Made an appt in the morning on a friday. Went in and filled out my paperwork and there was a long wait. So i asked if i could come back when there is less of a wait since i slipped out of work. the 2 girls in front told me to return at 1:30 pm. They knew i was in a lot of pain. So i returned at 1:23 pm and the front door is locked. I called their number and a girl answers and tells me the dr left at one o clock. What?! Whyd u tell me to come at 1:30 then? Why didnt u call me and tell me to come earlier, u have my number. "Oh yeah, we do, dont we? Well, do u want to come in tomorrow?" No, i do not. I'm still not fully sure what's wrong with me, and it hasn't been fixed either - but as a chiropractor Dr. Harper has done absolutely everything he and the rest of the staff are capable of and it has always helped at least lower the pain for awhile and helped a lot mentally. I wasn't able to see a general physician until just recently and it took almost half a year for my insurance to get figured out and now hopefully it will get fixed, but Dr. Harper was incredibly important in making those ~6 months something I could live through even if he couldn't fix it he made it go from insanely crippling pain to something far less terrible and for an unbelievably low price for each visit ($25) and with same-day appointments almost always. He was also very important in helping me mentally and emotionally get through it as when I discussed some of my mental issues such as severe anxiety and how bad this pain was making things for me beyond just physically he had a pretty personal conversation with me that really helped me a lot and made me feel more secure and lowered my anxiety about the situation. The staff and the doctor himself are all very kind and personable, so I'm not sure if the staff has changed dramatically or if these people are all lying in their reviews, as I've interacted with almost every employee and all of them are incredibly sweet and caring. Yes, Dr. Harper can be a little fast to move from patient to patient but never in a rude or offensive way - but in a way that if you NEED TO TALK TO HIM he will absolutely stop and clearly listen to you and discuss what's worrying you, but otherwise if you don't need anything extra this visit he's always over-booked every day and that's all it feels like is him wanting to care for as many patients in the day as he can, not at all rude or cutting you short. The lobby is always full of people who have been seeing him for sometimes decades and also claim the same level of kindness, care, and comfortable feeling. Then again the most negative review is someone who decided their first interaction with the staff should be to talk about their sexual preferences and how they are angry about a bumper sticker in the parking lot and not seeing why maybe that made the staff uncomfortable around them. Maybe your first meeting with someone, ANYONE let alone someone you're relying on to help you, shouldn't involve you screaming at them about how you're a proud lesbian and angry that some random car in the parking lot had a political sticker you disagree with. My one complaint about the place is that during my months there the place had a lot of bug issues - some alive but for the most part just a lot of clearly taken care of dead bugs but they were just piled all over in the corners of rooms and on the walls and I'm really not good with bugs so that also didn't help my anxiety. Other than that, nothing bad to say about the place or the staff - just clean up a bit more often. read more

