I was referred to this Barbershop by a friend and I' am forever grateful. I was paired with Rick, who can literally do anything that you ask him to do. Whenever I come in I pull up a random photo of what I want my hair to look like and he surpasses my expectations each time. The best part about it all is that you can schedule an appointment and he'll actually be ready for you upon arrival. I decided to post a review to compliment my son's barber, Greg. He just started working at RVM about a month ago. I had some free time today so i decided check out the shop's yelp page. (I'm an avid Yelp member lol I'm kind of addicted lol) but before i speak about Greg, I'll share my thoughts on RVM. I love the shop. It's clean, and everyone is super cool and nice. There's even staff that comes around to pass out snacks and drinks to clients while they wait to get their haircut. It's in a prime location (la brea & Wilshire) and it's surrounded by plenty of great places to eat (which i love because i can kill time eating while I'm waiting on my son to get his haircut lol) Now let me share my opinion of Greg as a barber. I have to say I came across a very negative review that in no way represents the gentleman that has cut my son's hair for about a year. From what i know about Greg, he's been cutting hair for nearly 20 years and i was referred to him by 2 of my brothers who have been getting their hair cut by him for about 10 of those years. I will be honest, Greg is usually booked to capacity, yet he still tries to accommodate everyone which often results in him running behind schedule. But the level of service that he provides to his clients is unparalleled so i never mind waiting. Especially because there's been times he's accommodated me when I've been late. Ive taken my son to about 4 barbers and none of them provided the experience that Greg provides. He uses hot towels, eucalyptus oils, and face masks. His haircuts take a little longer than normal haircuts because of the precision he puts into every cut. Even with kids!! I'd recommend Greg to anyone. Truthfully he's so good at what he does I'd even recommend him to people who live outside of the LA area because i think people need to experience his service. Here are some pictures of Greg's work. I found RVM Cutz late one Saturday night (8/12/2017 to be exact) when I was in a panic. My son was set to start his first day of school EVER, that Monday (8/14/2017). In fact, school was starting for PLENTY of other kids that Monday. I went to his usual barber that Saturday and he was busy, but I was willing to wait. I had been a loyal, great tipping client, and despite this, he turned me away and asked me to come back on Tuesday. It was still fairly early in the day, so I'd be lying if I didn't say I was hoping he would just squeeze us in because, again, I had been a loyal and great tipping client. No such luck. I was kind of panicked because I did want my son to look good for his first day of school, and without a fresh cut, it just wasn't going to happen. I asked for recommendations from friends on Facebook. I got a few, but not many. None of the barbers had any of their work online, which is a shame in this day and age of free marketing through social media. So instead of gambling on a barber without a portfolio, I starting scanning Instagram. I needed someone who met two requirements in addition to being good at cutting hair: 1) They had to work on Sundays 2) They had to accept appointments. Both of those are things the last barber didn't do. I found RVM Cutz, then I scanned their page, as it highlighted their barbers. I went through all the pics and found Fleye. All the haircuts I liked were his, so I visited his page after seeing him tagged on the photos. He had a link to book appointments listed in his profile. Once I clicked that link, the prices were listed as well. Sundays were available on his calendar. More importantly, Sunday, as in the very next morning was available. Made the appointment and arrived to a very nice, clean barbershop. It was so nice that I took a pic from the front door and sent it to my husband, before I stepped all the way in the shop. Fleye was there on time. He cut the hell out of my baby's hair, and gave him a nice design. He even fixed the mess of a hairline the last barber made during his last haircut. I truly had intentions of going to Fleye just that one time, and then returning to his original barber. I mean, the drive is further for me and the cut is slightly more expensive. However, as we drove away I realized there is no way I could go back to the other barber. Fleye cuts so sharp and clean. His fade game is amazing and can't be effed with. I didn't realize the difference in precision until after going to Fleye the first time. Plus, he is an artist so he can cut really intricate designs if you want them. I have come to the realization that I can't sit in the barber shop all day waiting to be seen, just to leave with a decent cut. Fleye has elevated the game. Now my husband is also Fleye's client, so he and my son are there every week. My best friend was driving from Palmdale to get her son's haircut by Fleye every other week, until her schedule changed. HORRIBLE! