There's no lack of antique stores in the greater Wilson area of North Carolina, but Jean's Antiques…read morestands out as one of the best. Their collection of empire and early victorian furniture is simply without peer. And that's a tall compliment given some of the nearby competition. Prices are not the cheapest, but their selection often means that you're picking between a few strong pieces, and that's a bit of a rarity when you're looking for this sort of furniture. The people there are friendly and willing to negotiate, and I've been delighted with the four or five pieces I've picked up there over the past few years.

I found the perfect sofa in an online listing to match a chair that I already had, but was…read moreapprehensive about buying it sight-unseen (I live 10 hours away in NJ). I emailed with Janine several times and she assured me that if I saw it and it wasn't as described in the online posting, she would refund my money. They held the item for a few weeks until I could drive down to pick it up. When I arrived to pick up the sofa, it was absolutely stunning. Exactly as described and as represented in the photographs. The shop owners and workers were so friendly and I felt like I was a family member instead of a customer. They even loaded it into my truck for me, which was a nice surprise. The store is HUGE so there is a monstrous selection. The quality of their items is fantastic, and their prices are fair. I've seen similar items in stores in NJ and NY for double or triple the price. It was a fantastic experience, and I would absolutely buy from them again, even without seeing the item in person!

I get out to my car open the coin area only to find the inside is coming apart glue and all sticking to itself. Seriously $90 when you know it is damaged inside. Least you can do is mark it as such. Of course nothing is returnable.