I made an appointment solely based on the positive reviews here. I drove into the private parking lot for my 2pm appointment a little early. There were 3 other cars in the lot, and one of them had a Yes! on 102 bumpersticker on it. Instantly I felt uncomfortable. When I entered the clinic, I saw that I was the only patient there, as the staff was on lunch break. This led me to believe that the bumperstickered car in question was owned by an employee, even perhaps the doctor. I contemplated leaving, but I thought it would be unfair to give no notice. I contemplated saying something, but it's hard to say something when you feel like you have a knife in your stomach. "Hey, I see a car out there with a Yes! on 102 sticker on the bumper. Who here thinks of me as a second-class citizen?" In retrospect, I do wish I had said something, because I was just not able to fully relax. The receptionist peered out from behind the window and said, "Have you filled out this paperwork?" Not even a "Hello!" or "Welcome to our office!" I started filling out the paperwork, and of course most traditional intake forms ask for marital status. This does not phase most heterosexuals, but for me, I hate having to choose 'single' when I'm not. And then the form asked for the name of my husband or wife. So I crossed out 'husband' and wrote in my partner's name. When the doctor came to get me, he did not say hello, he did not smile, he did not come and shake my hand, he just stood there at the door saying for me to come with him. He brought me back to an examination room and told me to sit down in the chair, which was on the opposing wall. He stood near the doorway, unsmiling as he asked me a number of health-related questions. Since this was my first time ever meeting him, I did not know why he was keeping such a distance from me. Was this how he always was with patients? Did he prefer to give women a wider berth so as to seem more professional? Or was he uncomfortable with me because I had disclosed I had a female partner, and he didn't know how to handle it? Perhaps he had never worked on someone who was not openly heterosexual, and further, maybe felt guilty that he (or someone in his office) was voting against me having relationship equality. Without asking directly, it was impossible to tell. Then his assistant, a LMT, came in and put the hot packs and muscle stim on. The treatment felt good but it was difficult to relax because the LMT was so chatty. Don't they tell you in massage school that chatting about yourself is a no-no? That any talking should be about the patient and their health, unless the patient asks you about you? But she chatted on and on about her life and all her careers. Then the doctor came back and adjusted me and said I had a lot of inflammation in my neck. If that's the case, why was I under the hot packs for so long? I went out to pay and the receptionist said they don't take credit cards. I'm short on cash at the moment and didn't have a checkbook with me, but this is something that an office should tell you BEFORE you make an appointment. She apologized for this and said I could mail in a check. So not only did I have to fork over cash that was supposed to go to rent, I also had to pay for a freaking stamp. Perhaps the stars were misaligned that day, perhaps the doctor had not taken his caring and attentive pill, and perhaps it's best I not return. But this I know: I'm never putting a political bumpersticker on my car and then driving to work. You never know who you could turn away. read more

Very unsatisfying experience. I had been rear-ended and had been referred to Dr. Harper through a friend of a friend. I was experiencing pain and discomfort in my neck and shoulders and finally was able to come in to be treated about a week after the accident. When I sat down to speak with the doctor, he asked questions but then wouldn't allow me to finish my sentence. It was as if he already knew what I was going to say and so didn't need to hear more. The facilities are very old and outdated. It looks like a house that has been converted into a doctor's office so each room still has carpeting and makes for a very old feel. He recommended treatment and left me in the care of his young assistants. They were very sweet and easy to talk to. After the girls did their treatment, he came in, adjusted my neck either way and back once and told me to come back in two days. As I was leaving and gathering up my paperwork, he was berating the girls (which he called 'girls') for misplacing papers and generally keeping the front office out of order. Regardless of whether he was in the right or not, it was an extremely uncomfortable experience. I was left standing there pretending not to notice while he spoke down to them. When I came back the next time, I went through treatment with another girl again and when he came into the room he asked if I was married to my friend who I had gotten in the accident with. I said no, he then adjusted my neck and back quickly, said "there's nothing more I can do for you, if you're still experiencing pain speak with your primary care physician" and then left the room. I assumed I was dismissed but didn't know if I had been cured or if I was broken beyond repair. Overall, I felt as though I was wasting the doctor's time and he wasn't interested in treating me. When I sought out another doctor, he was shocked at the state of my injuries. It was if I hadn't received treatment at all. Would not recommend. read more

I was refeffered to this doctor by a friend, not yelp. I have had major problems with my back and needed a third opinion regarding different procedures. I had the X-rays, the MRI. I was called and in asked to take off my shirt. The doctor examined me and looked at the X-rays and MRI. He sat me down and said that he would not work on me. He suggested that I go back to getting the epidural injections even though they didn't help in the past. When leaving he made sure that he told the front desk not to charge me. I appreciated the doctor's honesty and manner. Very courteous and honorable. I recommend him on those points. I will state that it is an old office, and they have no computer! They do their bookkeeping on the old yellow cards! read more

