I see the review by a doctor of how good Ruzics is. I was referred to Ruzics by my former doctor, Dr. Borges, because Ruzics had delivered all of his daughters and he thought the guy was great. Karen's review bolsters my suspicions of Ruzics- he is great with other doctors/their wives and may also be more interested in women that reproduce and less caring about those that do not.
I'm not saying that this incompetent monster assaulted me, but it was just on the other side of it.
My chart showed that I had just ended a 5 year relationship, and that I'd lost about 30lbs since my last visit and was now underweight. Clear sign of depression, right? The FIRST thing this incompetent monster did was to ask if I was planning on having kids; not how I'm doing or if I had any concerns. Dude, I am SINGLE and depressed. I was very flustered and felt like I had to defend not having kids because I've had to do that so many times with baby-centric coworkers and the like. I asked for the Guardisil vaccine and he dismissed my request, waving his hand and making excuses that insurance may not cover it, it's multiple shots, and it's for younger people as his reason for refusing it. At some point I tried to ask about birth control. At this point I had told him I was recently single since he clearly hadn't looked at my chart. He got SO nasty with me, saying what I was asking about was for people in long term relationships. I was severely depressed and couldn't imagine seeing anyone at that time, but I was trying to be hopeful for the future. He literally got angry with me, asking in a terse, angry tone of voice if he needed to test me for STDs... What. the. actual. f-word. I was so shocked and in such a vulnerable place that I couldn't even verbalize a defense or explanation, and so let him do the test. I had cramps the rest of the day because he was so rough with his examination because he was mad at me. Some time later I told Dr. Borges about what had happened. I ended up sobbing and practically yelling in the exam room because I was so upset. Dr. Borges was shocked and dismayed, saying he was so sorry and that he had no idea Ruzics could be like this. After that nightmare with Ruzics, it was YEARS before I had the nerve to see another OBGYN, and only saw that doctor because a woman I worked with had had a similar situation but later found an excellent doctor at Paragon. When he retired two years later I did not have the courage to go to another doctor. I tried to go to planned parenthood because I was sure they would not be abusive, but my insurance refused to cover visits to them. So I waited another number of years until I ended up with insurance that would cover PP. My visit there was fine, so when my new primary care physician offered to refer me to a regular OB/GYN, and after asking many questions to the scheduling staff, I did get the nerve to go to a new OG who seems to be fine. And is definitely not an abusive, care denying monster. read more
