I had a major heart attack about 15 years ago and was treated by one of the physicans at this…read moregroup, namely Dr. Britz. As a result of my heart attack they implanted 2 stents at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. I left the hospital with several prescriptions, after a few months they all ran out but one, the one for Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg. For the first 10 years, once a year, when I would renew my prescription at the local Walgreens, they would have to check with the Dr.'s office for renewal, this renewal was always given and I never had any contact with the Doctor, for 10 years, then, suddenly I had to see them every year to get checked out, the first time I went I kidded him about this being a "CYA" type of check up and I told him he should pay for it, he did! The first time anyway. I had to see him every year, that lasted for a couple of years and then I was told he was,"On leave" and I was seen by a Nurse Practitioner instead of my Doctor, he was now out of the picture. This year I called to make my appointment and was told I had to see a different Nurse Practitioner, when I started to complain, the girl who answered the phone became very rude and when I informed her of her bad manners she turned me over to the Office Manager, who it turned out had manners that were just as bad or worse. When I pointed this out to her, she hung up on me. The next day I recieved a registered letter from the firm telling me that after 30 days they would not provide me with any medical support, and they still didn't renew my perscription. If you look up Metroprolol Tartrate on line you will note that the first thing they tell you about it is that you must not stop taking it suddenly, bad things will result. It is my personal opinion that this is just another organization of "Get rich on insurance" Doctors who treat their patients like cows in a milking barn and when one of the cows acted up they cut it off.
