Super fun and kitschy place along I-80 in Nebraska. We pulled off the interstate because we saw…read morethere were several restaurants off that exit, and it was dinner time. We ended up eating at Whiskey Creek right next door, and after dinner we walked over to check the trading post out. It's so fun and inviting with its fort-facade, giant statue in the parking lot, wagons and cannons, how could we NOT? My guy enjoyed the museum exhibits at the back of the store, and I enjoyed browsing the goods for sale. Purchased several small items including the prerequisite post cards of the area and some pretty and tasty candy rocks. I also found, much to my delight, a pug-dog car decal. And they have an excellent selection of really beautiful sterling and gemstone Native American-made jewelry. I got a gorgeous "rainbow peridot quartz" ring - I've never seen anything else quite like it anywhere! My attached photo does it no justice, but the stone looks blue from some angles, green from others. Exquisite! Multiple sales associates ignored me as I lingered at the jewelry counter looking, but then a very tall young man came over to help me. He was personable, sweet and attentive, so it's all good. In my 40+ years of life, this was my first time ever driving across the center of the country, so I can't say when or even if I'll be back that way again. But if I ever am, I will definitely stop for another visit.

The owner was very frie and helpful when we were purchasing back in January 2024. we had purchased…read morefrom him even before this last purchase and service was very good also. But with this last purchase, delivery of the furniture became a major problem. Like I said, we ordered in January 2024, he said it could be 8-12 weeks for delivery. We had not received them by May 2024 and at that time we purchased a new home in Florida and would be moving in late September. He said they should be in by then, even sent message they were being shipped in June. fast forward and he said we could have them shipped to Florida just to let him know when arrived. We moved and still no chairs with constant communication on our part. The owner started ghosting us. He would not answer calls, reply to texts, so in December 2024 we had to finally hire an attorney to write a letter to get a refund for the deposit we had made back in January. After a year without receiving the chairs we felt was long enough. We were really disappointed with the service and communication from them. Like I had stated earlier, he was really good in previous transactions, but when things went bad on this transaction, i feel like he dropped the ball on Customer Service & Support along with communication. Ghosting a customer is not an answer and does not solve the problem.

Buyer beware! I first posted a glowing review after my initial experience with Tom Gosinski…read more(owner) at Dawson Home. If I had read Larry L's review before doing business there, I could have saved myself a huge burden of stress, disappointment and frustration--not to mention legal action to try to get a significant amount of money back. My experience has been almost an exact duplicate of the experience Larry L reported. Months and months of empty promises, inaction, ghosting, and creative deception. He requires payment in advance of ordering furnishings, wall covering, etc. And then every excuse in the book for items not arriving as promised, and he can be pretty convincing! Finally I received some of the furnishings I ordered, much later than he initially promised; but it was exhausting work to keep after him until they finally arrived. The embarrassing truth is that it appears he used my money for other purposes and did not even place the orders until he could scrape together the money for the order to the vendor. The other things I had paid for that he had to order never did arrive, and it appears they were never ordered. I put up with unbelievable excuses before I wised up and politely demanded a refund (in person at his store). He flatly refused, saying he didn't have the money, but "maybe in a month"?? Of course, no clue what happened to the money I paid him in January 2026, and it was now late July 2026. So now I'm left with no options except taking him to court, which I am doing. Such a shame! This guy has been well-known for his great designing ability, and it was beyond shocking to realize how his business is being run (or not) and how much deception was used. It brings me no pleasure to report this and to suggest interested consumers avoid this business completely, unless you can buy the item off the floor and carry it out with you on the same visit. Such a waste of good talent!
