Wow what a strange, disappointing experience today was. After being a patient of Dr. Allaman's…read moresince 2016, I was treated like a second-class citizen since, as I was clearly told during today's appointment, "Dr. Alllaman ONLY does surgeries". Since I've already had cataract surgery in both eyes, I am no longer of use? I am 65 and have not had my eyeglass prescription checked in 2 years, but when I was FINALLY seated (30 minutes late), the technician came at me with dilatating drops. I stopped her because even I know that would happen AFTER checking for a potential new prescription. At this point, I was ushered to another building, to a dirty office to see a nice old doctor, who completed my exam, gave me the new prescription, then led me BACK to Allaman's office, where I had to pay $100 more than expected. Still trying to figure how what just happened, will find another doctor next year!

Allaman Eye Care & Associates is truly an incredible ophthalmology practice that has given me…read moreabsolutely marvelous eye care for several years. Dr. Allaman is a wonderful surgeon. I have had two cataract surgeries and my vision is fantastic. He also put a stent in each eye, which is a duct that relieves eye pressure (glaucoma) - now both eyes are normal pressure. Dr. Allaman is very pleasant and polite, but very professional and gets right down to business with very little extraneous chit-chat, as he is incredibly busy. He has an absolutely phenomenal staff. They are warm, kind, and very friendly, but incredibly skilled and good at what they do. I usually have questions that I forget to ask when I'm in the office, but a call to the office later, gets you a quick and friendly answer. It is amazing how many people Dr. Allaman sees in a day. He has five exam rooms that are usually full, but has adequate staff to go through initial exam procedures for each patient. Even with the mass volume of patients the most I think I have ever waited was 10 to 15 minutes. I am extremely thankful to Dr. Allaman for giving me the gift of good vision.

Dr. Kesler-Diaz literally saved me from near-blindness. It's a long story and does not reflect well…read moreon the office where she works. But in full disclosure: I think she's the best. I would just like to address two points that some other (negative) reviews mention: 1) Dr. Kesler-Diaz is not responsible for the mess that is scheduling and patient management at PAMF ophthalmology or for their business model. She is also not responsible for the errors and incompetence of her medical colleagues. She is a Florence Nightingale, and that department is the Crimean War. So, yes, I think we are lucky to have her. But if you think you can do better somewhere else and are willing to drive whatever time it takes, I wouldn't blame you, but you shouldn't blame her for the systemic problems at PAMF. 2) The diagnosis and treatment of cataracts is not so binary as some reviewers here seem to think. It is a complex subject that deserves a good deal of understanding based on research. One of the factors influencing the timing is the possibility of performing the surgery together with glaucoma surgery. There is tremendous synergy involved and the cataract surgery itself provides pressure relief. There may be other factors as well, so read up on it or at least ask questions. The reviewer who said the doctor might be trying to drum up business for the surgery could not be more mistaken about her or uninformed about the real-world situation. Sure, you can probably wait to have that surgery and you might want to because surgery is scary, but are you aware of all the consequences of waiting? Ask and be enlightened before condemning.

She discovered a retina tear during my exam and immediately referred me to a retinal specialist. Her assistant was able to get me an appointment that afternoon. Having been a chiropractor for over 20 years, I know about non-pharmaceutical-driven healthcare…read more The integrative medicine practiced by Rachel Abrams MD is the future of healthcare, and she is a shining star in that discipline. Rachel excels at determining exactly which lab tests to order, how to interpret them, and then how to prescribe the best supplements to correct the problem. She is especially adept at resolving hormonal issues and cholesterol problems, but can handle any medical problem, and especially preventative care. However, she is also there with a hug at the right time when needed. She is brilliant, caring, and very kind-hearted, and this comes through in her holistic approach. Rachel really helped me and gave me my quality of life back. She listens and takes the time to get to the real root of the problem. I truly trust her and her body of knowledge and can't I imagine not receiving this kind of healthcare. I am super happy with the high-quality healthcare I am getting from Rachel. The only downside to Rachel's practice is that her office does not bill insurance plans and she is not a preferred provider on PPO plans and is not on any HMO plans, so she is out of network. However, this is understandable given that dealing with insurance companies is an unpleasant, full-time job. Therefore, her services are expensive, but are worth it, so overall it's a good value. When it comes to your health, it's really worth it. If you just want to take a pill for the rest of your life and are OK with all of the possible side effects, then integrative medicine is probably not for you. However, if you want to be able to spend quality time with your doctor and be able to talk to and work with your doctor to get to the root of the problem and solve it, and not just mask the symptoms, then Rachel is who you want to see for your healthcare.
