing work, and for that alone I do give them 5 perfect starts!!! I do know that January was a crazy cold month, and from what I heard a lot of people experienced even worse than what we did. I forgive them as a company for the mistakes that they made, I even hesitated to even give a review, because of how mixed mine is..... I don't like for any one to try to trick me into saying or doing something, which is in fact what I felt the older lady whom I spoke to over the phone that day tried to do to me, " then when she realized it wasn't going to happen" then said I was a "smart woman" "Ladies it's just simple talk with your spouse, be on the same page" Also before I do go further, I know how it is to be over whelmed, I get that.... It just bothered me, that they never reached out to us, and said "hey look, things are crazy we have been crazy backed up, when is a good time to send this promissory note to you, so we can get this money taken care of" Rather than just sending us a bill, and not calling us back. Again I forgive them, do I recommend them as a company, I would like too, because the work that was done was Amazing, the guys knew what they were doing. However I am not sure on office personnel, or financial department. In my humble opinion, because of the potential that they really do have to be a Great Company, if they had more help, and a better organized way of dealing with and handling business, both in the front office for taking and returning calls, as well as the finance department. They would really rock!! Right now I say: if you are a God fearing person and you have peace on hiring them. Then do so, if not then don't.

Shame on Midwest Remediation. I initially thought I was one of the few with a grievance, but after…read moreseeing so many similar complaints, I am shocked they are still in business. Following a flood in my basement, I requested a quote on December 18, 2025. Seth repeatedly led me to believe the estimate was almost ready, causing me to delay hiring a different company--a decision I deeply regret. They didn't actually start the work until January 2026. Furthermore, they were completely dishonest about the costs. I was told the total would be $21,000, but that a $5,000 credit would be issued via a change order because they used cheaper materials. I have the text messages to confirm this agreement, yet they are now claiming no such promise was ever made. Their lack of integrity is appalling. Avoid this company at all costs.

If you happen to find yourself losing your entire freshly finished basement to water, I Highly do…read morenot recommend using Michaelis Corporation for water mitigation. From the very beginning, we were put under pressure. The manager who came to give an estimate told us it was basically "now or never" and that if we didn't make a decision right then, he would leave because he had plenty of other other jobs lined up. When you're dealing with water in your home, that kind of pressure forces you into a rushed decision without really understanding what you're agreeing to. The work that followed did not match what we were told or what we were billed for. The biggest issue is they did not even touch the utility room, which is where the water originated from. According to their own photos, there was no extraction, or drying equipment ever in that room which is something we didn't notice until after we found water pooling under furniture weeks later during putting our basement back together. That alone makes no sense for a mitigation job. They told us they would come back the next day to check moisture levels and water percentages. They never came. Then they told us the same thing again the following days. After multiple excuses, instead of ever coming back, they told us to just shut the equipment off ourselves. They still charged us for 4 days. Not only did we find pooled water still sitting under furniture and items on the floor, mold starting, and damage to drywall and studs. Water had also gone underneath cabinetry and the island, and none of that had been removed or handled. So weird.... that's exactly why I called a mitigation company to catch and prevent. They also left a huge mess in our yard for four days that killed our grass, after telling us they would be back the next morning to clean it up. And this was not just debris from our home. It was trash from brand new equipment they brought in and unboxed at our house. We were charged for retrieving equipment from another job site to come to ours, which clearly did not happen as we watched them bring in new equipment and open it in our yard, then leave the packaging behind. EVERY TIME we called the manager he was rude and would say "I'm working 16 hour days you're gonna have to wait." When we were only holding him to what he said he would do. We were also charged for other services we did not receive, including water extraction (we never had water extracted only drying... "after hours" work that took place around 3:30 in the afternoon, extended run time fees when it was there fault they didn't come back to get their equipment, clean up and debris removal (that they left in our yard, charges for the square footage they never touched, and charged us for full scope mitigation even though they didn't touch an entire room or take out the wood tack strip under the carpet. We were charged for 8 things that did not happen. A year later, we are STILL dealing with the aftermath. What should have been handled correctly the first time has turned into more work, more stress, and even more money out of our pocket! We trusted them during a stressful situation and that was a mistake. I wouldn't consider allowing them to do work in your home, but if you do ask questions, document everything, and do not assume the invoice reflects what actually happened. These people don't care about you, your home or your safety.

Again I implore everyone to avoid this business. If you have time, read the recent indiana Supreme…read moreCourt opinion Safeco Insurance Company and Ramona Wilson v Michaelis Corp. Michaels never listens and is horrible at communicating! In that case, a faulty kitchen device caused a fire and $500,000 of damage to the woman's house. Michaelis was brought in to clean up and was instructed to leave the kitchen area untouched. "Michaelis then demolished the kitchen and discarded the [kitchen device]." Basically ruining the insurance company's only hope of recovering their $500,000. Michaelis got it dismissed on a technicality because third party screwups like this don't make them liable for the faulty kitchen device. Michaelis screwed up and got away with it! Their poor communication when I needed them is further evidence that these guys stink! Avoid them if communication is at all important to you.
