Ask the Community - Ryan Offer, MD

Does anyone know where Dr Ryan Offer has moved to since the Drexel OBGYN closed?

Found her! She'll be starting at Penn Medicine (3701 Market Street) in February 2020.

Her center city office is closing permanently soon. Does anyone know where Dr Offer will be going to practice after?

She told me to google her within the next several months to see where she establishes herself! I keep looking but have not found any new information as of yet.

Offer twice now without any discomfort, so obviously it was the Dr.'s who were being too rough and not a problem with me!

That's fine, not everyone is in network, but the way they said it made me think that I have zero fertility coverage, not just that they specifically aren't covered (the clinic I switched to DOES accept my insurance). I should have checked with my insurance but they definitely should have been more clear. Anyway, so every time I had an appointment I checked out at the front desk and asked what we owe. My intention was to pay out of pocket as we went, every single time. Yet after my first and only failed IUI, we were told we had a surprise $700 bill. I repeatedly asked to speak with the finance team that never called me back. Also, after the failed IUI, I didn't get a SINGLE phone call or message in the portal indicating sympathy. Nothing whatsoever, just something to the effect of "let us know when you want to come in again". We pay thousands of dollars out of pocket and you can't leave one voicemail saying we're so sorry this didn't work? Nothing?! And instead just "hey you owe us another $700" I'll leave a single star because their front desk person seemed nice.

Regardless of what they tell you you will owe or what is covered by insurance, do not believe them. Get absolutely everything pre approved in writing down to individual tests and visits even when they tell you they are covered because they will fall back on a general waiver they force you to sign at the beginning. They take no responsibility in providing accurate cost estimates and will absolutely blame you for their lies. We were told that we would have no costs for a given cycle and even with insurance coverage for the procedure, they claimed that we should have known that they were not contracted by the insurance provider for the specific treatment. When we asked for the contract details, which would have been the only way to know this in advance and determine that their guidance was wrong, they refused and said it was private. So their position is that even if they tell us something wrong and provide a service they are not contracted to provide, it is on us to know the truth they refuse to disclose and because we signed a waiver, they can charge us anything they want. Do not go to this clinic. If you do, don't trust any numbers they say or quote. And get ready for the most irresponsible and unprofessional example of exploiting patients.

I was willing to wait because I believed the quality of care would justify the delay. However, the day before my appointment the office cancelled it, even though the office was open that day, and no one contacted me to reschedule. After waiting two days without any communication, I began calling the office daily. Four days later, I finally reached someone at their scheduling call center, who informed me that my appointment had already been rescheduled without anyone contacting me to confirm whether the new date or time worked for me. Not only was the appointment moved without my consent, but they also changed the provider, despite the fact that I had specifically requested a particular doctor based on my medical needs. This lack of communication and disregard for patient preferences was extremely unprofessional. To make matters worse, the new appointment was scheduled two months after the original date, even though the cancellation was initiated by the office. Given that I had already waited five months, this level of disorganization and poor patient care is unacceptable. The overall experience reflected a very low standard of care and professionalism. I would not recommend this location to others.

Due to impossibility scheduling, I landed on this location to not delay my annual by months. Scheduling - inconvenient. They have the MyChartJefferson, but I would go in every single morning around 7 am and click every single day that is available on the calendar, and every single day it was unavailable. I played that game for a month. Finally I messaged them on MyChart and they got me scheduled, but each year scheduling seems to be difficult. My appointment keeps getting pushed back 2 months + past my annual, but it is what it is - American Healthcare. Dr. Lackritz is great, the best GYN I've had in a while and why I continue to return to see her. I had a relatively smooth experience at this location. When you enter on the ground floor they check you in, and give you a paper and direct you downstairs. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my appointment, and was seen appx 15 minutes after my appointment time, annoying but relatively typical of healthcare in the states. Fingers crossed for a better scheduling experience next year, but we shall see!

My first appointment I waited for quite a while, but then the Doctor came in to see me and paid me her complete undivided attention for almost an hour. After 10 years of seeing doctors who don't see or hear me, it was well worth the wait to feel so confident that someone was listening. And she listened, and then she helped. I've been back for a few visits and a procedure since and the care just keeps getting better- the folks in the office are so very friendly and kind while you wait, and everyone along the journey from waiting room to exam room treated me like they know me and care about my wellbeing. Dr. Beausang specifically has such an excellent bedside manner, always so attentive and really listening to what I'm saying and needing. She's given me a renewed hope and confidence that there are doctors out there who are willing to hear a patients self-advocacy and collaborate on the quality care they need, and who show up for their patients when they're in need. I would give the practice 5/5, 10/10, 100%, and am happy to wait a little bit longer if it means getting real care!

My mom's English is limited and requested Dr. Abdul-Rahman call me whenever important information needs to be relayed. Dr. Abdul-Rahman has always called me personally to update me on my mom's progress after every important visit (with her consent of course) and has always been patient in answering all of my questions and concerns. This is truly a luxury nowadays as I can never get a hold of my own doctor and can only communicate information through her receptionist and sometimes NP. My mom had an issue a few years where she needed repeat imaging but her PCP misread her chart and told her she did not need it. I called Dr. Rahman and she immediately answered her phone and offered to send the script for the imaging if we cannot work it out with the PCP. I'm so appreciative of her time and patience. IUD insertion experience, no insurance: I had a flawless experience from start to finish. First, there were two volunteers in front of the door who ushered me inside. A protester was outside and one of the volunteers put her arms around me and swept me inside so kindly and quickly to avoid him. The service at the desk was excellent -- I did not need to provide any paperwork to prove my income or household size -- I simply wrote down my monthly income and living expenses on a piece of paper and passed it back to the employee with no questions asked. I paid without insurance and personally qualified for about 90% off the standard charge. The office, bathroom, waiting room, and examination rooms were all very clean, bright, and pleasant. I spent no time at all in the waiting room -- I was called to be seen as soon as I collected my urine sample. The bathroom was a large, single gender-neutral bathroom and I was able to put my urine sample in a box right there in the bathroom. The nurse that inserted my IUD was wonderful, kind, and comforting. She gave me all the information I needed and answered all of my questions. She talked me through everything that would happen during the procedure ahead of time and again as each step was happening. She also showed me all of the tools she used. The insertion took less than 10 minutes and was 99% pain-free (briefly felt like period cramps.) I was given ibuprofen and cervical numbing at no extra charge. I was given privacy and was able to leave the room at my leisure once it was over -- I was invited to take my time to stay and rest if needed. I was given a water bottle and pads at no cost. I did not have to check out when I left. The volunteers at the door greeted me on my way out, and once again shielded me from the protesters. A woman walked with me all the way to the end of the block. (I gave her a hug -- she was an angel.) I was blown away by how easy my experience was and how kind the employees and volunteers were. I will be donating to Planned Parenthood for the rest of my life. I am so grateful for their services. Access to this birth control has the potential to prevent an abortion or a birth that I cannot afford.
