After speaking to the boys who claimed no fault of their own and in fact blamed my much smaller, younger son of assaulting them, didn't bother asking my son for his side of the story. My son complained to me of difficulties moving his jaw and headache. I ended up taking my son to urgent care and filing a complaint with law enforcement. Mary Swanlund did nothing to protect my child and when asked to do the very least by escorting the kids off the premises, she decided to smirk and smile condescendingly, blinking her eyes without saying a word. As we were leaving, I did see the two boys laughing at my son still crying and talking about how annoyed they were that my son wanted to play with them.

Overall he felt he didn't get a lot out of it. The other kids were very unsportsmanlike, often putting him down. He had decided this is the sport he wanted to hone in on and after a year and a half of not playing due to a global pandemic, he was definitely rusty but was hopefulto get back into the game. My son came home feeling very defeated over being put down by the other kids every single day he was there. When asked what the adults in charge did about it after he made them aware of the behavior, he said "well ... nothing". When running camps such as these one of the expectations I have as a parent is that the kids be encouraging, but sadly this was not the case. At the end of the clinic, my son asked how he would receive his evaluation since he wanted to work on any areas of improvement with his dad. The coach said "check the email for which you signed up." Interesting because I paid via venmo and reached out to sign him up through text as instructed. So it's almost August and never got the evaluation as advertised. I'd like to give BBA another try at some point but it would be helpful if they would work on the attitude and behavior of their players and follow through on delivery of services as advertised. At this point I'd spend my $100 elsewhere.

For a year, their teachers highly recommended Door of Hope, but I was skeptical and I really didn't want to adjust my schedule. As time went on, they were failing. I thought I could do my own research and teach them myself, but that never happened. At the beginning of this year, I decided that I had no choice. In order for my sons to succeed and improve their self confidence, I had to give Door of Hope a try. Thank God we did. Within a few months, their reading level increased by grade levels. My boys were so confident in reading. They even improved in comprensión and math. I really hope that if you were like me, you give Door of Hope a chance. The education and help is priceless.