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Didn't even get my hair cut because the barber never showed up. The backstory: Last Saturday I came across the barber "Pnutt" (@pnuttcutz on IG). Liked his work, & saw that he cut women's hair as well, so I decided to book an appointment for the following Monday. I live in Fountain Valley, the shop is in LA. With traffic, that's a 1 hour drive. I pulled up to the shop just a few minutes before my 1pm appointment. There's one employee, a female, who's working at the time. She's too busy laughing with her client & another person to acknowledge me or the customer who walks in right behind me. I take a seat in the waiting area, and she walks over a few minutes later. I told her I had an appointment w/ Pnutt, she claims he's not there yet. I'm like no big deal, 5 minutes won't hurt me. 10 minutes pass, & he still hasn't walked in. Mind you, I had to catch a flight later on that afternoon, so I needed to be in & out. I ask the girl if he's usually in on Monday's, and she says "No, I would send him a text or call." That really made me mad. I kindly shoot him a text to see if he was coming in... he never replied. HOW DO YOU HAVE A BOOKING SYSTEM SET UP TO WHERE YOUR CLIENTS CAN BOOK YOU ON YOUR OFF DAYS?! Also, I BOOKED 2 DAYS IN ADVANCE. If you knew you weren't going to be in the shop, you should've communicated with me as soon as you received the booking notification! I arrived at this barber shop at 11:30am. The sign says "Walk-Ins Welcomed." I walked in and the first barber looked up at me, nodded and went back to his cut. I sat and waited. No other barber acknowledged me or asked if I was waiting for someone. A guy, Ramon, comes around cleaning. 45 minutes later, he come back and asks if I want a drink. I informed him I had been waiting for some time without any acknowledgement or help and I wasn't pleased with my experience thus far. He then walks me upstairs to a guy eating. He asks this guy if he can cut me and this guy casually says no. Then I'm told that the only other barber who can cut me, FOR THE REST OF THE DAY, has two walk ins ahead me...TWO WALK INS WHO ARRIVED AFTER I DID. Amazed by the unconcerned professionalism, I walked out. I am chased out by Ramon, who apologizes and offers a free hair cut for next time. But the damage is done. If you are new to the area and you're looking for a barber shop that makes you feel welcomed, don't come here. I was referred to this barber shop to have my hair cut by Greg. My appointment was scheduled for 10:00 am When I scheduled the appointment I also informed Greg that I needed to be back home by 12:30 pm to meet someone. He agreed to have me out by 12pm . I received a Msg on my way there to inform me that he was in traffic and would be 15 minutes late. Okay no worries, understandable. I arrive at 10:15am he still has not yet arrived. After waiting 15min I text him and he tells me he is about 15-20 minutes away with an apology. Greg arrived at 11:15am. Greg cut my hair and I was out by 12:10pm not to bad although I had to cut out having him rewash my hair. My hair cut was not like I wanted it but I thought maybe I could work with it. After arriving home and washing my hair I wanted to cry my hair was so uneven it was a total mess . I then called Greg to let him know my hair was uneven and a total mess I ask him if he could fix my hair cut. He said no problem send me some pictures and he would call me right back. After waiting for over 45 minutes I text him several times before he had some lady to call me back to tell me he's busy with back to back clients and he will get back with me I eventually spoke with him and he refused to accommodate me to fix my hair , he also had a really nasty attitude I then ask for a refund, he agreed to refund my money, later calling me back to ask if he could drop it off to me. I sent him my address. This was last Friday and I'm still waiting. I assume he do not plan to pay me back. I am very disappointed in the service that this brother has provided to me and the lack of professionalism that he has demonstrated. I will not be going back and do not recommend this brother to cut no ones hair . However I fell off and hadn't gotten my hAir cut By him in years. I scheduled an appointment with Bash on July 5. He cut my sister and I hair. I had no idea what design I wanted on my undercut. But I knew whatever Bash did was going to be BOMB.com . I saw some tattoos on one of the barbers head so jokingly I told Bash I wanted that. I tried over a dozen barbers since I moved to LA, and Fly is by far the best. If your just wanting something plain and basic, than it might be better to pick a neighborhood barber to hook you up for 20 bucks or so, but for me, I do film and photo shoots, plus I'm in LA, so I need my hair detailed to perfection, so it is worth me paying the extra cost.