Dr Harper is the best DC that I have ever been too. I read some of the reviews blasting him, and I was shaking my head as I read those bad ones. I have been seeing Dr Harper for 9 years. I have never seen nor heard Dr Harper say or do anything negative to the girls that work in his office. Dr Harper is extremely honest, and he won't keep you coming back over and over just so he can stuff his pockets with your money like most other DC's. I hope that he never retires, because I won't want to try anyone else, besides, he charges less than everyone else I have ever seen. read more

I've been to see Dr. Harper twice and both times I've been very happy with their service. It's obvious that the Doc has been practicing for many years. The first time I went, I had no pain but was very tight in my neck and down my spine. They used heat, ultrasound and vibration and I still didn't adjust very much. So the Doc said he wanted to see me again within a week for a follow up adjustment (which I would already have done) and the second time I wasn't even charged. And $25 a visit? That's a nice price! I will definitely see them again! By the way, yes, they're by appointment only, but my boyfriend goes there and always calls last minute. He gets in every time. read more

I have known Dr. Harper since about 1982 when he helped me get my spine back in alignment and remove the pain I was in. I had spent 18 months in pure agony with sciatica down both of my legs. Conventional medicine had done nothing to help me. In fact, one local spinal MD told me to "get used to the pain-you'll have it the rest of your life." Thank goodness I could not bring myself to believe him!!! Dr. Harper is one of the most caring, ethical, responsible chiropractic doctors you could hope to meet. He is not trying to sell you his services twice a week for the rest of your life. He doesn't charge extra for massage, working with one of their machines, etc. And if he thinks you need to see an MD for something that he thinks needs further care, he will say so! He is a religious man. Perhaps the other reviewer needs to allow that all Americans have the right to free speech. read more

Dr. Harper seems gruff at first but once you get past his old school demeanor you find a compassionate and generous man. I really love the ultrasound/electro-stym treatment. When I first went to see him I was in awful pain and hadn't been able to sleep for days! But after the ultrasound therapy the girl who worked on me put heat packs on my back. They weren't on for very long, but I fell asleep instantly and felt so relieved. When he came in for the adjustment he knew exactly what I needed. It was as if a huge knot had finally been untied in my upper back! Afterwards he told me that unless I was still in pain I didn't need to come back. This surprised me because the other 2 chiropractors I had seen insisted on several repeat visits or even solicited "memberships." When I left to check out I was only charged $25! Very worth the price! I was a little surprised at first at how stiff he seemed, but I overheard a conversation with another patient that was worried about her long term ailments. I found out that she was quite aged (old) and the Dr. Told her not to worry about the charge. I was very impressed. I've never seen a doctor willing to help a patient in that manner. I've been to see Dr. Harper many times and have sent family and friends there. All were very satisfied! When you go in, there is a working staff, so usually they're giving you the paperwork then going to take care of patients already in the back...but they are somewhat friendly. For $25 you are getting an electronic massage, hot packs on your back, then an adjustment. I personally don't care how these people vote or what they believe, or how much or friendly the conversation is. I am there to get my back adjusted and be on my merry way. Looked up chiro's near me they were 1/4 mile away... when I called the gal on the phone did not know how to tell me to get there said they were across from apartments under construction. I drove to those could not find the office, called back was told they were next to a restaurant? drove to the restaurant still did not see the office! then she told me she wasn't from the area but yet she drove there to work everyday? call back got a different person who also did not know how to tell me to get there! then finally got there filled out paperwork went back and talk to the doctor he was very irritated with my 5 year old asking questions & moving around the room. then took me into one room and my friend into another for treatment. he adjusted my head very lightly nothing moved in or out of place? then told me if I wanted to come back for any more care I would need to fill out more paperwork. I have been going to chiropractors off and on for 20 years... I will never go back to this one unless it was a major emergency. the other party that was with me said the experience was very odd they felt like they were in a brothel, there were many young girls that were very attractive and the bedside demeanor was very odd during the massage.
