ZERO STARS!!!! Our group had an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience at Rushland Ridge Vineyards and Winery in Jamison, PA. We were a group of 30 African American professional women who had called ahead to reserve space for a private outing. From the moment we arrived, the man at the counter made it clear that we were not welcome. He was dismissive, made rude remarks, and refused to serve us. His assistant joined in with comments that were discriminatory and inappropriate -- one remark being, "We only serve small parties of billionaires." It was obvious they did not want our business. As we decided to leave, staff followed us out to ensure we exited the property, which only confirmed the disrespect and bias we felt. This experience was deeply disappointing and unacceptable, especially considering that our group had come ready to support a local business in good faith. I was on a Saturday afternoon wine tasting tour with a group of ladies. This was the 3rd stop of 4. The coordinator contacted this location prior to confirm accommodation. As soon as we arrived the single staff member basically turned us away. He said he could not accommodate our group (even tho our arrival was already confirmed). We tried to make the best of the stop by at least patronizing. I personally asked to buy a glass of Niagara (from the printed list). I was told all he had was what was on the counter. His demeanor was off-putting and almost disgusted. We were a group of black women. We are all professionals and respectful. It's hard not to assume his lack of interest in our business and poor service was related to our race. We all left without spending a dime. No need to be where we're not wanted. read more

I recently visited Rushland Ridge Vineyards on a wine tour with some other ladies. One of our tour hosts called ahead and was assured that our party could be accommodated for a wine tasting. From the moment we stepped off of the bus and entered the establishment, we felt the lack of welcoming energy. The older man behind the counter didn't even address us and, in a panic, picked up his phone and called another employee saying that "a bunch of people just came in". Everything from his facial expression to the way he spoke told us he did not want us there. Another male then entered the main space and spoke to our other host stating that he couldn't accommodate us as "we all couldn't fit"-- even though more than half of our party was outside and the rest were fitting into the space perfectly fine. Not all of our party was interested in a tasting, but he didn't even bother to ask any questions. They in no way attempted to provide us service or accommodate us, and he was seemingly trying to CONVINCE us that we should leave. Feeling the unwelcome energy, we all boarded the bus and headed out. Safe to say, this was NOT a pleasant experience. I would not recommend Rushland Ridge Vineyards to anyone moving forward. read more

Went to this winery on a wine tour, and the guy said he couldn't accommodate a party of 30. The winery was completely dead, no one in sight. Our whole party had to leave after our presence was already expected. We felt that since our party was of color, we were not welcome. read more

I would not consider to be a destination hang out spot and it has limited seating areas. However, the quality of the white wines make it worth a visit. The tasting was $9 per person but is a good investment to taste the range of wines available.. read more

If you like decent wine stop. For $9 and a tasting which allows you a lot of wine you should stop. Their wines are good. Not many I didn't like. However if you lookin g to spend a day sitting and enjoy it is not for you. I do recommend stopping for a tasting. read more

The owner, Ed is so nice really informative and explains all his wines in detail. This place was great, the amount of wines he produces is amazing and the tastes are delicious. He makes about 20 different varieties, so good. Highly recommended. Definitely stop in if your in the area. We will definitely be back with friends. read more

This was the most laid back winery I've visited in a long time - we were the only ones there which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It allowed for lengthy conversations with the family on the wines they're making, process, terroir, history, etc. Make sure you say hi to the winery doggy, Rita!!! CASH ONLY. I tried several of their wines, many of which were solid and what you'd expect for Bucks County... The Chambourcin would be my favorite of the bunch and for the region, frankly... This winery is a small family owned winery, but we found at least 5 wines that were delicious! The country white, country red and strawberry were our favorites. TIP: They only accept cash and check...so be prepared. The family that owns this place is really nice and lovely to talk to. It was only a 5.00 tasting fee and it is a serve yourself tasting. There were about 20 or so wines including a Port out to try. The wines weren't quite as refined as some of the other wineries, but their good ones are good. They did have some wines that we hadn't seen at other wineries in the area, so I would definitely say that this winery is worth a stop by! read more

Worst winery in Bucks County. Skip It. Tasting room is at a personal residence, with a wet dog as a greeter. Wine was served abundantly but in plastic cups. Not a pleasant experience, and not up to snuff, as far as the prestige of "Bucks County" wineries go. I did not like a single wine, but my friend felt bad because the owner was SO nice, so she bought a bottle. Upon drinking it later, she found that it had spoiled. read more

Great place to visit, relax and enjoy some wines. This is on a local farm that we've driven past many times but never stopped in before. Cost is $5 each, and that is for virtually an unlimited amount of wine. The tasting room is a small building. The bottles are lined up on the bar, along with descriptions of each one. The tastings are self-service, at least when we were there. It was a bit crowded as there was a mini-bus load of folks, but not overly so. There was one person working there, presumably the farm owner who was friendly and cordial. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our time there. There were many varieties of wine, and we enjoyed tasting them, overall they were pretty good (I'm no wine connoisseur, I just like what I like). Plenty of goldfish crackers, too. Definitely recommend stopping here and trying it. read more

