I cannot recommend Ferny Jiu-Jitsu enough! My son, who is an only child and homeschooled, has been training here for several months, and the transformation has been incredible. Not only has he gained physical strength, but his confidence and assertiveness have skyrocketed. Professor Ferny, a 3rd-degree black belt, is an exceptional teacher. His deep knowledge of jiu-jitsu really shines, and he knows how to make each class both challenging and fun. One thing I really appreciate is the gym's philosophy on earning your stripes "Where everything is earned, not given." They are not handed out easily, which teaches my son the value of hard work, perseverance, and discipline. It's a great lesson in life that goes beyond just jiu-jitsu. Ferny Jiu-Jitsu is also a competition gym, and they regularly join tournaments. Jiu Jitsu has been an amazing skill for my kids to learn. They've both had their share of being bullied at school, but Coach Ferny has taught them the skills they need to improve their confidence and their sense of security. I read on another review someone complaining about Coach asking for parents to pitch in for pizza, but looking at the bigger picture, his fees are the lowest around. I've had my kids in other sports, the fees were a lot more expensive and parents still had to contribute for lunches and stuff. I think that's just common sense whenever you involve your kids in extracurricular activities. It costs money. Why not invest in something that works their body and mind? They learn self control, problem solving skills, and camaraderie between their teammates. Yes, Coach pushes for tournaments, but we are a competitive team. It's no secret nor did he blindsided us with that info. There's a reason why we are one of the top academies. Our kids go out there and leave everything on the mat. 3 Months ago if someone would have asked me if I would have let my 3-year-old son do Jujitsu I would have said Hell Naw! 3 months later my son has competed in the American Grappling Federation's Las Vegas tournament and won 3rd place in the Gi and No Gi. I say that to say this Coach Ferny at Ferny Jujitsu really helped my son grow his confidence and his skill level. Most Gyms want even consider a 3-year-old for training on their teams, but Coach Ferny was more than willing to allow my son to participate and train on the team. Coach works with the kids and has patience and takes his time to develop your children's skill levels. My son has been training with Ferny Ju Jitsu for the last year and I can't brag enough about his success. My son is so excited to attend class, he's bummed if we miss a day.
