Located in the centre of York next to Santander on High Ousegate, this Ryman store is the only branch the chain has in the city after another branch nearby closed down.
I visited this store on a recent trip to York and was left really let down and disappointed with the store mainly down to the overall feel and size of the store.
The store its-self is so much smaller than other Ryman stores I have visited, I'd even go as far to say the branch in Blackburn, a town with a population of just over 100,000 is larger than this branch in York, a city with around double Blackburn's population. The size of the store is something you'd expect from an express style supermarket in a busy area, or London perhaps, certainly not a stationary store.
The overall feel and look around the store is old-fashioned, and the whole store just feels a tight squeeze to walk around in a single file, it isn't a very pleasant place to shop either.
The staff didn't seem to stand out, they were average in most sense, which is probably the best part I can find about this store, which I found to be too small and slightly old-fashioned to even have a half-decent shopping experience here, so sadly I feel this is one of the poorer Ryman stores I have visited, and I've visited quite a few as regular readers of my reviews would know, so sadly this Ryman store in York deserves a single one-star rating, it just isn't fit for purpose in any form. read more