This place may have nice wine but I never made it to the tasting. After attempting to go to tastings twice and them being closed (even when their voicemail said they were open), the third time was a charm...so I thought. When I got there and they were finally open, with excitement, I entered the tasting room and there was the family dog! She ran up with muddy paws and jumped on me, ruining my new Nike jacket. This dog doesn't need to have access to customers. The owners didn't have very good customer service, as the only thing they could offer was clorox cleanup wipes and 409 after the dog ruined my clothes. I will definitely not be attempting a fourth visit! read more

Came here with my husband this afternoon. What a fabulous experience! Small family style owned winery. Wines were phenomenal and well priced! Tasting was $5 per person- very reasonable. All the wines are made on site from the vineyards. During the tasting we were entertained by the owner Lisa- she is so so nice! What a wonderful experience. The tasting room is cute and cozy! Do not pass up this winery! GPS gets you to their doorstep. They have a great selection of whites and reds. The Country White or Country Red is perfect for any meal or company. There are also a lot of seasonal wines in which are worth going every few months to get. Right now, they have a white wine called 'Ravat' that is amazing! Besides just having good wine, the owners are the sweetest people you can meet. They are genuine, friendly, and helpful. I've been drinking their Nouveau for many years. Always better than DeBeouf. This year I bought a bottle of theire 2007 Port. It proved to be truly delicious and great for a dessert wine. Nice with chocolate or nasty bleu cheeses. A very nice small family vineyard with typical PA grapes. Highly recommend a visit and tasting. Quaint and unassuming. A little difficult to fine, but well worth the journey. This has to be my favorite winery in Bucks County. The tasting facility is in a country barn and its pour your own samples. They offer the usual cheese and crackers for cleansing the palate. Sometimes they have home made chili (vegetarian I think) and cornbread. The same woman is always there and she remembers her customers. A friendly attentive touch. For a small winery, they have a nice selection of red, white, and fruit wines. Its a winery that seems to bottle its wine with the seasons, so don't expect the same wines twice. The price is always right here. All of the wines, with the exception of a couple "speciality" wines are around six dollars apiece. read more

This was a fun experience! It is a small family owned winery. The husband and wife were there and very fun to talk with. They only take cash or check!!! So we walked in and read the sign outloud because this was a problem for us, we had forgotten to get cash for the day. The woman was so nice she told us to do our tasting anyways and just come back sometime if we wanted something. It is a self pour tasting bar but she describe all the wines. They had a great selection of reds, whites, and fruit. We like some from each category. Before we left her husband came into the tasting bar and was having problems with a old industrial sewing machine he had just got, I offered to help him fix it and the next thing I know they gave us a bottle of wine in exchange. hahaha I really did work for wine like the signs say. It was a really fun place. I would highly recommend checking it out, keep in mind it's small and simple but the wine is very good. All wines are $10 a bottle and a case is $100. If your expecting a fancy stuck up place that are rude then don't go here. OK, I have been in the wine making and importing business for over 30 years, my grandparents owned vineyards; I have visited most of the top wineries in France as well as many other country's wine makers. If you are looking for $150 bottle Saint Emillion Grand Cru Classe,(Cuvee) you will not find it there. That said, I suggest you take practically any of Rushland's whites and do a blind taste against any of the top wines from any other place in the world (no matter the price); yes including the top Burgundy, Val de Loire, New Zealand, etc. wines. I had the pleasure of being a guest at some of the top Bordeaux Chateau wine banquettes during the Bordeaux VINEXPO and you will be surprised how the so called "top world EXPERTS" are totally clueless differentiating a Chateau Margaux from a California $5 bottle wine. I have a tendency to visit wineries during harvest; I know I was a pain in the you know what to do that. Rushland is not a large scale production, but neither is it a tiny place, but I was very impressed how they picked the grapes and process them within an hour in professional crushers and presses. Talk about preventing oxidation, really impressive. The processing was done under the proper sanitary conditions. If you want a true wine connoisseur experience, take your favorite tasting glass with you. Don't worry about the dog, he just wants to play, so if you don't like him, then ignore him. Go for what is important, the tasting. Take a gulp, swirl the wine in your mouth for 30 seconds before you swallow it, then let it gently slide down. Then write a review. As far as the red wines are concerned, it is a matter of taste. I personally like very dry, high tannin, 13.5%+ Alc by Vol reds, which is impossible to grow anywhere in the USA other than the West Coast. However, a lot more people like a pleasant smooth, somewhat fresh reds than the very deep reds, which you will also find at Rushland. In my humble (OK sometimes not so humble) opinion this winery has outstanding values and no, I do not have any relationship to the owners at this winery, I am just a European Wine lover who is trying not to be a snob and evaluate wines fro its true value and character.
